Just then, all hell broke loose. War cries could be heard all around us.
"SHIELD WALL FORMATION!! MAINTAIN THE FORMATION, DO NOT BREAK EXCEPT ON MY COMMAND!!"
I hollered and tried my best to think up a plan for the next course of action.
The soldiers weren't trembling neither were they afraid, I guess they were confident in the metal armor we were all wearing, but if there's one thing I know, its that it doesn't matter the kind of weapon you use, nor the kind of armor you wear, because when it comes to war, even the smallest object could kill a well trained soldier.
Half naked barbaric looking men rushed out from all corners of the surrounding wielding axes, pickaxes, swords, maces, steel hammers. That's when he came; 9.7ft tall, dressed in a dusty kilt and chest cross belt, eyes emitting crazy killing intents and burly muscles ready to crush the bones of anyone who defiled him, holding a large bloodied stone hammer, his aura was stronger and more deadly than that of the Cyclops and he was just striding over towards us like a King.
"Hear me oh ye swine of Rome, behold the mightiness of Ajax, crusher of men and destroyer of Empires. Rejoice, for on this day, thou shall fall by the hands of Ajax of Germania!" He said calmly as he walked over to us.
"HOLD FORMATION MEN, FEAR NOT!!" I tried to encourage my men but I knew the sight of this giant had driven off their courage and will to battle.
"LISTEN TO ME SONS OF ROME, YOU WERE CHOSEN TO BE THE ELITE OF THE ELITE, YOU ARE THE BEST OF ROME, AND YOU SHALL NOT COWER AT THE WORDS OF AN UNTRAINED SAVAGE, FOR WE DO NOT FEAR HADES NOR HIS SON HERAKLIS, ON THIS DAY LET THE SAXONS WITNESS THE MIGHT OF THE BLACK DRAGON SQUADRON, ON THIS DAY LET THEM COWER BEFORE ROME!, NOW LETS TURN THIS SAVAGES INTO BUTTERED FLESH FOR THE BIRDS AND DOGS TO FEED ON!!!" I screamed at the top of my voice which truly worked as the soldiers broke formation and charged towards the barbarians, forsaking all rules of engagement.
I decided to face off Ajax as he kept picking off my men one after the other.
"AJAX, YOU WILL BATTLE ME, MAXIMUS AUGUSTUS AURELIUS, SON OF MARCUS AUGUSTUS AURELIUS, CAESAR OF ROME!" I knocked my sword on my shield to get his attention.
"A dog comes to battle against a Nephilim? Thou art brave, or is it foolishness? Stand still and I shall bestow unto thee a quick and painless death." He said and charged over.
The earth trembled with every step he took. I tried to dive out of the way but then I felt a hand grab my ankle and flung me to the ground, I felt like I've been stampede on by a thousand horses. I tried to stand but couldn't. He walked towards me, then kicked my belly, I flew off about 3ft from where I was. I took off my helmet and vomited a mouthful of blood, I felt so dizzy and I could've sworn I saw my Mother standing before me. Then it hit me: I couldn't die here, no, I must survive if I want to see my parents again, I mustn't give up and I didn't plan to.
I stood up and managed to get a hold of myself, I could feel my head pounding as if my brain wishes to be free from the skull. I wiped the blood from my lips with the back of my hand and closed my eyes to concentrate, I could feel my inner demon seeking to devour the Nephilim, I focused on that anger, opened my eyes and then looked at Ajax straight in the eye, and for some reason, he flinched, he didn't just flinched, he took two steps back.
I was no longer myself, I felt my breathing become heavier and I could smell everything around me; the blood, the death, the misery, the anger and the fear.
I dropped my sword and got my daggers tied around my waist.
I snarled at Ajax as a predator does to a prey, then I dashed off towards him. I could feel the air around me and I fed off from the pain and death around me, I felt ten times stronger.
I looked towards Ajax, he was stone fixed petrified and then I leaped up when I got a few feet at him and I struck.
I landed on my feet and I felt no remorse nor pity as his head shifted and then fell to the ground, his body fell on its knees and I knew he was dead.
I didn't know why but I just wanted to kill and keep on killing. I dashed off to the hordes of Saxons with my daggers.
"AHHH!"
*GURGLES*
"UH"
Deathly cries were heard in every corner of the battle ground. I was cruising at superhuman speed and killing off the Saxons till there was none left.
I came to an abrupt stop when I saw the Saxons were all lying dead, guttered up and dismembered.
I steadied my breathing and felt myself return to normal. I didn't know what made me do all those things but I knew word of what just happened couldn't get to the Caesar. I turned to face my soldiers.
"You are never to breathe a word about what you all saw today."
"YES MY LORD!" They replied in unison, albeit confused, but no more confused than I was.
