Chereads / The Beta's Bane / Chapter 8 - Punishment

Chapter 8 - Punishment

**********TRIGGER WARNING: ASSAULT AND VIOLENCE************

Bane Bailey

The car ride into territory was quiet. I had been instructed to keep Liam in the trunk to keep him out of the sun until nighttime, or only drive at night. I however, hating driving at night. The blackness of the sky would drone me to sleep if I wasn't careful. The plan was simple.

The southern gate was always less guarded since the western pack had been threatening Alpha Flynn for the past few months. It would be easier to sneak in through there with less people to notice me before climbing the trees and making my way to the library. And then Chelsea messaged me, and I had a better idea. She wanted out of the pack and wanted to go against her pledge. She thought, because Alpha Flynn had told everyone so, that I had died on my way home from my original mission. She assumed she was sending the text to a number that no longer worked.

"I don't trust Alpha with my life anymore. Bailey knew better." She sent. Her words wrenching up my gut as Liam read it to me. Dusk had broke, and if we timed it right we would be reaching the pack around 8pm. Liam sat next to me reading the messages as they came and responding while I drove.

"Bailey isn't dead." I replied, letting my heart drop.

"how can I be sure?" Chelsea asked.

"Go to the library. Bibliography, section 9. Grab the book titled "Bane Theseus" from the fourth shelf. Then met me at the study hall on the south quarter." I told her, hoping it wasn't a trap. 2 more days, I told myself. If I don't get caught, I have 2 more days.

Liam caught a glance of my face while I was lost in thought and laughed. "I don't know what is so scary about you coming back home for a book, but if it truly is that bad then I understand Alpha's reasoning for sending me with you."

We were less than 20 minutes from the pack when I finally turned to Liam. "No matter what happens in here. You do not retaliate. You get out, get the book to Alpha Arden and leave. Do not try to save me." My words cut hard as I tried not to think about Alpha's wrath.

"Understood." Liam answered, a look of caution filling his eyes.

I stopped at a shop just outside the boarder when Nicolas came up and high-fived Liam. "Good, now that you two are acquainted again..." I looked around my trunk for a moment before cursing. My knight shirt, I had left it behind in the Packhouse before I left. "Okay. Slight change of plans. Liam comes with me through the gate, Nicolas watches from overhead. If they haven't' noticed you by now, they won't notice you before we leave."

I quickly grabbed some rope and looked at Liam. "Oh great. So, I get to play captive?"

With a shrug, Liam placed his hands behind his back and let me guide him in through the southern border. The gate was, as I expected, low-manned. However, I didn't expect Lycus Chulainn to be guarding it.

"Stop, who is it?" Lycus called out, moving out from behind the post.

"Just me, Bane Bailey, and a prisoner upon Alpha's request, Lycus." I called back before shifting Liam sideways so Lycus could see me.

"Ba... Bailey, Goddess." Lycus looked at me for a moment before blinking. "Yes, of course Bane. Please continue."

I sighed as I pushed Liam forwarded a little harder than I wanted and he stumbled for a moment.

"Guess the Alpha really does want stronger Banes sooner." I heard Lycus mutter before we moved out of sight in the southern woodland. I looked up at Liam before releasing the rope from around his wrists.

"Hope I didn't hurt you too badly." I told him as I pointed toward the study hall. "This way."

Liam followed as we both entered the hall. Classrooms spread out through the narrow hallway, breaking away only for a small gym at the end. I followed Chelsea's scent carefully as I traced the hallway and stepped into the gym. She stood against the wall just passed the door frame and eyed me down.

"You. But you are supposed to be dead." She said, dropping the book from her hands. She had been reading it waiting for us, and it landed with its pages open.

"For all purposes, yes I am." I replied before gingerly picking the book back up. "And I'm about to do something that will probably kill me."

I turned to Liam, handing him the ornated leather bound book before looking back at Chelsea. "you should leave before I say what I have to."

I had made up my mind on the drive. I couldn't let myself continue to go through with Alpha's order. "Liam, you leave too."

