" Who are coming?" The question floated through her father's ears.
Taking a deep breath, her father closed his eyes, before telling her the heavy truth, " Our sweet heart, sorry to break it to you only now, but we are not humans, and this city is not safe for you anymore, " he told, preparing answers for a bombardment of questions.
Again, her eyebrows met in between. What's wrong with her parents? They have been running around the topic, only to fill her mind with unanswered questions, " What do you mean by we are not humans? I have the same face, hands and legs just like any other, then what Am I if I am not a human?" Unintentionally, she raised her voice, fed up with them beating around the bush.
Her father didn't scold, despite her being rude, instead nodding his head as if he could understand her, " I know it's hard to understand, but that's what it is. Just because you have a head and body like others doesn't make you a human. We belong to a separate species. We are werewolves and this is not where you belong, " he finally uttered the truth, leaving her gasping.
She began to doubt her father, so she turned to her mother, " Mother, did father get a hit to his head? Or did he see too many paranormal movies? Why does he speak like that? " She questioned, not trusting his words.
I mean, who in their right mind would believe his words, when they have been living in this city from her childhood and always mingled among crowds?
Her mother's head dropped down at her question. How can a mother say such harsh truth and break her daughter's heart? Maybe she is overthinking and thinks her baby is a sensitive child.
" Your father is right baby. You must have had a hard time fighting against the hot weather here. " Her mother spoke, feeling guilt.
As she listened to her mother's words, she unconsciously nodded her head in agreement, as her thoughts became jumbled pieces knowing she is a werewolf.
Indeed it's getting hard to continue living here, she even had a thought to change cities because of this sole reason, but what aghast her most is, how her mother found it out, when she herself never gave any details regarding her discomfort.
Pricking at her conscience, her mother apologized to Cizzle, " Sorry baby, because of our selfish wish, we made you suffer. " She said, knowing how hard it is for a werewolf to cope up with a harsh climate.
Holding onto her mother's hand, the girl who barely reached 19 finally softened her voice, trying to reason with her parents.
" Mother, father, " she called both her parents, and just like she wished, both of them payed whole lot attention to her, " Please explain in detail. By werewolf, you didn't mean the wild dog that's shown in movies right? " She asked doubtfully, hoping that's not real, but some truths are hard to face.
How could she possibly deny her existence till now and accept their words?
Both her parents gnawed at her choice of words. How did they end up in this situation?
Denying their thoughts, her mother continued, " It's exactly like you thought baby. We can explain this, " her mother spoke, which sounded like an excuse, as her mom used the same words as her earlier.
Cizzle couldn't help but scoff at herself.
" Tell me all of it is just a stupid dream, " she spitted out, denying reality.
Not minding her words, her mother continued, " Since the beginning, it's never our choice to live the way we want. Your grand parents and my grandparents and the generation before them, everyone were descendants of werewolves. However, since the past three generations, we have entered dormant state and assumed it would be the case for you, but we were once again proved wrong. You are not just any normal werewolf, but the chosen one and it's your destiny to rule the clan. "
What seemed like a long story actually ended with a brief description of the situation.
Dormant? Chosen? Clan? Ruler?
All these words seemed so distant to her.
Tugging her strayed hair behind her ears, Cizzle took few deep breaths in and out, calming herself down. It felt more ridiculous the more she listened to them.
Just like that, her world is going to turn upside down.
" Mom, If I am really the beast you mentioned, then why now? But not before?" She pointed what felt like an valid point to her.
Her mother fell into silence. Knowing well of her daughter, even though if Cizzle could accept the fact of her being an werewolf, she is sure that Cizzle couldn't just sit quite with the answer.
" It's because you were a late bloomer, " her father told, oblivious to his daughters feelings.
Her eyes widened hearing his response. " Late bloomer? Late bloomer? " Her mind rewinded the word non-stop, upon getting a blow to her pride.
She is someone with high self-esteem and now, she can't settle eyes with her father.
How could it be possible in real? It ain't a TV show or drama.
Phew~ her father heaved a sigh before continuing, " You might have not noticed it till now, since the changes only began recently. But, all of your senses must have been heightened, including from your sight, hearing and smell. Not to mention, your body temperature must have risen beyond a human's body temperature and you already find it hard to live in hot temperatures. " He listed few characteristics. However, to convince his daughter, he need live proof.
Looking at her clasped hands, he remembered a recent incident that spilled blood in their house.
"Do you remember when you got a cut from the knife?" He asked, to which she opened her fists.
The cut was deep and her right fist still covered in bandage.
Her mother took her right hand and began to undo the bandages. Soon her bare hand came into their vision and Cizzle exclaimed in surprise, " How is it possible?" She asked, still doubtful about the magical healing ability.
The doctor surely instructed it would take atleast a month for her cut to lighten, then what magic was performed on her wound, for it to disappear?
To all her questions, her father's single sentence answered, " Fast healing abilities are one of the greatest advantage of our type," he concluded.
Till now she didn't trust an ounce of her parents words, but now, her world began to crumble in front of her. What kind of pandora is it?
No, to begin with, should she consider it as a gift? How does her life would change now? Can she even live a normal life? The people who would come to pick her up, how did they find out about her? Are they beastmen?
Understanding her, both of her parents decided to give her sometime to accept everything. Soon the dawn breaks and the representatives will arrive to take their precious daughter away from them. Though they want to oppose it, they have no means to protect their child.
Forget about money, it's the actual combat they are lacking in and they can't let their other child fall in danger, trying to protect one child. Though its harsh for everyone, they should accept it and send her away from them.
Only then, she can live and that's their only option.
Leaving her alone, her parents went inside their bedroom, collecting important things they should be giving her to adapt the life there.
Left alone in the room, Cizzle felt a loneliness which she never experienced and an emptiness in her heart. Though she maybe able to accept the part her being a werewolf, how can she live without her parents around?
She wants them to come along with her, but that means they would bring Steve along, who would grow up among beasts, which isn't a safe idea. So, though she wanted to, she can't speak her mind, compromising for her brother.
How's life going to be? She don't know. Except for her parents little story, she don't know anything and she isn't sure of herself. Can she even live a single day there?
With all such thoughts, soon the time went by and it was already a little past 5 A.M
That night, none in the home got a wink of sleep, except for her little brother, who is still young to participate in such discussions.
Tring~ tring~
The doorbell rang. Her parents finally opened their room door and saw their daughter, still sitting at the same place as last night. It means she never left to her room and sat the whole night, thinking about what's to come.
Knowing she won't be able to open the door, her father went to receive the guests.
As soon as he opened the door, the person opposite gave a bow and exchanged few quick plesantries.
" Good morning sir, We are here to take her lady back to the clan, " the man spoke un-hesitantly, hitting the ball straight into the goal.
