"Tap, tap, tap," the sound of the desk being tapped at sounded throughout the silent, eerie room.
Sitting on that desk, and tapping on the desk, he couldn't help but wonder just which person he wronged so much for his dreams to be shattered in just a few hours.
Why did it have to happen that way when he hadn't officially made a move like that?
And thinking of the culprit, the trouble causer who caused all that, he felt like strangling the other and throwing the other to Belmore. And for him to never appear in front of him ever again.
"Huala," as he plotted about this, the door to the room suddenly opened and without looking, he knew who the other was.
In his entire circle of friends and acquaintances, there was only one shameless person who didn't know any boundaries or doors.
And it was a person that he wasn't able to get angry at. For that person was him, and he was him. They were each other's halves and couldn't live without one another.
They were each other's bloodline and function when they were whole.
And that person whom he wasn't expecting to see in another month or so was currently in his hotel suite. He arrived early that morning without even saying a word.
And seeing how he was able to come directly to the hotel he was staying at, he knew that he had been sold and it was none other than Charlie who was probably venting his frustrations since he forgot about him when he was accompanying Diamond the previous day.
Looking at his twin brother, Kian was at a loss and his expression couldn't even hide that at all.
"Brother, you know that I am hurt, right? How could you do something like that and didn't even tell me your twin?" Kian's twin asked with helplessness in his voice, though Kian knew that the other was just pulling his leg.
Glaring at his brother, Kian retorted, "Sullivan, I just met her yesterday. And this morning you are already here. When was I supposed to tell you about it when we just recently met?"
A hint of slyness flashed in Sullivan's eyes as he neared his brother.
They were born together, grew up together, and knew each other very well.
However, because of different careers in life, the two had to live separately. The two always reunited several times a year and never missed each other's important dates.
Sullivan knew his brother too well. The other was introverted and wasn't interested in women the way he was.
It had always been a worry for him. After all, they were getting older with each passing year. Being thirty-two years old, without any girlfriend, wife, or kids, it was worrying, and he wanted to settle down.
However, that was something he wouldn't do unless Kian did that. He wouldn't be at peace if that didn't happen and with that crazy pledge the four of them did when they were young, he wasn't sure what the future would bring.
And now Kian was interested in someone and knowing him too well, there was no way he came to Srad coincidentally and happened to meet that fairy of a woman who made his playful heart to race the whole night.
Although he had not met Diamond in person, he knew himself that the woman was trouble. Although she didn't go around trying to look seductive and all that, she carried an aura that even in an image one would notice.
There was more to that than what Kian was letting on and he was going to dig it all.
"Kian, don't start lying. How long have you been stalking her?" Sullivan asked confidently.
With his brother's expertise, it wouldn't be a surprise if he wasn't stalking Diamond all the way to Srad to create that coincidental meeting.
Kian, hearing that, relaxed his body as he settled himself in a manner that Sullivan was used to seeing on certain occasions.
The shyness, discomfort, and hesitation on Kian's face suddenly vanished and was replaced by a more confident look that made Kian ooze with charm.
The side that Kian wasn't used to show other people and yet Sullivan and those two, while excluding the unlucky ones, had seen.
Seeing Kian doing that, Sullivan flashed a sincere smile at Kian as he walked towards the desk.
Kian looked at his brother with a smile on his face and waited until the other was seated opposite him.
Pulling out the drawer and taking out a pack of cigars and a lighter, Kian skillfully pulled two from the case.
He took out a cutter and made neat cuts of the two before passing one cigar to Sullivan, who took it without a word.
Kian watched as Sullivan neatly lit the cigar before doing the same for him.
Kian took a few puffs and blew out the smoke and watched as the rings entangled with each other.
A smile started blooming on his face and looking at his twin brother, he knew that he couldn't fool him.
They knew each other so well, so it was pointless for him to do that. Since the truth was going to come out later, the sooner he confessed, the better it was for him.
"Are you ready to let it all out?" Sullivan teased as blew some smoke rings of his own.
"Will it even make sense if I continue to hide it at this stage?" Kian retorted.
"That wouldn't work," Sullivan answered.
Kian looked at Sullivan, that troublesome brother of his that he loved so much, and opened his mouth confessing, "It's been around three months since I saw her. It was love at first sight, the same as you," before saying something that made Sullivan choke on the smoke.
"You_" Sullivan looked at Kian, shocked by what Kian had just said and before he could say anything, Kian cut him off.
"We are brothers Sullivan. Just like how you know me, I also know you. I was trying to prevent this from happening early, but I guess I was too late," Kian sighed as he thought of this.
Sullivan looked guiltily at his brother, for he knew that he had been caught. It was love at first sight for him. The moment he saw her, despite knowing that Kian was interested in her. He knew that he wanted her and when he thought he would be able to hide that from Kian, he still ended up getting caught. Something that Kian had managed to do ever since they were young.
The two of them couldn't successfully lie to each other and as much as it was a frustrating thing for them, it was also something to be relieved about.
They were only two in their family and if they started a habit of lying to each other, wouldn't their relationship be affected?
"Brother, I ….. I am sorry, I don't know. I just don't," Sullivan didn't have any words to defend himself at all.
Kian didn't get any upset with his brother at all but smiled at him. Although the others might have forgotten, he still remembered that crazy pact they did years ago.
And it was because of that he had been worried about letting Diamond meet Sullivan first.
"It's okay and let's move past that. I will tell you all about her, and you are not allowed to crash my date tonight. I will introduce her to you and hope that we will all get together well," with sincerity laced in his tone, he said to Sullivan.
