Chapter 18 - Picnic in the apocalypse

Williams was about to lash out when something else abruptly caught his attention, amongst the scraps and debris a blue gem was shinning under the scorching sunlight. Looking at it Williams almost got lost in it if not for his strong will.

"How durable must that be to survive that lightning rampage"

Williams squatted down and inspected the gem intensely, it was about a block size and it had many red dust sparkling in it.

Bella also came over to check it out, in her hand was now a half-eaten apple Williams had given her some.

"Aren't you gonna eat that already?.... Considering you have already finished the 24 apples I gave you" Williams teased her.

Bella bared her teeth at him angrily, "Bite me!"

"That's such an immature answer Bella" Williams said, looking at her stomach he continued, "Tell me Bella, how did your stomach remain flat even after eating all of those apples?"

Examining the gem carefully, Bella replied him, "It happens anytime I fight, I use up a lot of energy to open a gate for Apollyon to pass into this world."

"Apolon? Who the heck is that?"

"I didn't say apolon, I said Apollyon you fool!"

"Oh"

"It is a name for an evil angel, it also has other names like the fiend, the prince of darkness..." Bella stopped there and didn't continue any further.

"What is the prince of darkness, is it that strange black matter that came out of you? So it's alive? Opening a gate for it to pass through to this world... That means it's not from this world? How do you even come to know about all this stuffs?... It's your teacher again right?" Williams bombard her with a series of question.

"1I prefer calling him the fiend, 2 yeah, it's the black thing that came out of me and it's alive, 3 yes, it's not from this world. I don't know how but he and I have a connection with hades and that's where he came from, 4 you are right, my teacher thought me all I know about it, and 5 stop bothering me with your bullshit questions and let's focus on what's in front of us!" Bella replied him using her fingers one after the other.

They both return to examining the gem but nothing seems out of place, it was not emitting any evil energy and it looks totally harmless.

Bella tried removing it with both hands but her effort was fruitless as the gem wouldn't budge a bit.

She looked back at Williams who was watching with a carefree manner, looking at his calm face she couldn't help but complain, "Will you care to help me you idiot, how can you seriously remain calm when we are about to discover something that may go down in history".

"Enough!" Williams looked straight into her eyes and continue, "you are like a really nice and sweet girl but sometimes you can be a real asshole. You can't just order me around like some maid! Treat me with the respect that I deserve!"

"Are you done?" Bella asked with a straight face.

"Yes"

"Now get your ass over here and help me out!" She yelled at him furiously.

"Damnit!" Williams was really speechless at this point, this woman was nice and caring to him an hour ago and now she treats him like shit. Walking over helplessly he asked what part of him she needed.

"Okay Williams, I need you to blast it with all you've got"

"It's pointless, I don't think it will work since it survive an attack of that level without a scratch."

Williams dismissed the options and thought of another alternative.

"What if we go back to the city and we dispatch a team of earth mages here to dig it up" he suggested.

Bella also nodded, they had already tried digging it up anyways the more they dig the bigger the gem gets, it seems what they saw before was only the tip of the an iceberg.

"Let's go back to the city, it's getting late and I still have some questions"

Williams said as his eyes sparked with lightning, he was about to disappear when Bella suddenly grab his hands.

He thought that she was about objurgate him again but he was startled when he held her voice.

"Can I show you something?"

Her voice sounded so lonely at this moment, it was like a person who had spent an eternity alone in seclusion.

"You can show me"

Bella moved closer and hugged him.

Williams was surprised and wanted to talk when he suddenly felt himself levitating.

'Oh my God! I can fly... AWESOME!!!" He exclaimed in his mind but his excitement died when he realized something else, 'She's the one pulling me up right... Damnit!, I got excited over nothing.'

Meanwhile Bella who was analysing his expression suddenly showed panic when his facial expression showed disappointment, "What is it Williams, don't you like it? I will drop us down right away."

Having known the reason for her panic Williams smiled and caressed her face, "No, it's not that. I was just distracted, so what is this place we are going"

"You'll see, it's a surprise"

They both flew on for hours before they suddenly got to the place they were looking for.

"Wow, it's..... beautiful"

Williams was dazed by the site infront in him. He saw a beautiful lake flowing down beneath a hill. Both the hill and the rivers were surrounded by beautiful flowers and the air was filled with a wonderful fragrance and the glistering moon was adding another layer of beauty to the already perfect scenery.

"How can this survive the apocalypse?"

Williams asked curiously.

"It's not always like this, I had a group set it up yesterday for you" Bella replied.

They both floated down gently, Williams could see fruits set up on a rock and a red cloth was laid on the green grass.

"Is this what I'm thinking"
