"Your world was just introduced to mana so that means that only humans and beasts will occupy it, but that won't last forever." He was interrupted by a confused Havok.
"Huh? Does that mean the world will be invaded?"
The man nodded, "Correct, it's good that you are not an idiot. You must have felt the world shaking, that was because several large chunks of mana crashed into this planet. When mana gets introduced to a planet everything changes. Usually, the changes happen slowly over a period of time, but this is a special situation. Such large amounts of mana being introduced all at the same time will force the planet to change rapidly. Even I am not sure what effects that will have on the population or the number of dungeons."
"Dungeons are what manifests if an area is particularly rich with mana. A dungeon is an environment that forms around a dungeon core. All you will see is a portal, it's not until you step through it that you are able to see what type of dungeon it is.."
"A dungeon is a neutral area, usually it is the people from the planet that gets there first that are the ones that control it. Two worlds will each have a portal that connects to the dungeon and they both battle for control of the dungeon core. Now whether they destroy the core or protect it and use the dungeon as a training ground is up to whichever planet is in control of the dungeon. Dungeon cores are what power the portals and create the environment inside the dungeon. Destroying the core will close the dungeon and both portals. Destroying dungeon cores is the best way to make sure that your planet is not invaded. Dungeons also have ranks just like everything else. You can tell the rank of a by the glow it has around the portal that leads to the dungeon. The rank of the dungeon will determine how strong those that enter are allowed to be. However, they do not have a minimum for the rank of those that can enter. Which leads to most planets sending their slaves, non-rankers and those with low intelligence into dungeons to train and stall the process of the dungeon core being destroyed, so that they can eventually invade a planet. There is also a limit to the number of those that are allowed to be in the dungeon at the same time, which applies to each planet."
"I already mentioned two things you could do with dungeon cores, but there is a third that I did not mention earlier. You can steal it, which will also close the dungeon and the portals. The reason you take the core is because they also have affinities and the environment inside the dungeon will reflect that. A dungeon core is also pure mana. For example, if a dungeon is filled with flames, that shows that the dungeon has a fire affinity. However, where you find the dungeon does not reflect what affinity it will have once you enter it. You can find a dungeon underwater and enter to find that it is a dungeon with the wind affinity. Those that enter a dungeon matching their affinity receive a slight boost in their abilities."
"If you have the same affinity as the dungeon core you can absorb it and it will increase the size of your mana core as long as the rank is high enough. If the rank isn't high, it is still beneficial to keep the dungeon core for when you are low on mana, it will be able to replenish your core. Dungeons are basically training grounds and they provide tremendous benefits if you are able to monopolize them."
"The people from both planets can also gain things like techniques, weapons and equipment from those they kill. However, the dungeon core absorbs the mana from anyone that dies there. Which over time will allow the dungeon to rank up. The longer a portal stays open, the more likely it is that one planet will invade the other. The inhabitants of this planet will most likely not be invading any other planets anytime soon. On the other hand, it is a guarantee that your planet will be invaded this way. The good news is that it will take some time. The dungeons have to form and then the other race has to win the battle for the dungeon core. By the time the other planets are able to invade, the people of this planet should have enough strength to defend themselves. Even when the invaders do come, in the beginning they will all be low level rankers. As time goes by the level will begin to increase.
"Dungeons are the way that invaders are able to conquer a planet. In order to maintain the planets safely, dungeons need to be maintained. If the number of inhabitants inside are allowed to grow unchecked, sooner or later, a dungeon break will occur. A dungeon break is what it's called when one planet is able to make their way through the other planet's portal. Once they arrive on the planet, they are free to do whatever they want. Their planet also likely controls the dungeon, and they will be able to continuously send invaders and massacres will occur. The only good news is that their rank is still limited by the rank of the dungeon."
"You said a massacre will occur if a dungeon break happens right? Will the rankers here not be strong enough to fight back?" Asked Havok with a furrowed brow.
"The reason it will be a massacre when they arrive is because other planets and races believe wholeheartedly in survival of the fittest. The weak on their planets are trampled and treated as slaves for the strong. The first ones to arrive on this planet will be the weakest that a planet has to offer and to avoid going back to their status of slave, if not just being out right killed for being weak, they will give it their all to get as strong as they can and gain some status for themselves back on their home planet. Which means killing anyone they can and growing stronger. Humans might say they believe in survival of the fittest, but they don't operate that way because it would be perceived as evil. They try to keep up the facade of being civil and ruling justly even though everyone else knows that it's pure bulllshit. Humans do the same things that they condemn as evil or immoral, but just do it underhandedly. That is why humans are looked down upon by other races… '' When he began speaking about the humans' hypocrisy his anger flared up and killing intent began to radiate off of him. This made Havok's body freeze as he struggled to breathe as the smell of blood and dead bodies filled the air around Havok.
Havok was drenched in sweat, shivering and vomiting from whatever energy that man was releasing. The man realized what was happening and restrained himself. Havok looked at the man strangely when he regained control of his body. He wiped the vomit from his lips and was able to breathe again. He wondered why this man has such a harsh view on humans, not that he minded because he also had no love for humanity. He was just curious about his backstory, but he decided against asking because they were both entitled to their secrets; besides they had just met.
After catching his breath Havok finally spoke, "The way you speak about humans makes it sound like you aren't one. Are you not a human?"
"I am not a human. My home planet was destroyed, and I crash landed here inside those enormous chunks of mana and that is how this planet gained mana. However, while crash landing here I punctured that barrier that protected your planet from stronger experts from other planets invading or even noticing this planet. The only reason I was able to crash on this planet instead of being repelled when I hit the barrier is because I was injured and unconscious. Also, my body was destroyed, and my core was damaged. Each planet has a similar barrier, after a while it will repair itself, but it did not have the necessary mana to repair the barrier. The planet wanted to reject me, but the barrier was damaged and it's dangerous to leave it damaged. It made me sign a core contract to be able to stay. The contract stated that I could not kill or harm any of its inhabitants. I also need to provide enough mana to repair the barrier. It noticed that my core was damaged, and it added that I am not allowed to absorb any of the mana here."
"Although my core is damaged and I am running low on mana, there is no point in trying to absorb any of the mana here. Trying to absorb mana from a planet like this, that just acquired mana, is like trying to quench a parched man by giving him one droplet of water at a time. It would take a long ass time. This planet does not have enough mana to fill even half of my core and even if I absorbed all of the mana from this planet. What you are seeing right now is a projection made by my core of my human form."
"Core contract? Human form?" Mumbled Havok as his eyes widened in shock as he closely examined the man's appearance and spotted some slight differences from humans.
The man waved his hand dismissing Havok's questions, "Bah, I will tell you about those later. I have spoken enough, it's time for you to start training. You said you wanted clothes, right?" The man tossed over the carcass of a dead animal at Havok's feet.