With a flash of air, Liam was gone in an instant. I realized then just how much faster the vampires would always be and became slightly envious of their abilities. But they came at a steep price, one I was not willing to pay. Before I knew it, Liam was back at my side, but the book was gone. "Nicolas is waiting in the car. I was ordered to make sure you get back to Alpha Arden."

I cursed under my breath. Damned vampires and their promises. Chelsea took one look at me, gave me a hug and then bolted out the door. I knew I would probably never see her again. I opened the mind-link to the whole pack before speaking out loud. "I, Bane Amy Lynn Bailey, fully refuse the command of Alpha Flynn, and accept the punishment of my pledge." My words echoed in the empty halls around us as I felt a jarring stab in my side.

"Bailey?" Liam started to step forward, but I put my hand up against him.

"What an occurrence." Alpha Flynn's voice echoed around us. I shuttered at the sound and Liam backed up. The man stalked into the room with a smile on his face. "You refuse the command?" He said, looking down at me before grabbing my shoulder and forcing me to my knees. "Little Bailey. What was it you pledged again, so many years ago?"

"Hell, if I remember correctly." Luna called out as she entered the room. Her scent spinning around me as she made circles around us. I could see Liam becoming increasingly concerned but doing his best to obey my request.

"Ah, yes. To live in Hell for the rest of your life." Alpha Flynn's smile deepened as he turned to his mate. "I believe you had the judgement picked out for this one, am I correct dear?"

"Yes. I did." Luna sang, her claws extending as she stopped and starred down on me.

Alpha Flynn moved behind me, holding me against his waist as his hand gripped my jaw, forcing me to stare at his Luna. "Go ahead dear, and then I'll take her mark back and leave her to die with her vampire friend."

Luna Lyla, almost as if on cue, slapped the back of her ringed hand against my cheek, cutting and slicing my skin where the rings met. "I, Luna Lyla, by the power of your Bane pledge, take from you your mating recognition. From here on out, Bane Bailey will never recognize her mate even within a foot of each other." Luna's words struck me harder than any blow she could have given me.

To find my mate was a she-wolf's dream. Wolves were known to go mad without finding their mates, not to mention the sheer pride of raising a family. Without a mate, a she-wolf wouldn't go into heat. In the span of two sentences, Luna Lyla sentenced me to live the rest of my life alone.

The beating that followed from Alpha Flynn seemed like child's play compared to the emotional toll of my pledge. As he continued to kick my ribs, breaking a few before moving to my arms and fingers, I thought the worst was over.

Then I felt his hands glide down to the mark. His mark. His pledge mark against my hip. "I gave you this mark, and I will take it away the same way." He whispered, his words like sandpaper as his hands moved to my pants.

"Amy Lynn Bailey, do not move." I felt the Luna's command wash over me as she watched, a grin shinning against her face.

Alpha Flynn's fingers moved almost expertly, pulling at the button of my jeans before sliding them down, my panties shortly after. I remained where I was, bent over my knees as my claws dug into the hardwood floor. I felt Liam's gaze drift away from me and heard him shuffle but he didn't leave. Alpha Flynn's sweatpants hit the floor by my ankles, and I knew what was coming next. I had watched it happen less than a month ago. Something sick inside me began to wonder if Alpha Flynn got hard from taking what he wanted from girls who couldn't say no. I felt his claws wrap their way around my thighs, his teeth skirting along my back as he pulled himself close to me. I couldn't move. My hands, my knees felt like they were glued to the floor by Luna's command.

His hands moved to massage the sides of my hips and I closed my eyes, internally begging for it to just be over quickly. I felt his finger enter me, swirling and curling itself around me, forcing my sex to react just the way he wanted it to. His finger slowly pulling in and out of me, adding in fingers and stretching me out. I tried to cry out, tried to do something, but couldn't even move my jaw. His fingers suddenly slipped out and I knew what was waiting. I heard him reposition behind me, his claws grabbing at my sides as he maneuvered my hips. With a hard thrust, he was inside me. My walls struggled to stretch fast enough, and I cried out I pain. He raked my hips and back with his claws before digging them into my hips and forcing the thrusts, rocking me against him and changing the speed at his own will. I felt the familiar trickle of blood run down my side as he continued to force himself in me.

