Chapter 18 - CHAPTER-17

'God of Sea'

A modifier that sounds quite simple and precise, but is extremely heavy. In a way it could be explained as how even the unmatched, unspoken supreme sovereign of the world has accepted the presence of what could be considered a 'God' on one of it's tributary.

It was extremely rare of the supreme authority to mention a constellation with the title of God in it's writing. It was thus self explanatory on how powerful Poseidon was in the magnificent sea currently surrounding Jihan.

Poseidon, was one of the very few constellations that was extremely powerful, yet stayed away from the dealings of the book. It was said that it wasn't because of loyalty or anything so, but because of one reason that Poseidon himself told Yoon Jonghyun, the cannon fodder villain of the romance novel.

'We are a sinner.'

Yoon Jonghyun had quietly waited for Poseidon to speak further, who had looked back at him and smiled a very self loathing smile, his bent back showed how even the powerful go of sea had been worn out by the tides of time.

'Every being's sole purpose on earth, give and take, in the end is to make stories. Great human's stride towards the path of making histories.'

Jonghyun remained quite.

'To destroy such a history of great significance at which so many stories had grown as pretty branches, that a sin we have committed.'

Watching blood seep out of Poseidon's mouth, Jonghyun's face remained cold as stone, finally he replied in a chilly authoritative voice.

"...such petty self harm is not enough to pay for your crimes."

Poseidon seemed surprised at Jonghyn's reply and chuckled heartily.

"Haha, that's not it, We-I..I had for some reason, wanted to share, this week and pathetic story of mine, that has been constantly gnawing my very core."

"....."

'It was a sad chapter.'

Jihan had thought.

The 'I' in his sentence spoke many stories.

The constellations, had a quirky trait of referring to themselves in not one's tense but many. In the novel it was shown as their pride and ego.

'What pride and ego do they need to present in front of puny humans?'

Jihan had always wondered, it was during the second read that he had understood.

A human is made of one story, A constellation where as is made of many. In a way it carried the feelings of many selves/stories. It had countless conciousnes, it could no longer consider itself as I but We.

'Hmm, Kinda similar to split personality disorder? No what am I thinking?!'

It was no wonder that the supreme conquerers in the ancient time also referred to themselves as 'we', since they had one core history of a emperor and the other could be defined as their mundane stories.

'Of course, it was only applicable to some of them.'

Looking currently at the proud, high and mighty God of Sea, Jihan felt sad when he thought back of the Poseidon in the novel came down on earth many a times, harming his constellation body and his very core histories many a times to pay back for a sin that couldn't be remembered.

"...YOU ARE WEIRD HUMAN, HOW IS IT THAT OUR TRUE VOICE ISN'T HURTING YOU."

"..."

'Why the fuck am I zoning out in front of a fucking overpowered constellation'

"..T-that, I was actually calling out for Achelous."

"...HAHAHAHAHAHA"

Poseidon's thunderous voice made even the earth vibrate.

'This is bad, if he keeps laughing like that messengers are gonna get attracted here and start broadcasting to constellations'

"YOU DARE MENTION OTHER CONSTELLATION IN FRONT OF US HUMAN? HAHA YOU HAVE A LOT OF GUTS!"

"....Haha, it wasn't my intentio-"

"ARE YOU LOOKING FOR WHO BLESSED THE REEDS YOU HAVE BEEN PLAYING?"

"....You blessed the nymph?"

"YES"

"Not Achelous?"

"CORRECT"

"..Oh"

'SHIT'

Looking back at the fainted Jiho, Jihan felt guilty.

'I have been careless.'

Jihan then felt a stinging sensation on his skin making flinch as he looked back at The god od Sea in front of him.

"HOW DARE YOU ANGER THIS BODY HUMAN."

Jihan shuddered.

The naked loathing in the eyes of the being if front of him made him shudder.

'He can crush me like a bug and not look back.'

To be honest Jihan was lucky it was Poseidon he had angered and not someone else. As much powerful Poseidon was he had a history of being much considerate to humans, it is said it was because of his eternally dead human lover.

Jihan respected such a story and was always in awe with such a romance that he didn't believe could be seen in any history. A constellation had complete dominance over their emotions and could easily detach themselves from stories that gave them pain, that's why they were completely able to deeply attach themselves emotionally with various beings and experience love many a times.

'It was kind of a self defence in a way for such eternal beings from mundane emotions and exotic boredom that only they could experience.'

For such a powerful existence that even the supreme being acknowledged to love someone to such extent of what could be only defined as a simple world of 'endless satisfaction' was simply amazing. In a way it could be said that the human's love was enough for Poseidon for the 'endless eternity'.

