Not only our lives changed, but also the lives of the other residents.
When I woke up in the morning, Shiro was already out and Nima seemed to be still asleep.
So I made my way to the Company quite early.
As soon as I got there, a man knocked on the door and came in with my permission.
< "Good morning Mr. M" >, a man with blond hair that looked like it had been licked and an elegant suit greeted me.
< "Who are you?" >, I asked him in astonishment.
< "Sorry I thought it was already told to you. I am Max, the newly selected man to be your right hand man" >, he explained to me.
< "Oh well, that's good to know. Nice to meet you Max" >, I told him.
< "Nice to meet you too Mr. M. Also Mr. M, we have another staff member out front that you haven't met yet. He is the science department manager. He is waiting for permission to enter" >, Max said.
I let him enter and he was not the typical crazy looking scientist like from Ake's stories.
<"Good morning Mr. M. My name is Dr. BarBari and as probably mentioned, the head of the science department" >, he introduced himself to me.
I was quite surprised.
Even if he didn't fit the descriptions, of Ake's stories, he still didn't look like a scientist.
Dr. BarBari looked more like a homeless child.
He was still quite young, his clothes were full of tears and holes.
On top of that, he also looked unkempt.
< "Why weren't you here yesterday with everyone else? I called for everyone, didn't I?" >, I asked him.
He always had a lowered gaze and looked carefully and anxiously at Max, who nodded and then said < "I was always locked in my room by the Tosa brothers in the evening after my working hours, so I can't go out without their permission " >, he explained to me.
Just as I was about to say something, he suddenly said < "I'm really sorry! Please forgive me, I should have been present anyway. That shouldn't be an excuse. Please forgive me!" >
I looked completely confused and said < "I'm not mad at you. Rather the opposite. Why did you get locked up, or rather, why are you working here when you're still a kid? " >
Max intervened and said < "Mr. M. If you need that kind of information, we have a better idea." >
Max called in someone from outside who was carrying a box.
< "There is a device in here that has all the information that our company has. It's a device that only the leader is allowed to have" > he explained to me and let me have it.
Before I could say anything, Max said <"Mr. M, with your permission, we would like to go back to work since we have something to do. If you need anything, you can reach anyone through the device in the box.">
I allowed them to leave and waited until they were out of the room.
Even though my thoughts were with Dr. BarBari right now, I tried to focus on the box on my table.
I opened the box and saw contact lenses.
Just as I was about to put them on, someone knocked on the door.
< "Come in," > I said, and Dr. BarBari entered the room.
< "What can I do for you?" >, I asked him.
< "I just wanted to offer to give you a tour of the science department so you know what we're all about and if you're happy" > Dr. BarBari explained.
I declined and said that I didn't have time for now, whereupon Dr. BarBari said < "I'm sorry, how could I ask you for such a thing, of course you can come whenever you want. I'm sorry, forgive me.">
It was clear to me from the first sight that there was something wrong with this boy.
I stood up and walked towards him.
You could see his fear from his chalky pale face.
When I stood in front of him, I bent down to him and when I moved my hand, he flinched and tensed his whole body.
However, I just took both his hands in my hand and told him <"What are you apologizing for? I was the one who couldn't accept your offer, if so I must be the one apologizing. I promise you we will do something together, I have found interest in you. Understand?" >
Dr. BarBari nodded his head, looking down again so that his face could not be seen, and then said goodbye.
As he closed the door to my room behind him, tears dripped from his face.
He was crying.
But he cried with a smile on his face.
His face turned red and the tears flowed like Niagara Falls down his face.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for being so nice to me," Dr, BarBari thought to himself and ran back to his work.
"Then we'll get back to the contact lenses," I thought to myself and sat back down at my table.
