Synopsis

Chapter 1 - 1.

Speak about rotten luck. Nova shuddered__ from both cold and fear, as she glanced left then right across the streets drenched from head to toe.

The street was deserted with nothing but the sounds of heavy rain torrents shattering her eardrums as she struggle to keep her feet on the ground. Just to be sure, she glanced across the dark road again before dashing as fast as her wobbly feet can take her.

"Five more minutes,"

She will make it. She had to make it.

For so many reasons that is. Her health, whatever shreds of dignity she had left, in fact, her life itself depended on it. Letting go of the pants that was clinging to her not so chubby body like a second skin, Nova ruffled her short plastered dark hair over her face, covering her eyes as much as she could as she hurriedly entered the convenient store on the other side of the street.

'I did it!' she mentally cheered. 'I've ventured into the forbidden zone all alone peoples! Although gramps would probably faint at the news.'

She did a mental dance in her head.

If she make it out alive. But of course she would. With her head glued to her not so endowed chest, she shrank as much as she can to avoid getting caught on the camera.

No, she is not some wanted criminal that needed a disguise ASAP. Although she felt and looked like one. And might even be considered as one due to trespassing.

Well, she's a criminal in the actual sense of the word. If being in a thug gang doesn't make you one, then no one would be considered a criminal on the face of Earth.

But no one would know that if she's not caught.

Spending the night at the station is the last thing she needed right now.

Thankfully, the store was empty, it saved her much trouble that she obviously lack the energy to deal with.

Heading towards the toiletries aisle, she heaved out a deep sigh of relief and quickly grabbed some pads and toilet papers.

At the long last.

Nova grimaced catching her reflection on a glass behind the register. She looked like a hobo. No, a drenched church mouse.

But after spending a whole hour under the rain, she ought to look like one.

She shifted on her legs as she waited for the boy to rang her up. He had been giving her a weary glance the moment she stepped in, with one hand hovering over the phone next to him just in case.

Nova rolled her eyes at that.

If she was a robber, he'd be probably having a few holes in his chubby body and perhaps a few missing limbs.

Perhaps.

Even with weapons, she isn't exactly sure if she can handle an adult male, even if he was fat and slow despite the fact that she is supposed to be a gangster. And a prodigy at that.

She shook her head to get rid of the depressing thought, earning more suspicious stares from the boy.

Hopefully he wouldn't recognize her. Although she seldom come to this side of the town, the forbidden zone as they call it, given her identity, she wouldn't be surprised if he knew who she was. That is why she needs to get out.

Fast.

Securing her items under her oversized hoodie, Nova dashed back out into the rain again. She had gotten what she came for, all that remains now is to cross the road that is not more that 20 steps away and get the hell out of this danger zone.

And victory will be hers.

She heaved a deep sigh a little too early when the doors behind burst opening aloud with a loud ruckus coming from the men that joined her on the street. From all indication, they were drunk and laughing their butts off. Too drunk to care about the rain drops beating down on their heads.

The Sliverfangs. She needn't look to know who they were.

"Crap!" Nova almost tripped as she got ready to bolt across the road. She is already close. She rather take her chances with the incoming vehicles than get caught by them. Unfortunately, her suspicious act only drew their attention and she found herself getting dragged back by her hood.

"What do we have here?" Her predator drawled as she got pulled back into their circle.

"A rat!" Another slurred in a cheery deep voice as they broke out in an unnecessary laughter. Their foul breath had her slapping her hands across her nose and cursed.

"Kid, did you have any idea where you are? Dare to steal under our sensitive noses?" He gestured vaguely around.

"Perhaps its homeless... I mean check out it's clothes." They taunted.

Your grampa is homeless.

"Awww, you poor thing, it's even malnourished."

"Damn it. Today is so not my day."

Violet lamented as they argue over her existence. Her blood boiled in her veins at the insults dashed out to her but she couldn't bring her self to talk back. Hell, it was better that they mistook her for a thief, and not recognize who she is.

She, Violet Nova Nightowl, the sole heir of the once worthy gang founded by her great grand parents is reduced to such a sorry state. Although in all honesty, she wasn't alive when it was in it's limelight, those were only stories she heard about her ancestors before their migration to this country. There is still a miniscule doubt about the whole truth in her mind.

And it all started with a pad.

As if the whole universe is against her, not only did she run out of pads and tampons at this damned hour of the day when she needed them, even the toilet papers had mysteriously disappeared. In order to save her dignity as a woman, she couldn't ask someone to get them for her even though the boys would gladly do it.

Thus she had to drag her legs out of her comfy blanket at 7pm despite her stomach cramps to the store. Thankfully, she isn't having a heavy flow considering its just starting. And just her luck, all the stores and pharmacies on the left side of the town were either closed or had soled out. Although Nova knew they were just being pussies and wouldn't sell it to her.

Like, is that even possible?

She spend more than an hour going in circles and on more occasions than one she had debated on checking in on her bestfriend Freddie if she has one. But the girl is currently out of town and breaking into her home just didn't feel right.

After spending that much energy and time, she can't afford to go home empty handed. As if the heavens had a personal vendetta against her, it started to rain leaving her with no option but to come here, the forbidden zone.

Willow being an old, small town infested with gangs of thugs, is divided into two parts. Her gang, the Nightowls, somehow managed to secure a base on the north while the Silverfangs

occupied the

south.

It goes without saying that each gang stays on their turf. If not for the fear of the Silverfangs, Nova ought to if she didn't want to get torn into shreds by the ridiculous amount of wolves they are fond of keeping as pets.

But here she is.
