Seeing the signs about me which read " adventurer guild main branch" I got in and saw many people who are quite quirky to say the least. Not like I am talking about quirks with my get up on.
Shrugging with their stares I head to the counter and talk to the receptionist.
"I would like to register."
"Of course, here write down some details about yourself in this paper and if you have any questions ask me and if you are done palace your hands on this plate right here."
Hearing that I got on writing. The paperwork is not that different from what I know in those fantasy novels I read.
Asking about my strength and abilities name age gender. It also has written space for beast companions, so I put in Titan.
"Oh you have a beast companion. If I may ask, is it a summoned beast since I don't see it anywhere."
"Ah yes he is."
"Okay can you please summon him since we'll also need to scan him in this plate. Plus we need to put this collar on him just in case you will summon him outside."
Hearing that I complied and summoned Titan.
And when I summoned him he just looked around then bit and got in his shell.
Well it didn't hurt that much but maybe he is just annoyed or something.
"Oh is he an earth turtle and from the looks of it it's still at its early stage."
I didn't answer her since he isn't one. Afterwards, I look up at many species in the library but he isn't like any beast. As for the earth turtle it just resembles him and it isn't even close when knowing what this little hunk of junk can do.
After everything was done I placed my hand on the plate.
And just as I had thought it was like the tablet from the coming of age ceremony.

"All done since you are a rank two individual you may go for an assessment for making your rank suitable to your capabilities. But if not you can just start at the lowest rank F, still it is best to have you raise your rank to avoid misunderstanding."
I thought about what she said and I think it is quite alright to test my strength but still I want to try raising my rank from the bottom to top.
"I'm okay with starting low since the reason why I want to be an adventurer is because I want to have a good learning experience."
"But you can't raid a dungeon if you're not at least D rank and even if you have a group it still won't work because all have to be at least that rank. Not to mention the eight labyrinth towers. Who needs to be at least C rank to get a permission to enter."
"It's okay after I am not in a hurry."
"Okay then here's your guild card as I explained earlier the request board is there and when you finish the requirements for a rank up you can take a rank up exam. But since you are still F rank you won't need a rank up exam. After all, rank up exams are only required when ranking to rank C and above."
"Thank you."
After she left a few words to me I went to the request board.
I think these three are good.
Thinking of that I got to another counter, since the other one became occupied after I left, and so accepted three requests.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Fine then since you're determined here. Now shoo, I need to take care of something."
I guess not all receptionists are not the same huh. Well people are different from each other after all.
I got out and started doing my quest. I chose to add jobs for my quest. And no I didn't choose the herb gathering ones. I am thinking of choosing them after familiarizing the place and after I acquire a map around the city.
The quest I took was finding a puppy, helping with construction, and cleaning sewers..
Plus this request runs for a week so it's good.
So the first thing I did was search for the puppy. With this quest I can look around town and get familiarized with it quickly.
And after looking for almost a day I found the puppy and rested for the day.
Then the day after I arrived at the construction site.
Hello, I'm here to help with the construction.
"You, In that armor? Can you work in that?"
I can understand his concerns but this armor is quite flexible despite its look.
"Yes, very much I can."
"Alright then. Go carry these logs over there."
"Yes sir."
"As I answered I moved those logs and continued to do so till I was done."
"Come here boy can help me carry it up."
"Sure thing."
I answered back to an old worker here and helped him with carrying the woods.
This goes on as I help the other workers as well with menial task till it was evening.
"Good work everyone."
Then the work ended.
"You there, adventurer."
"Yes sir."
"You're quite polite. Anyway, where's the request form?"
"Here "
I showed it to him and he signed it.
"Um sir I thought I would be working for at least three days."
"It's fine the construction is almost finished thanks to you. And I think tomorrow this will be done, you help us shorten our work in just a few days. Plus there is a bonus for that when you turn it in the guild."
"Thank you sir."
I thanked him and left and since I am finished with the other requests I thought of finishing the rest before turning it all in.
The next day I cleaned the sewers and thanks to my armor I wasn't wet, not to mention I am always clean thanks to the runes put in it.
Although this might be disgusting I thought of the secret passages in the empire. And it led me to think that there might also be secret passages here so I want to try my luck finding one.
So after days of hard work I finish all requests on the third day and turn it in. I got inside the guild and got in line for the receptionist and turned in the signed forms
"Here's all of them."
In front of me was the receptionist who shooed me out.
"Oh you did a good job finishing these in three days."
As she said that she received the forms and gave me my rewards after that she said something quite intriguing.
"Well your record is good but the adventurer the other day was something ranking up twice in just one day."
So there was an amazing adventurer huh. Kind of like something you read in novels but ranking up by two ranks at once that's amazing. That's not got anything to do to me though.
I headed out again and took some menial jobs inside the town.
This continued for a week and here I thought working as an adventurer really doesn't give much money like what was said in the novels huh.
A week passed by and I only have 5 silver coins. This is really not a good way to make money. And some might argue you need to take high ranking quest to rake some more money.
But I am really doing this for the experience so I can't just speed run this shit. Making up my mind to resolve myself.
I am now inside the merchant guild and showed them my guild card not the adventurer one but for my current identity it was prepared before I came here so it's good.
"I would to purchase a building for my shop"
"Here you are sir you can choose which one you like.*
Seeing the map I told him of what I like and he gave a good recommendation although I haven't seen it yet I told to just renovate the place.
"Okay sir the renovation should be done by tomorrow just go onsite and show the paperwork to the head over there and it's all yours."
Hearing that, I was glad because it is mostly impossible to get scammed from this transaction in the merchant guild since it involves their reputation.
"I would also like to have workers where I can hire them?"
"What kind of workers do you want?"
"Obedient, hard working and tight lip."
"Hmm I think my friend can help you with that.*
As he said that he gave me a card and there it says "Lector's slave's shop". I wasn't looking for slaves and when I was about to say that another person came in and cut me off even though I wasn't done yet.
Without me even noticing a lot of people were kicked out.
And we were only given an explanation that a big shot had just arrived.
Since this happened I thought of coming back again tomorrow.
But when I returned it was still off-limits.