My cries finally emerged from my mouth, but only seemed to encourage him as he quickened his pace. With one final thrust, I felt Alpha gnashed his teeth against my mark, biting and shredding it from my skin before finally releasing me from his grip. My body hit the floor like a wet mop, and I heard him curse as he pulled up his sweatpants.

"Little Bitch got blood on my pants." Alpha Flynn spat with a fully forced kick to my groin and turning to leave. He and Luna both stopped in front of Liam, "Let Alpha Arden know, that if he wants to play stupid games, he better be ready to get stupid prizes."

I felt Liam move to my side slowly and I rolled to look at him. "Let's just say, that went a lot better than I had thought it would."

"You know, your stupid for making me promise not to retaliate." Liam said as he moved to pick me up. I flinched for a moment before just nodding. I felt weak. Weaker than I had ever felt. I watched with amazement as he softly moved my pants back up before walking outside with me. Then he sprinted.

I felt like the spaceship in Star Wars going through hyper speed as he moved through the forest and back to our car. "Nicolas is going to drive us back. You just relax." Liam told me, but something told me relaxing was far from my mind.

Just as I felt the mind-link break and Alpha Flynn disowned me, I heard it. The rush of wolves racing behind us. "You're going to have to drive faster than that if you want to get away from here." I told them, hearing the howls gaining on us.

"I've got one better." Nicolas said before the howls just... stopped.

I tried to sit up, but every muscle ached as soon as I moved. Liam just looked down at me and smiled. "Don't worry, you're safe now."

And as if his words made everything make sense, I felt my eyes close, and darkness took over.

Beta Drake

*BUZZ* *BUZZ*

"ETA 30 minutes. Bailey still out cold. Idk what they did to her in there, but she has lost a lot of blood" I starred at Nicolas' message for longer than I should have. She had gotten the book, but it may have cost her life. Liam wasn't even answering my texts, which infuriated me on a different level.

"Alpha, permission to request the pack doctor for Bailey. Incoming 30." I mind-linked Arden, I knew she would probably be going back to her cell, but she deserved to live after this.

"Approved." Alpha responded and I bounded down the hallway to the doctor. Explaining the situation and the expressed approval by Alpha Arden, we piled into the response van and raced to meet them at the edge of No Man's Land. What was so different about this she-wolf that made me want to save her so badly? We got to boarder just as we saw the truck squeal to a halt.

"Beta, she's bleeding bad. It just won't stop." Liam called out as he pulled her from the car. Her skin was tinted grey instead of its normal milky white, and a rush flew over me. By the looks of Liam's clothing and hers, she had been bleeding since they got into the car.

"Get her in here if you want her to live." The doctor called out from the back of the van, flinging open the doors and pulling the rescue cart out. "Beta, you stay with me. You boys, drive."

I looked at Liam who just shrugged and placed her gently onto the cart before moving to the passenger side. Nicolas made his way to the driver side before the doc, and I pushed the cart back into the van. I closed the doors behind us before turning to the doc. "What now?"

"Now, we save her life." Doc replied as he stuck an IV of fluids into one arm and one of blood into the other. "I don't know if it is going to work, but it is the best solution that I have right now."

I watched as doc moved over her, checking each injury before sighing and looking at me. "She should be dead."

"She should have died falling from a tree." Liam replied from the driver's seat with a laugh. "She's stronger than you give her credit for, doc."

"He has a point." I told him as we arrived at the hospital. "I'm sure she will survive this. She will need to be chained to the bed and have someone posted outside."

I had spoke as we moved to get her back out, mostly making the mental list for myself, but also to reassure the doc that she wasn't going to be able to harm him.

"Alpha, she has arrived at hospital. Book acquired." I mind-linked him. I knew he was in the middle of a dinner with Alice and her family, but he wanted the updates.

We quickly moved her inside, the nurses rushing over to help shift her body to a regular bed. I sighed as I placed the chain gently around her wrist and tied it to the bed rail. Pulling up a seat next to the other side of the bed, I waited. The color had started to return to her skin, I watched the scratches slowly disappear across her face and began to wander what had caused such a horrible injury.
