Chapter 98 - Chapter 98 Childish Argument

After the butler Left, he returned with Prof. Lily and as she entered, she greeted Mr. Cobalt.

"Thank you for the warm welcome sir, Cobalt, here are some gifts from Father."

"Long time no see child, you shouldn't, but I will gratefully accept it. He said as he made a gesture and the butler received the gift, he then offered her a seat.

"Come sit, I was discussing something with these kids and I think you will be interested in it."

"I did notice them earlier but to think we were going to the same place we should have gone together."

She then looked and greeted us.

"Hello Lady Alicia and Lady Alissa, And also to you young man."

""Hello Professor Lily.""

"Hello Ms. Lily."

"Big brother."

And as she was greeting us the child Litia noticed I was there and hugged at the sight of me.

"She really is close to you.

"Oh, is she that child?" Seemingly noticed who the child was Mr. Cobalt asked.

"Yes, I thought it was okay now since she is already getting used to his living conditions, so why not explore the place while we are at it?"

"Haha, that's fine I have a grandson myself I know how that feels."

"Oh, I remember that boy who seemed eager to attend school huh?"

"Yeah, he sure is, right now he is learning magic, after his coming-of-age ceremony."

"He is such a hard-working child I guess he really likes magic huh?"

"Not really, the truth is he was actually kind of influenced by someone and now he wants to be like the guy."

"Is he a famous adventurer or something?"

"No, I think he is a student at your academy."

"Really? Maybe we can help those to see each other. What do you think?"

"I bet my grandson will like it."

"That's great. What is his name?"

Knock, knock.

As Mr. Cobalt was about to answer, a knock on the door interrupted them.

With a gesture from Mr. Cobalt, the Butler opened the door. And a small shadow passed by and directly hugged Mr. Cobalt.

"Grandpa!"

"Oh, Jake it's you. You were here just yesterday. Did you miss me by any chance?"

"Ehehe."

"Oh, it's your grandson Jake, He has grown taller since last time I saw him."

"Yes, he has, go introduce yourself to our visitors."

"Okay! Good morning, everyone my name is Jake Cobalt."

The boy then introduced himself to us and upon looking at him I understood.

'So, he really is the grandson of Mr. Cobalt.'

"Father excuse me, did Jake come here?" A woman then got in and asked Mr. Cobalt about the boy. And as I expected it was her mother.

"Yes, he just got in."

"Big bro!"

At the same time as Mr. Cobalt told her he was here, Jake noticed I was here.

"Long time no see Jake." I said as I raffled his hair a bit.

"""..."""

Seeing that the whole place was silent.

"Mr. Cobalt, the boy you are looking for is him?"

"I don't know anything about him other than his name. Is this the boy who saved the two of you?"

Wanting some confirmation, he asked Jake's mother. In which she complied.

"Ah, Yes Father He is Mr. Anglos."

"I see, Jake really is fond of this guy huh?"

"Mhm, He is a kind child."

"…" As everyone was talking, one person was quiet the whole time.

"Who's this kid?"

Having noticed Litia's gaze, Jake asked in a rude manner.

"Hey now that's not polite, a gentleman should be kind to ladies."

Hearing his rude remark I tried to reprimand him a bit.

"Oh sorry, big bro but who is she really? She seems clingy to you."

"She's Litia and-"

"And I'm closer to my big brother than you."

"Wha-, who do you think you are?"

"I'm not a kid, I am ten."

"That's a lie. You are shorter than how can you be older? You-...mfmfmmf."

as Jake was about to continue to talk his mother arrived and stopped him.

"Sorry about Jake, he isn't usually like this."

She then took Jake to talk with her privately..

"Jake, you can't be like this."

"B-but…but."

Stuttering to his words sighed and talked to him in the corner.

"I didn't know you were close to the Cobalt family."

Surprised by what happened, Alissa exclaimed in shock.

"Well, we rode the same train when I arrived to enroll here."

