Title: Six Paths of Pain
...
Similar to the original timeline, Deva Path laid waste to everyone who arrived to besiege him, leaving only Choza, Choji and Kakashi.
After numerous tries to crush Deva with their combined Giant Boulder Jutsu, they came to realize how outmatched they were since Deva only needed to hold them in place before repulsing them.
During their battle, Asura Path arrived and with his Robotic body, began shooting projectiles out of his body. Kakashi was able to fare against this, but Choza and Choji were too chubby to be nimble.
Unfortunately, Choza had to use his body to tank a homing missile being shot at Choji...this led to his untimely death much to Choji's horror.
'I guess this should serve as a form of awakening...' Shun thought as he glanced at the scene of Yahiko, also making short work of the Jounins comprising of the Yamanaka, Nara and Akimichi clan.
It was as though he was their nemesis as no form of attack was capable of dealing him any damage...
...The Nara Clan Shadow to be more precise.
The Mind Transfer Jutsu of the Yamanaka clan also proved to be useless as the first person that entered Yahiko's mind didn't return, much to their horror.
As for the Akimichi Clan and their Body Mass manipulation, Yahiko wasn't stupid enough to tank their attacks. Redirection was a technique he had learnt to exploit when facing off against someone with more physical strength than his.
And in next to no time, the only people left standing were Shikaku, Inoichi and three members of the Akimichi clan.
With neither the Nara or Yamanaka clan being versed in physical strength, they were easy prey to Yahiko who dispatched them as swiftly as possible.
As for the Akimichi, despite their raw strength, with every passing second, the amount of calories in their bodies plummet, and not even their unique pills could help them when facing off against someone as slippery as Yahiko.
...
"Leave this area and report to the Hokage. All the Puppets are linked." Kakashi instructed the grieving Choji with labored breath while keeping his eye on the two Pains.
"Bu-"
"No buts! Your father already laid his life for you. Put that life to use and pass this information to the Hokage." Kakashi scolded harshly seeing the wimpy appearance of the Akimichi.
"This is a war kid. People die, loved ones die, what you have to do now is put your life to good use so as not to tarnish their efforts." Kakashi said as his chakra began churning.
"I'll cover you. Run as fast as you can." Kakashi said and immediately jumped into action.
"Thinking of escaping...I won't let you." Deva said, and simultaneously, Asura's body morphed as a slightly smaller missile formed on his palm. Pointing it towards the now running Choji, he shot it much to Kakashi's annoyance.
Seeing the missile tracking the kid, his Sharingan spun and switched to the Mangekyou Sharingan, and with a gaze, space around the missile twisted, causing the missile to disappear.
But before the two Pains could react to the disappearance, space spun once again, but this time, behind Asura.
Due to fighting Asura and Deva paths, Kakashi was quick to figure out the fact that they both shared the same sight.
He had initially thought that the Rinnegan had a 360° degree view similar to the Byakugan due to how Pain and Asura were able to dodge all their attacks.
However, a sneak attack from him with a clone allowed him to throw away that conjunction.
And using all his brain power, he was finally able to surmise that they could share sight through their eyes, similar to how the Shadow Clone Jutsu worked.
Whatever it is the clone hears, tastes, sees or feels, the main body would receive them all as soon as it is dispelled, but in this case, what one sees, the other also sees.
And to prove that theory, Kakashi teleported the missile to their shared blind spot and...
BOOM!
The sound of the explosion was what brought the two Pains' attention back, unfortunately, Asura's body was already damaged by the explosion... Fortunately though, Deva was able to repel the explosion by creating a dome around his body.
"Tch, that didn't do it huh?" Kakashi said as the dust cleared from the explosion. Asura, although damaged was still twitching, his body systems still active as another missile was immediately released from its mouth.
"Shit!" Kakashi cursed as he had reacted too late and couldn't follow up with his Sharingan.
