Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

William looked disapprovingly at Leo who was smiling triumphantly. Then, his eyes turned to Emely who was silent, frightened. He led Clara to hurry to the car.

"Dad, we're going with Mrs. Emely, right?" Clara asked before following in her father's footsteps.

As usual, William stared blankly. In fact, to his son. All of that could not be separated from Emily's supervision.

"Mom will follow later, okay? Clara and Dad will wait in the car first." Emely approached Clara while stroking her head.

The little girl smiled and nodded, then continued walking with William. After making sure they both got into the car, now Emely turned her gaze to Leo.

His hands were intertwined, channeling the nervousness that had hit him from the start. Luckily William was persuaded, letting him talk to Leo. If not? Then this will be a lot of trouble.

The girl sat nervously. I didn't dare to the eye. However, it is also rude to speak while looking down. Like it or not, Emely had to face the man. Now and then she glanced at Ben to ease her nervousness.

"What's the matter, Mr. Leo?" asked Emely, succumbing to her voice.

Leo's heart throbbed when he heard Emely call him 'Sir'. However, remembering how long they hadn't seen each other, made the man aware of his position.

"Em, well... can we talk informally?" Leo asked suddenly. He couldn't stand this awkwardness.

Emely was silent for a moment and smiled stiffly. There was no definitive answer, but Leo took it as an agreement.

Leo leaned over with his hands on his knees. His eagle eyes stared intently at Emely.

"Sorry," Leo said suddenly, making the girl look at him blankly.

They both mute to each other. Emily's mind suddenly went blank, while Leo was bombarded with questions.

"For?" Emily asked casually.

Leo was taken aback by Emily's attitude. He felt Emely was holding back her feelings, and it was true. The girl tried to act normal. Because he did not want to get carried away with the feeling of an old story that had not yet started. Moreover, Leo already has a child, which means the policeman is already married.

"Em... I mean, sorry for not giving any news for so long. I... I'm focused on education. So...."

"It's okay, Leo," Emely cut in, surprising Leo. Emily changed her nickname.

Emely put on her best smile. He tried not to get carried away. Whatever Leo was going to explain, it meant nothing to him. He couldn't and couldn't relate to Leo anymore.

"It's okay, Leo. It's just the past. Besides, I was a kid back then. So don't worry about it," said Emely, still smiling. However, it made Leo feel bad.

The man knew Emely must have something in his heart. Moreover, Leo had a promise that Emely might remember. However, seeing Emily's attitude that seemed to give a limit, made Leo not move.

"Um, fine. If there's nothing else to talk about, I have to go. William and Clara happen to be waiting. Later, Ben will come with us," said Emely as she stood up.

He embraced Ben's hand, who had been silent for a while listening to the conversation of the two adults.

"Dad's not coming?" asked Ben, innocently.

Emely and Leo looked at each other, then the girl quickly answered. "Ben's dad wants to work. Ben is with Mom and Clara, okay?"

Leo froze to hear Emily's words. It felt like there was a line between Emely and herself.

Without waiting for Leo to reply, Emely asked Ben to walk away. However, when he reached the doorstep Leo's question made Emely stiffen.

"Emely, who is that man?"

Silence. Nobody wants to start a conversation there. Emely was still thinking about Leo's question, while William was thinking about the policeman.

Two small children in the back seat are busy chattering. However, it did not fail to make the adults in front of them disturbed. Had it not been for Ben and Clara, things might have looked awkward.

William's car drove at a moderate speed, splitting the busy street. During that time, the two of them still felt at home in silence without a word being spoken by either of them.

Until the car entered the school yard, Emely chose to remain silent. Ben and Clara had gone down first. When Emely had just opened the car door, William's hand gripped it tightly.

The girl's reflex stomped William's hand. However, the man acted indifferently, as if nothing had happened.

"Who's the cop?" asked William to the point.

Emily's eyelids widened at William's question. The girl thought, that a cool and cold man like William would not care about his business. However, all guessed wrong.

"Who's he?" William asked again, this time his face was serious.

Emely immediately came to her senses and blinked a few times. "Oh, Leo? He's my little friend, we...."

"Stay away from him. I don't like it." William interrupted Emily's explanation while starting the car engine.

Inevitably Emely had to get out of William's car with many questions popping up. Then, without saying goodbye William just left.

Emely shook her head, then exhaled harshly several times. He didn't understand William. The man was unpredictable.

The application is not necessarily accepted. Then, with high confidence, William forbade Emely to have contact with other people. The girl was clueless.

He caught his breath again. After calming down, Emely invited two of her students to come to class.

Inspector Leo Wilson

The name was attached to his oversized shirt. Today, he should have started investigating a new case. However, since morning his thoughts were scattered. What else if it wasn't Emily's problem?

The last question he asked the girl got an answer that weighed heavily on his mind.

"He's William. The one who proposed to me."

The words kept ringing in my ears until they filled my brain. His work was so deceived because of curiosity. Yes, I wonder if Emely accepts the proposal of the man named William, or if Emely is still not bound by a proposal.

All of this makes Leo want to ask questions and get definite answers. Isn't this a chance to get Emely back and keep her promise that has passed? Then, about his wife, Leo would think about it.

The sound of footsteps woke him up. Leo returned his focus to the document in front of him. As Leo's hands began to open page after page, the footsteps stopped right in front of Leo's desk.

"So who did you stop by before coming here, Leo?" someone asked.

Leo immediately looked up. Adam Adam's reflex rose and fell. Emily's problem isn't over yet, now a new problem has come. What should Leo say?