"Ah about that thank you, young man, if I had known it was you, I wouldn't have been so hard on you guys."

Mr. Cobalt said as he talked to me and continued.

"But I'm quite envious you are close with the kids."

"Wait? When you said thank you, did Mr. Anglos do something to help them? And if so, does that have any connection to the train hijack incident?"

Curious Lady Alicia asked not knowing why Mr. Cobalt had a change of attitude towards me.

"Yes, but that isn't all. My grandson Jake. He is usually not motivated to do anything and seeing or might be because of the incident, he took the initiative to learn."

"Oh, is that so?."

"Yes, it is."

"That's good."

"Enough with that for now sis. Let's talk about business. I heard Professor Lily has the same thought as us. What do you mean by that?"

Wanting to learn more about the plan Professor Lily has, the two sisters asked Mr. Cobalt and Professor Lily about what they know and plans to do in the future.

As for me I was sitting down and playing with Litia for a bit.

"Okay Litia look where is it?"

"Hmmm, here."

"Wrong, it's here."

Playing with kids is fun and calming for me even during my stay at the Saga Empire both Dylan and Fina are there to ease my worries.

So, listening to them ramble and joining it might backfire so I'll just play with the Litia.

"Mr. Anglos thank you again also Jake has something to say. Go on."

"Do I have to?"

"Jake."

"Fine."

Although reluctant Jake cannot seem to say no to his mother so he forced himself to look at Litia and spoke.

"I'm sorry for my behavior earlier. And I won't do it again so would you please be friends with me."

"…. No."

"Eh…. Why you-"

The two then started an argument and not wanting them to hurt themselves we kept them apart.

"Litia, why don't you want to forgive Jake?"

"I forgive him but being his friend is a different thing. He is mean to me so I don't want to."

Hearing the explanation I turned to Jake and spoke.

"You heard that Jake, she forgives you but you need to be nice to her if you want to be friends."

"Hmph."

"Jake."

Seeing how the kids were doing we were at a loss on what to do.

"How about going outside in the garden for a bit? I think going out for a while would be good for the kids."

Noticing our plight Mr. Cobalt gave a suggestion

"Oh right, let me show you how good I am with magic right now big brother Cole."

"Okay sure."

"Thank you for the suggestion, Father."

"Can I join?"

As we were about to leave Lady Alicia asked for herself to join. And Jake's Mother approved as she explained her reason.

"Yeah, I think it is alright we usually have a healer and potions ready when practicing magic so having the saint with us would be reassuring."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Outside the mansion of the Cobalt Family, Jayven and the others were watching as Jake cast his spells.
"!"
Although struggling for a bit he casted a fireball at the size of his head and it flew fast as it hit the target.
"Wow, that's great. You did well there Jake."
" You improved son. Or is it because you want to show off?"
"What are you talking about Mom? I did great because I am talented."
"Hmph you call that a spell? Watch this."
Seeing what happened Litia came forward and activated a spell of her own.
"."
With a light forming like a spear, her spell flew straight to the target.
"Eh?"
"That's a tier 2 spell Light Javelin."
"To think she is able to do that."
"I can do better. Nggghhhh... !"
As though he didn't want to lose. Jake forced himself to cast the spell. But it became unstable.
Realizing this we tried to stop him.
Oh no!
Jake, stop!
"."
Alicia then activated her spells creating a protective healing barrier around us making the flame extinguished and Jake safe.
"Jake, are you alright?"
"Why did you do that!? Why?"
Her mother yelled at him as she embraced Jake while also crying.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
After a few minutes, Jake calmed down and his mother started to lecture him.
"Is it my fault?"
Seeing what happened Litia started to blame herself. And not wanting this child to suffer anymore I calmed her down.
"No, it's not. It was all an accident and I know you only did what you did not knowing what would happen. So please lighten up okay? Look, Jake's okay."
Knowing what I meant she turned to look at Jake and seeing his alright she calmed down.
