"I'm just so glad those two are gone from my basement! Btw your transporters friends are super deceiving! If you didn't tell me, I wouldn't guess it on my own that they're criminals!" Ha-yoon said with a sigh of relief.
But Soo-Min wasn't really paying attention to her, Soo-Min was staring at her phone that has just started ringing with Jin's name was plastered on the screen.
Normally she would've picked-up the phone right away and answered, but she sensed something weird.
Almost as if she knew that Jin wasn't calling her for a friendly chitchat, he never really does to be fair.
Most of the time, Jin would call his sister, her daughter, but he rarely ever calls Soo-Min herself, unless it was something serious.
Popping from behind Soo-Min, "Unnie, Is everything alright? Your phone is ringing but you're just staring at it." Ha-yoon asked the dazed woman.
"Oh?!" Snapped back to reality, "I guess I just zoned out..." Soo-Min replied before picking her phone, but just as she was about to answer the call, she received a message from none other than her ex-husband, Seong-min's father, 'Nam-gil'.
'Soo-min, I'm outside the house you told me about, can you come out to talk? Btw he's with me.'
"Uhh...Ha-yoon, is there someone outside?" Soo-Min asked, "Hmm? Why? Another friend of yours is coming?" Ha-yoon replied with her own question.
"Technically, yeah!...Nam-gil is here, my ex-hubby I mean...earlier I forgot to tell you but he texted me asking for your house address, he's made it here now, with his bodyguard." Soo-Min said with a weird expression on her face.
Surprised, "Oh shit! That's right! He told Seong-min he was coming!...wait you mean like he's here, outside? Like right now?! also if I remember correctly, isn't he dating that bodyguard?" Ha-yoon asked.
Nodding, "Yes and yes... I should go outside and talk to him, he doesn't go inside strangers houses, unless he absolutely has to so he's waiting outside, he's probably gonna talk to me a little and then go find a hotel nearby." Soo-Min explained.
"I'm coming outside with you!" Ha-yoon stated, "Uhh I don't know if that's a good idea?" Soo-Min questioned.
Confused, "Why? What's wrong with me being out there with you?" Ha-yoon asked.
Carefully, "Nam-gil...he's not a people's person, and you're not either, you might spook him." Soo-Min said.
"I feel like I should be offended by that, even though it's true...is it my looks?! Does he find tattoos and piercings intimidating? I mean is he like a typical old judgmental Korean middle aged man?" Ha-yoon asked.
"No not that...ugh you know what, just come along, but don't say anything beyond introducing yourself, and don't try to touch him or anything." Soo-Min said
"Cool! Btw does not saying anything means I can't like invite him and his bodyguard I mean boyfriend inside?" Ha-yoon asked.
Skeptical, "If you want to invite them, it's your choice although I don't recommend it." Soo-Min replied.
"Okay, noted." Ha-yoon said and then started walking towards her front door, with Soo-Min behind her, both women put their shoes and headed outside where a dark vehicle was waiting for them nearby.
As the women approached the car, two Korean men came out of the vehicle, one was average height yet well built middle aged man, dressed in neat business clothes with short dark hair.
While the other man was an athletic looking much younger man in his 30s, with dyed chin-length blonde hair and wearing a plain white t-shirt with tight black leather pants and sneakers, the younger guy was smiling as he spotted Soo-Min.
The two guys began approaching the two girls while the girls approached them, but for some reason the younger guy stopped smiling when he was finally able to see Ha-yoon's face clearly.
"Nam-gil!" Soo-Min said with a smile.
"Soo-Min." The older gentleman replied, "How are you?" She asked, "I'm good, and you?" He replied.
Ha-yoon stood silently, eagerly waiting for an opportunity to introduce herself, she wasn't sure why she wanted to introduce herself to Nam-gil, but her eagerness started to turn into anxiety as the younger guy who's clearly the bodyguard/boyfriend of Nam-gil, was now glaring at her with surprise in his eyes.
