Ottom University, City of Alight:
It's just like any other day. The usual hot weather of city Alight, now accompanied with warm rays of afternoon sun and the always busy college, filled with students roaming through blocks to attend classes.
Ring~ ring ~
With the sound of the bell, lecturers began to exit their respective classes, while students bustled through the corridors to the canteen.
Coming out of her class, Cizzle raised her hand to cast a shadow on her eyes, peaking at the bright sun. Though everything seemed usual at first glance, unexpectedly, it's not what it looks like. The hot blazing sun is burning with vivacious intensity, unlike rest of the days.
She hates it. Why does it seem only she got a problem with the weather, when everyone else are busy with something or the other?
Maybe she has become sensitive lately. Assuming that, she shook her head vigorously, and tried to get a look at her phone, to check messages.
Dropping replies to every message, she looked like a busy person, forgetting about the rest of the world around her.
( Yes, this is a typical female lead characteristic, who forgets about the world when she is so into some work) ~ author
Not observing the girls approaching her, she simply stood there defenseless, and ended up getting startled when Tina loosely hung her hands around Cizzle's neck.
It felt like her heart jumped out of her chest, and she took a whole minute to calm herself. Turning to face Tina, what greeted her eyes were, a girl with purplish hair, grinning widely at her.
Scrunching her eyebrows, she pointed the obvious, " Did you dye your hair again?" She asked, her voice loud from the astonishment.
Tina didn't respond back, but grinned widely at her friend.
" You were late," Cizzle commented, not accustomed with waiting for anyone.
Displeased by his friends remark, Zackery replied her, " You are the one to speak. How could you hide the fact about your boy crush from me?" Sadness is evident on his face as he felt betrayed by her, when he told everything to her, and thought he was her closest confidant.
Though her heart didn't feel a pang of hurt by his actions, she tried to elevate his mood, " Ok, who wants to go partying?" She said, but she knew, everyone will accompany her if the place is "crystal"
" The treat is on you, " finally Tina opened her mouth, and the trio dragged their feet to their destination.
The evening is filled with fun and dancing. To top it all off, her mood is even better, as her unrequited love seems to come to an end soon.
The hunk in the college finally seemed to notice her and taking it as her chance, she placed a confession letter in his desk. All that's left is to hear his response, which she could care about all night, and enjoy the moment in hand.
Yes, till this day, her life seemed so perfect just like any teenage girl. Rather plain to say. Nothing notable has ever happened, but that's fine. She likes this life, and a long future is waiting for her, to fill the gaps that are missing now.
Friends who trust her, a family which showers her with love, along with the love of her life. Is there any word to describe this moment if not for 'perfect' ?
After a whole evening of partying, Zack dropped the two girls at their houses respectively and went back to continue the fun.
Reaching her home, Cizzle felt like crashing on her bed any moment. It's indeed better idea to have fun when your brain is filled with overthinking. Though she acted as if it doesn't concern her, she couldn't help but anticipate his response.
Phew~ sighing, she removed her heels and wore casual slippers. Entering the living room, her footsteps took a pause, her eyes widened in shock.
What addressed her was her parents, with a straight face, observing her from top to bottom, not budging from their seat on the sofa.
Her brain once again began to rack in high speed, trying to give a good excuse for her being late. She is doomed if they found her skipping classes.
" Did the neighborhood boy tattle on me? Why are they so serious? Dang it!! I should take the initiative to calm the tides, " her thoughts ran wild in panic.
" I can explain."
" We got something to say to you. "
Both her parents and she opened their mouths at the same time, elevating the tension in the room, as silence wafted through the room.
Beads of sweat began to form over her forehead. She can't help it when her parents have always been over sensitive whenever it concerned her safety. It's indeed her fault this time.
"I mean, how did time just went by and its already 1 A.M ? Since when they were waiting for me? " She wondered, not daring to speak her thoughts out.
Unlike the expected harsh tone, her mother called her with a voice filled with sadness, " Cizzle, my daughter, come and take a seat next to mother, " she called her out sweetly, trying to swallow the sadness, knowing it can't be avoided anymore and they have to reveal everything to her.
At the voice of her mother, Cizzle's shoulders trembled in fear. Usually they would start with a scolding, which ends up with an argument, and thei dad being the mediator. So what is this sudden change? Did her mother change her tactics in raising?
Irrespective of her doubts, she still went near her and sat as instructed.
" Sweetie, listen carefully to everything we say now, " this time, her dad spoke, with the same heavy voice as her mother.
" What happened? Did someone die here? Where's Steve? I didn't get a glimpse of him today, Did he get into an accident?, " her face crumpled at that thought. Without getting to the point, her parents are scaring the shit out of her.
" Father, please get to the point. Where's Steve?" She asked, worried about her brother's wellbeing.
Understanding that she misunderstood the whole story, her father immediately clarified her, " Don't worry sweetie. Steve's already asleep in his bedroom. We are here to talk about you, " He spoke, not knowing how to phrase his next words and where to begin with.
Crinkling her eyebrows, she raised another question, " What's about me?" She asked, not knowing what made them so worried about her.
Knowing his husband is getting a hard for giving the explanation, her mother spoke in his stead, " Sweetie, your father and I tried our best to protect you till now, but it seems we can't carry that anymore. It's our fault for being weak, " she blamed herself, still beating around the bush.
Water began to fill to the brim of her mother's eyes. What's she on about?
" Calm down mother. Please rest for the night, we can continue tomorrow, " She declared, thinking she can't get any useful information now, witnessing her mother's weak state, who usually run around the house bossing everyone around.
At the thought of tomorrow, her mother began wiping, while her father let his mind out, " But they will be here tomorrow to pick you up, " his voice ran through the silent hall, accompanied by her mother sobbing.
" Who are coming?" The question floated.
Again, her eyebrows met in between. What's wrong with her parents? They have been running around the topic, only to fill her mind with unanswered questions, " Who are coming for me? "
