Chapter 8 - Consé of Betrayal

"I…I…" Manny began mumbling under his breath, looking back and forth between his sister and his girlfriend when the latter, pulled him closer to her screaming and crying in his face,

"Manny.."

At that point, Manny felt that he had no other choice, bending his face out of shame as he mumbled out his next words, with tears in his eyes,

"I pick Julia," he said watching Julia breathe out a sigh of relief, as she finally detached herself from him falling to the side.

"I'm sorry, Landra. I love you but I have to pick one," he cried, not daring to look up, and in the direction she was kneeling in, knowing she didn't deserve to die and it was all Kahan's fault.

"You know she doesn't deserve to die," Manny said, looking up at Kahan again and appealing to him as much as he could only to watch in horror as he raised the gun, and slowly pulled the trigger.

Manny instantly forgot to breathe, the overwhelming sound of the gun being the last thing he noticed as blood splattered on him from every side.

He was still trying to comprehend what was happening as he stared at the dead body on the ground with a wide gaping hole at the side of her head, when he heard Kahan speak,

"You're right she doesn't deserve it," Kahan sighed, handing over the gun in his hand back to the original owner as he watched as tears began streaming out of Manny's eyes.

Unable to believe what was happening in front of him, Manny scooted closer to Julia's now very dead body, shaking her a little to make sure that it was really a dream.

"You killed her. You really killed her…" he silently said right before lunging himself off the ground and straight at Kahan with fury in his eyes,

He had barely gotten off the ground when he was instantly knocked back down by Lario who used the butt of his gun to hit his head, as much as he could without rendering him unconscious.

"I…I would never forgive you," Manny cried even as Landra his sister did nothing but cower on her knees as she wrapped her arms around herself, not reacting even a little when Manny was hurled to the ground.

"That makes two of us," Kahan sighed half-turning around, wanting nothing more than to leave the building, slowly getting disgusted by the dead bodies on the floor,

"Get rid of them," Kahan said, gesturing to the dead bodies on the ground.

"What about him and his sister?" Lario asked, knowing that Kahan would normally have immediately gotten rid of everyone that betrayed him, which was why he couldn't understand why Manny was still alive,

"Let them go,"

"but he's a loose end. He knows a lot about…"

"Let them go Lario," Kahan ordered in a commanding voice that told him that he wasn't trying to negotiate with him. He was telling him what to do right before he fully turned around and walked away and out of the building.

Manny showed no signs of being thankful for Kahan's mercy as all he looked at was Julia's dead body that was being slowly dragged away.

"You heard the boss…Let them go" Lario repeated, without a single trace of anger on his face and in his tone. He understood that loyalty should be rewarded since he too had known Manny for more than five years.

But he also knew that betrayal also had consequences.

"Just make sure to break both his legs first," Lario ordered, glad to again see the look of fear in Manny's eyes since his girlfriend died.

"If we somehow have a reason to meet again in the future, I'll be taking your tongue," Lario warned, watching his men do as he had ordered.

Manny's screams became music to his ears and even Landra, his sister couldn't stop herself from wailing heavily at that point as she watched and heard the bones of her brother's legs being crushed as she knelt a few steps away from him on the floor.

The second Kahan left the Mano company. He headed to the Kensington neighborhood where he lived to rest.

He entered his bedroom on the second floor of his Mini-mansion and had just taken off his clothes to have a bath when he noticed the more than fifty voice messages on his answering machine.

Kahan had just clicked on it when he instantly regretted his actions as he was instantly bombarded with messages from the only person who dared to.

"Hey Kahan, I called you so many times but your phone is switched off. Is that how much you hate me? So I just wanted to inform you that I got you a new gig with the most amazing female co-star all actors have been dreaming of. Everything regarding the new movie has been settled and all you need to do is meet the director and other actors and get your script. Am I not the most amazing Manager in the whole wide world," Erio, Kahan's manager gushed, in a high-pitched voice right before a clicking sound rang and the next message followed,

"I need you to get back to me by tomorrow, Kahan. Maybe this is the chance we've all been praying for. The chance for you to find love. I want to tell you about the movie but I feel it's best for me to tell you about it in perrrrrrson," his voice rang out right before he released a loud squeal that annoyed Kahan so much that he turned around and simply disconnected the answering machine instead of switching it off.

Right before heading to the bathroom.

"It's bad enough that I have to check up on the hotel attendant that is now aware of my real identity, I also have to deal with such an immature Manager every day," Kahan sighed under his breath as he stepped into the shower, relishing the cold water on his skin.

The cold water glided against the rocky abs on his torso and for a second Kahan thought of finding some sought of pleasure to make up for the horrible day he had as his eyes landed on the soap in his hands.

But the thought had barely crossed his mind when he tossed it out. He had a big day tomorrow and more problems he needed to solve.