"I apologise."

"HA"

"...Sorry."

"...DO YOU WANT ME TO LET YOU GO NOW?"

"I have a preposition for you 'God of Sea'."

"HMM? ENOUGH TO QUELL MY ANGER?"

"...maybe."

Poseidon was flabbergasted for a second.

'Is this how humans behave nowadays, what beasts at adaptation.'

Poseidon clucked his tongue inwardly. To be honest he had come up wondering if there was Pan's avatar here, since he had heard that ever so familiarly disgusting tune, coming up to find a soft little boy his anger had calmed by a lot already, he would have just scared him a little and left already.

'Hmm, are all humans this intriguing?'

Poseidon wondered. But looking at the humans bleeding and lying on the ground Poseidon felt it wasn't the case.

To be honest, taking on his true voice was difficult even for few low level constellations but this human seemed not only pretty fine, but he also conversed with him as he would have to a fellow human stranger.

The human in front of him talked as casually as he had talked to Zeus, who he met 100 years ago to attend the marriage of his favourite son.

'Shall we listen to what he has to say?'

Poseidon wondered as he looked down at Jihan sternly.

He watched as Jihan looked up at him with hesitant eyes, that look pretty endearing to look at on his soft little face.

"...I could free you from the curse of the nymphs."

'But he speaks pretty daring and might this one add infuriating things.'

Poseidon smiled good-naturedly, but the dropping pressure around him spoke otherwise.

"EXPLAIN."

Jihan swore that in the book when Poseidon behaved this way he would have screamed 'daddy' but right now he inwardly screamed 'daddy' in a whole different way.

"I-I know that you have acquired the curse of the nymphs due to a misunderstanding I might add, s-so I can basically help you get rid of it."

"...DO YOU KNOW THAT NYMPHS NO LONGER EXIST HUMAN?"

"I do."

"HO"

Poseidon had been under a curse for a very long time that wasn't directly harmful to him, but it was to the only two offsprings he had.

'To this day, this body remembers it.'

'I CURSE YOU! YOUR LINEAGE! TO ETERNAL DAMNATION OF BEING THE ONLY TO EXIST'

This curse had debarred his sons from having children since a long time ago.

'Not that they seemed to be very upset on the topic of having no offsprings.'

But something about those of words pinched his instincts that made him believe that it should be dissolved. But it wasn't possible since there were no surviving nymphs by the time he came to his senses.

'This uncouth body after all, often forgets how a blink of an eye is years for beings on mortal land.'

Poseidon sighed as thought so.

'We don't believe this human but somehow he making this one's instincts shake as if he was bringing in a force of something that has been long impending and feels inevitable and could be brought about this very immediate moment.'

Even though it wasn't a hostile feeling, Poseidon didn't appreciate the feeling of having something unknown this close to him.

'We would rather face it!'

Poseidon resolved internally as he listened half heartedly to Jihan.

Jihan on the other hand felt like a pressure comparable to a mountain was boring down on him. The heavy momentum was transmitted as he talked to Poseidon who just continued looking at him deeply.

'Aish why would a constellation listen to a stupid fuck such as him, will he kill me?'

"SO BASICALLY THIS BODY WILL TAKE YOU TO THE UNDERWATER TRIBE WHERE YOU WILL FIND A FRUIT NECESSARY FOR YOUR 'QUEST', AND THE. YOU WILL HELP US GET RID OF THE CURSE, IS THAT RIGHT?"

Jihan was flabbergasted for a moment,

"Yes."

"WHAT IF THIS ONE SAYS, I DON'T CARE OF THE CURSE?"

"You don't?"

"NO"

"Ha.."

'Will I have to use that for such a puny quest.'

Looking at Jihan who seemed frustrated, Poseidon felt a hint of humour in his heart.

Then he watched as Jihan chewed on what seemed some green seeds and drew something like a map on the paper.

"I know you have come to earth with this avatar form to search for a disciple, I am sure you have limited time here on earth, am I right?"

Jihan remembered a certain delinquent that seemed to be the best fit for this frustrating grandpa.

Poseidon's avatar flinched slightly.

"..HOW DO YOU-"

"It's my superpower, Don't ask."

"HO? HAVE YOU TAKEN DISCIPL-"

"I haven't."

Seeing Jihan who seemed a little short tempered, Poseidon felt a little embarrassed, but soon his eyes turned serious.

"ARE YOU SURE HUMAN?"

Jihan looked at directly at Poseidon's avatar's eyes.

"Yes"
