Chereads / System, I beg of you, let me die! / Chapter 11 - An unexpected reunion

Chapter 11 - An unexpected reunion

It was two days before the beginning of the second year, and Zed once again stayed in bed all day.

His objective is to cause his body to go through muscle atrophy, although he had a feeling that it won't work.

What was worrying was that for the past few days, he felt more and more dread, and he didn't know why.

Zed felt he would be in trouble if he didn't die in the next few days.

When the day was about to end, a screen he almost forgot existed appeared before him.

Congratulations, the system is going through an upgrade.

"What?!"

All this time, the system was quiet, and Zed thought he only had to be lucky once.

However, it seems the system did not stay quiet as he once thought.

'This is... really bad! What about the thirty years? I got fooled!'

Zed had been trying his best, but he didn't know what to do now.

Where are all the demons and evil supernatural beings? He was beginning to think that everyone was lying.

Zed knew it was not because of bad luck but because the world was too big for him to meet a strong monster out of nowhere repeatedly.

The twin demons were his best chance, but he was in deep trouble because he underestimated how much the demons wanted to make humans suffer.

But the worst problem in this world is that humans are not evil like he would read about in stories.

There is no super arrogant person wanting to kill you because you walked in front of him. There is no strong eat the weak; it was too modern.

After sighing, Zed began eating food because he was nervous.

Just like that, twenty-one hours quickly passed.

It was morning, and there was still a day left until Zed had to go to school.

Unfortunately, there was a screen in front of him.

System A – 1.0 Welcomes you.

Right after that, the familiar screen appeared before him.

"..."

Zed was speechless and almost coughed out blood.

One must know that practically everyone knows magic in this world where over fifteen billion humans live.

If he stayed in this world any longer...

In front of his eyes, a massive wheel full of different signs appeared.

‎A small screen appeared in front of his eyes.

Welcome to the fortune wheel.

For your first time, you get one roll for free.

'Guess I got no choice...'

Looking at the different signs, they were many exciting pictures, particularly those with a skull.

There were three circles inside the wheel and an arrow sign in one of the spots on each of the two outer circles, allowing one to enter the next inner circle.

Zed had to play by the system's rules if he wanted any chance at winning.

But Zed was still perplexed. Why were there prizes that were good for him?

There were still things he didn't understand in how the system operates, but maybe if he could acquire enough

tokens, he would be able to find out.

"...System, I choose to roll."

Slowly, the wheel began to turn clockwise, faster and faster.

After some time, the wheel finally stopped moving.

Zed suddenly felt excited as the wheel stopped on the arrow.

The wheel once again began rolling, and soon it stopped.

It stopped on a clock that had a blue aura around it.

Congratulations, you won 1x [Time Skip Button]

Description: This allows you to skip to a particular story arc you desire.

Restriction: You can only skip up to three arcs at a time.

"?!"

Zed was perplexed.

What is the meaning of the description?

'A story arc... what does this mean?'

After pressing the button, a screen appeared before him.

Choose a story arc:

1. International School Tournament ( Age: 12)

2. Training for [Null] ( Age: 17)

3. The [Null] (Age: 18)

4. Darkness and Sorrow ( Age: 20)

Zed looked at the four options with a blank face.

After reading these four options repeatedly, he felt more and more dread.

In particular, the second option revealed something Zed didn't consider.

Considering Zed was never going to train, there are two options.

The first option is that the button allows the system to take control of his body and cause him to be stronger, which is scary enough on its own.

However, the second option is more disturbing.

It could be that he is living inside a story written by someone.

Zed had a faint feeling that the second option was the truth.

After all, everything in this world is indeed too similar to his old world.

Countless thoughts were running through his mind.

'If there is a main character, what would happen if he died?'

'What will happen to this world when the story is finished?'

'…Why?'

Zed let out a sigh.

In the best case, his current abilities will stay the same as an adult, allowing him to search for strong opponents without being restrained by his age.

But in the worst case, the system will make him invincible.

More importantly, there was too much unknown information about his situation.

He had no choice but to use the services the system gave him.

"...System, I want to ask a question."