Seeing the missile move with astonishing speed towards the young Akimichi, time seemed to come to a halt for the Copy Ninja as nothing in his skill set could allow him to save the kid.
His Mangekyou Sharingan spun as intense emotions raged within him. He had promised not to watch any one of his comrades die if he could help it.
He had vowed that he would never be the one running while others stayed behind to protect them.
He wanted to be the one protecting.
Although he knew he wasn't strong enough to win against this foe in front of him, at that moment, he wished for power...
Power. Not to defeat Deva and Asura Paths, but to protect the young boy he had just sent away.
From the depth of his soul, he wished...even if just this once, that he was able to use all his energy to prevent this promising young kid from dying.
And as though answering to his call, his left eye, the one holding the Mangekyou Sharingan began bleeding as blood fell down like tears.
In that single moment, his entire reservoir of chakra was drained as his wish was answered.
The missile that was so very close to obliterating the young Akimichi was immediately shifted to another space.
Although it was visible to the eye, it seemingly passed through Choji without causing him any harm.
Seeing this scene, Kakashi, despite the pain he was feeling, let out a small smile. However, the drain that accompanied his action caught up to him as he coughed out blood.
From his eyes, nose, ears and mouth, blood continuously flowed. All this happened before he finally fell to his knees, sparing one last glance at the Deva Path, his smile turned into one of contentment as he fell unconscious, his life slipping out of him.
Of course, Chakra being one's life force was a driving force to the thing called Living.
Although an energy capable of destruction, it was also one that propelled life. And with the entirety of it being used to cast that last Jutsu, Kakashi's life force was slowly but steadily slipping away.
"An admirable effort...As expected of You, Kakashi." Deva said, his tone filled with admiration but his face unchanged. Raising his right hand, he opened it as a nail shot up and landed between his index and middle finger.
"Despite the obvious, it is a necessity that I see you off from this world." Saying this, he raised the nail and locked it on Kakashi's forehead. "Farewell. Although a wonderful Shinobi, you still fail to matter in the grand scheme of things."
After saying this, he released the nail and watched it shoot over to Kakashi, and shortly before it made contact, he closed his eyes and prepared to turn away.
However...
Clang*
"Hm?" Stopping in his tracks, he opened his eyes only to see another nuisance, and to make matters worse, this nuisance had the same eye as the Copy Ninja.
'A brother perhaps?' he thought, seeing as they both had one Sharingan each.
"You are-?" Deva made to ask, but before he could finish his sentence, the arrival disappeared with Kakashi in tow.
"Hmm. He was fast." Deva muttered to himself but quickly turned around to face Asura.
Making a few hand signs...[Kuchiyose no Jutsu]
A cloud of smoke later, Another Path of Pain, The Naraka Path appeared, and without skipping a beat, he picked up the damaged Asura Path and threw him inside a gigantic mouth.
Seconds later, Asura walked out, his body devoid of the previous damage dealt on it by Kakashi.
"I think the Hokage should know where the Jinchuriki is." Deva said and floated up. "I'll be paying her a visit."
...
"You..."
"Hmm?"
"Why didn't you save him? He would die at this rate."
"Die? No. He's only going to meet his father...He'll be back soon."
Jiraiya couldn't help but look at Shun incredulously. Wasn't Kakashi's father dead? Since when was dying something you can do and undo at will?
"What? You don't believe me?" Shun asked the old man with a smirk. "How about a bet?"
"What bet?" Jiraiya asked with a frown.
"Simple. I will predict how this whole fiasco would go and if it plays out like that, you'll owe me one, however, if it doesn't, I'll owe you one." Shun said.
"How can you bet with the lives of people?" Jiraiya asked as bjs expression became more vivid.
"Oh? Seems like the effects of the tea are wearing off." Shun said as his smile fell.
"You haven't answered my question."
"And I don't think I'm required to." Shun replied immediately without even glancing at the man. "There is a natural order to things. You're meant to be dead."
