Chapter 5 - Should've Mind Your Business

"Your lie is so outdated, Jasmine. Although you're a lawyer, you still don't know how to lie. That's why I said you're inexperienced. You should go learn how to lie more," Caden said, smirking at her and making her pissed.

"I'm not lying you brute, and you guys should learn to mind your business," Jasmine said. Pointing a finger at him.

"For someone who fell asleep from drinking just two glasses of wine, you have quite a sharp tongue. I wonder where all the confidence ran to yesterday," Caden said, looking at her from up to down.

"Impossible," she denied.

"What?"

"It is impossible for me to fall asleep after drinking just two glasses of alcohol, which is less than a bottle. If I drink eight bottles, I won't even get tipsy, much more, fall asleep. I'm not like Jay and Shawn, who went down with just three bottles of alcohol. It's a capital Letter, IMPOSSIBLE,"she stressed and once again they burst into laughter. Jasmine stared at them coldly as they laugh, wishing she could swipe that laugh off their faces and replace it with anger like she was feeling now.

She suddenly felt oppressed. This is unfair. They were three and she was the only one. Three against one. She must strive to survive this and emerge as the winner. Jay had already slide down from the couch to the tiled floor, due to the impact of his laughter.

Shawn has his head thrown backwards and his mouth open and Caden only chuckled without laughing so hard, but that made her angry the more. Shawn and Jay laughed for a long time and after the latter has subsided, Shawn said,

"Oh wait, you haven't told her, Caden?"

"She wasn't so curious, so I let it be for some other time," Caden answered.

"What didn't he tell me," Jasmine asked, glaring daggers at them. Why was she standing here and letting them laugh at her? She wanted answers and must get them now.

"You're curious," Caden said

"Yes I am."

"But you know curiosity kills the cat," he added.

"I'm not scared of death."

"Ok, ok, ladies and gentlemen, since I am the best storyteller here, I'll tell you everything that happened last night and how you ruined my birthday night," Shawn volunteered.

Jasmine leg was aching from standing for so long, so she sat on the couch far opposite them.

Shawn started unraveling the details of the other night at the club, starting from when she was talking to the blonde hair guy, then when Caden saw someone laced the drinks given to her, and how she fell unconscious, after drinking them. He narrated everything smoothly, except the part where Caden had punished the blonde brutally. He was really a great storyteller like he said he was.

"That's how you ruined my birthday night and stopped me from having fun," Shawn concluded, and Jasmine blinked. She didn't want to believe what he just said, but it didn't sound like a lie or a constructed story. She was really so stupid, like they said. How could she randomly drink wine from a club she knew was not safe and a club she hasn't visited before. Although she had seen Candy pointing at her, it still doesn't justify anything.

In the other clubs she always went to, the security was tight, and these things were prohibited. Anyone found lacing a ladies drink, would be arrested, and so she thought was the same with last nightclub, but she had mistaken.

"You always cause trouble wherever you go. You ruined Shawn's birthday night, and you stopped us from having fun with the beauties. You should be grateful," Jay complained.

"I never ask you guys for help. You should have mind your business and have fun with those tiny beauties," Jasmine said, and Jay and Shawn's mouth fell open in disbelief. They thought she would at least thank them, but who thought her ungratefulness was to this extent.

"You see, Caden, I told you yesterday that we shouldn't help her. See, she's not grateful at ll. You saved her yesterday and even brought her to your mansion, yet she couldn't say a single thank you," Shawn said, frowning at Caden.

"Well, the last time I appreciated someone, I didn't know I was being pitied," She scoffed, staring at Caden. Yes, she was grateful they helped her, but she wasn't going to say a single thank you, so history would not repeat itself.

Caden only chuckled. He knew this was undoubtedly what she was going to say, and he didn't expect an appreciation from her just like Shawn did. He stared at Shawn and saw he was on the verge of snapping at her, but he stopped himself. Of course Shawn would be angry, after all, she ruined his birthday which he has been anticipating for months.

"Ahh, Caden, you shouldn't have brought this girl here. You should have let the whole club have their way with her. At least, her mouth wouldn't be running," Shawn reprimanded, gritting his teeth in anger. He was so angry that Caden was smiling. Jasmine has been insulting them and hurting their ego ever since they met her, but what was more shocking was that Caden is doing nothing to stop her. If it were up to him, he would have thrown her into the forest, for the wild animals to feast on. That was exactly what they did to most of their offenders but he wondered why Caden won't do the same to her.

"Yes Caden, you shouldn't have brought her here, and why the hell are you not saying anything. She has insulted us so much," Jay added.

"She's just a girl, we shouldn't go too hard on her," Caden replied, and their mouth dropped. This was Caden who isn't concerned about gender or weakness. As long as you offended him, you're going down. But here, he was saying she's just a lady, when she has insulted him like no one did before.
