Matthew burst out crying.
Olivia rarely sees Matthew cry. Matthew was like his mother. He wanted to show everyone, especially Olivia that he is a strong person. Matthew never cries in front of everyone.
Seeing Matthew cry in front of her made Olivia dumbstruck. It was as if seeing a different side of him…the vulnerable and weak side of him which she had never seen before. Matthew has always been a strong man. He was Olivia's protector…he was her shield. So it astonishes her and at the same time worries her to see him break down like that.
