'....And that was how I got stuck to this weird shark woman. ' Butan sighed as he watched Woofer look around his house like a curious cat...no, a curious shark.
After his teacher decided to assign them to the same group, he had a fierce argument with him about this, but the teacher's decision was final. Plus his reasoning wasn't even that bad, Woofer was a underachiever and Butan had the highest grades, so the teacher hoped that bringing them together would somehow motivate her to work harder.
Butan, who above all cares about his grades, had no choice but to work with her. Turns out his house was the closest one to school out of them both, and that's how they got to where they are now.
'This brute could barely even fit through the door..' He looked at the shark in annoyance. His house was made with his own height in mind. Woofer hit her head on the door pretty hard while not paying attention. Well, at least it was funny.
"We already know each other, so we don't need introductions." I said as we sat down. She looked at me and nodded, her hands on her knees.
"I know what the teacher said about working together to improve or whatever other idealistic nonsense he spouted, but I don't actually need your help to do this." I looked up at her and said it...Because of our differences in height, if I look straight at her I will just end up gazing at her chest. Stupid tall woman. Purr.
The assignment given to us was about history, each of the groups got a important figure from the Second Great War that ended fifty years ago. Everyone needed to do a presentation based on their assigned person.
"Eh? But Mister Yao said for us to-" Yao was the name of our teacher.
"I do not care. You attempting to help me will only make things worse." I said while messing with my whiskers. This girl's grades were really bad, and by what I heard from the teacher it was not because of a lack of trying. She studied very seriously but still managed to somehow fail, she was a natural at screwing things up.
"If you are worried about me not writing your name on it or, I can convince our teacher you contributed to this, so just go lazy around or something, I don't care." Doing two people's worth of work would be a pain, but it's a far more tolerable pain than dealing with her.
"Its not just about the grades, I thought.... we could have fun doing it." I saw her ears flopping down as she looked sad.
'She seems to really want to do this as a group, should I give her a chance..?' I went silent and thought about it. Maybe I was being too harsh...?
"Just go home." Yeah, no.
"I will not leave until you agree." She puffed her gray, lizard cheeks, like a kid about to throw a tantrum.
"Woman, just leave my house. Purr." I purred out of frustration.
This meaningless argument continued for over 10 minutes, before I reluctantly agreed to work together with her so she could leave already. I was still going to do the majority of the work, I just had her do stuff that would not impact our grades much. She still looked very happy about it anyway.
"Hehe~~." She walked to the exit with a little happy dance.
"Ouch!!" Her dumb shark brain still managed to bump her head on the door for the second time. I sighed watching this sight.
For how much longer would I have to tolerate this?

"Hehehe~~" Woofer happily walked back home. It took a lot of effort, but the little angry cat boy finally agreed to let her help him.
'He's only letting me do the unimportant parts though...' She gave a wry smile. It didn't matter, its already good enough they can work together.
As she walked, she finally got home and knocked on the door. Half a minute later, a serious looking sharkman opened the door, looking at her.
"I'm back dad!"
"Yeah." The shark man nodded and went back to watching TV.
I entered home and saw mom at the kitchen, it was about time for dinner. I licked my lips, feeling the rough skin on my mouth.
"Hi mom!" I greeted my mother. She looked beautiful as always, wearing a white apron. Interestingly, her mother was visibly taller than her dad. Female sharks are taller than male sharks, she herself was taller than her own dad.
"Welcome sweetie, how was hanging out with your classmate." Mother looked at me and smiled gently.
"It was very good, we are going to do history a assignment tomorrow."
"Making friends already, huh." Mom smiled and shook her head and got her attention back to the food.
'Friends...?'
"Mom, I wait for my food in the bedroom." Woofer looked to be in a trance as she walked to her room upstairs, before lying in the bed and looking at the roof.
Friends. Could she really be friends with him?
As a shark, people don't usually approach her. Animals aren't born equal, and some are stronger and look scarier than the others. Sharks have a very bad reputation, even though they aren't actually that violent, so people avoid her.
Animals bonded together with their own species but while she wasn't the only shark on the entire school, there was not another one in her class, so she couldn't make a single friend until now.
Butan was actually a anomaly for approaching her, he was almost half her height yet didn't look even slightly scared. Even getting angry at her. To be honest, she kinda of... liked it?
"Maybe...We could be friends?" She thought out loud as she looked at the roof.