Pointing at the screen, Shun continued. "This event is meant to happen whether you like it or not. And your role now is to observe. You've done your part. Remember your last thoughts when you thought you'd die?"
Jiraiya couldn't help but falter for an instant. He fully remembered his last thoughts prior to his 'death.'
"You had thought it's time to put down the pen. According to you, the tale of Jiraiya the Gallant is over and now, it the Tale of-"
"Uzumaki Naruto." Jiraiya interrupted.
"Precisely. Now have some faith... In your students." Shun said and looked back at the screen.
However, as soon as he did, he saw a scene that made him glance at Jiraiya.
Deva had just arrived at the rooftop where Tsunade and a few Anbu were gathering the chakra needed to treat all the wounded and barely living Shinobi and Civilians caught in the crossfire.
[Gravity Field.] Shun increased the gravity on Jiraiya to prevent the man from doing something stupid. Although he couldn't do anything from here, his actions could prevent him from properly watching this arc play out.
...
The destruction brought about by the Six Paths of Pain was astronomical.
The Animal Path, Chikushodo with her summoning laid waste to buildings on massive scales. It was as though they didn't come here looking for Naruto but to destroy the village.
Preta Path, Gakido went about its way gently asking for Naruto's whereabouts. He was practically invincible to any chakra related ability. So other than physical attacks...In short, corpses was what was left of wherever he passed.
Naraka, similar to the Human path, was in charge of extracting information.
While Naraka Paths' method was brutal, Human Paths' forceful mind reason was even more so.
At least, with Naraka, you're sure of death since your soul is extracted as Searched, but with Ningendo (Human Path) he'd just break down your mind and search through it.
Effectively leaving his victims comatose.
It was difficult to even decide whose method was more brutal.
As for Asura, after he was resuscitated, he went about blowing this up. The guy couldn't even talk, or Nagato didn't deem it necessary to attach a vocal chord to the body while creating it.
Observing the Scene from his dimension, Shun had only one word for this... Domineering.
Yup. To think that one man could destroy a Major Village like this in the span of one Afternoon.
If that's not domineering, it would be hard to say what was.
And to make matters worse...
"He's floating up..." Shun said as he saw Tendo(Deva Path) begin floating up from the Hokage building.
Scanning the screens, he came upon a scene of Ino, Sakura and Hinata wounded beside an unconscious Shizune.
'Wait a minute... Something's wrong!' Shun suddenly thought. His mind, as though muddled before, cleared up as he began analyzing something. 'Where the hell was Kawaki!?'
Shun's POV.
I know for a fact that Kawaki and Shizune are an item, and it's hard to imagine that an invasion of this scale won't alert Kawaki.
In situations like this, determining the safety of your loved ones is a priority and despite how much time has passed, where the hell was Kawaki.
Now that I think about it, were he here, Yahiko, no matter how strong he has become, won't be able to cause this much damage on Konoha's Jounin.
Not to mention... Where the hell are the Uchihas?!
This is disturbing...
Thinking this, I tried to zoom in on the various paths of the Village only to see...
Fucking Zetsu and Obito.
This was a well planned attack.
But...How the hell did Obito manage to create a Dimensional barrier...A red one at that!?
As one would know, barriers had three colors that determine how strong they are.
Blue for low. A single Chunin or Jounin could set one up.
Purple for Mid. A single Kage level or a group of Jounin could set one up.
And finally...Red for high. A group of Kage level Shinobi are needed to set up one.
However, someone with above 100,000 units of chakra could also create one such barrier.
And from my observation, Obito hasn't reached that level yet.
He was close, but not there yet. How he was able to do that...while also making it hidden is... Ingenious.
However…for me not to even notice…Was a Shinjutsu employed?
***
A/N: Sigh… Things are pretty rough for me now. Sorry if it seems like I'm extending this arc more than it's supposed. I wanted to write a 5k-7k words in this chapter and conclude it once and for all but…
Anyways…
Enjoy.
