His mind was shutting down and his vampire survival instincts had taken over. His eyes had succumbed to darkness and all he sought was her blood. Moving his left hand to her neck and he dug his nails so deeply into her skin that it began to bleed.
"Ahhh!" A whimper escaped her throat and Xiran was jolted back to his senses. He was horrified to see how viciously he was holding her, her eyes held a surprised look, still not afraid of him though.
Instantly, he let her go and pulled out his canines. He cursed under his breath and scurried away from her.
"Sorry," he mumbled to her, hating himself for hurting her. He had always been gentle to her, the reason she trusted him. He didn't want that to change but he wasn't thinking straight today.