"I'm good too, oh btw Ha-yoon this is my ex-husband Nam-gil!" Soo-Min said pointing at Nam-gil so Ha-yoon bowed her head towards the man.
Taking a deep breath and in a monotone almost emotionless voice, "Ha-yoon, Your name sounds familiar...You're that girl who helped my daughter two years ago, right? I regret not meeting back then, I lost an opportunity to thank you." Nam-gil said surprising Ha-yoon.
Ha-yoon nervously chuckled, "Heh...It's okay, I did what anyone responsible would do." She replied.
"Still, thank you." Nam-gil said before properly bowing to her.
Embarrassed, "Stop! It's okay! You're welcome." Ha-yoon said.
Laughing, "Haha! Wow! I thought you'd definitely do something like this! Nam-Nam!" Soo-Min spoke-up, "Is this why you didn't want me to meet him?" Ha-yoon whispered.
Noticing that the bodyguard was glaring at Ha-yoon, "More or less... anyways! How rude of me, well, this young man next to my ex-husband is the bodyguard/boyfriend I told you about and his name is-! " Soo-Min spoke but Nam-gil cut her off as he stopped bowing, "You told her about us?... Soo-Min!" He said sounding a little bit nervous.
"Don't worry! Ha-yoon is a friend also your daughter was actually the one who told her." Soo-Min replied.
Embarrassed, "I'm sorry, Seong-min just tell me anything even when I don't want to hear it." Ha-yoon said to Nam-gil who eyed her then eyed his boyfriend standing next to him, he was beginning to notice his boyfriend's hostile stares towards Ha-yoon.
Ha-yoon at this point was annoyed that the bodyguard/boyfriend was glaring at her, for some reason she felt like she did something that offended him but couldn't exactly tell what, since the man was glaring without saying a word.
"Hey dude! You look around my age! What's your name?" Ha-yoon asked the boyfriend.
Suddenly realizing something, "Wait, Your full name...is it kim Ha-yoon?" Nam-gil questioned while giving a certain look to Soo-Min whose face instantly paled as she probably realized the same thing as her ex-husband.
Confused, "Yeah?" Ha-yoon replied.
Suddenly, "How dare you." The bodyguard/boyfriend finally spoke-up.
"Excuse me?" Ha-yoon said, "How dare you not remember who I am, you traitor." The bodyguard replied.
Shocked, Ha-yoon took a second to scan the man in front of her, deeply with her eyes.
"We even have the same taste, it's kinda disgusting how similar we are." The guy said making Ha-yoon's eyes widen as she finally realized how familiar this guy is to her.
"Ha-joon, is that you?!" She said in utter shock, "Glad you remember your younger brother, Miss Kim Ha-yoon." Ha-joon the bodyguard/boyfriend replied.
At the same time this was unfolding, Seong-min alongside Cyrus have just made it to the neighborhood, and they immediately noticed Soo-Min and Ha-yoon with the two men.
"Looks like my dad and his boyfriend are here!" Seong-min exclaimed, "Oh that's him!" Cyrus said curious, but then as they approached the group of people, Cyrus realized that Ha-yoon wasn't looking so okay, she seemed terrified as she took one step back from the others.
"Something is wrong!" He said, "Yeah, I can tell!" Seong-min replied and the two hurried their steps.
"Ha-joon, I'm really surprised... you've changed! You're all grown-up!" Ha-yoon said trying to sound braver than her expression.
"Hey you two! How about we go inside and talk!" Soo-Min said trying to defuse the situation.
"Ha-joon, dear, do you want us to leave?" Nam-gil asked making Soo-Min glance at him while she whispered angrily, "Hey! We should help them talk!"
Ha-joon heard her and replied, "Thanks Soo-Min Noona but I don't want your help, I don't plan on talking more with this traitor. "
"Ha-joon stop! I had no choice, I couldn't stay one more minute in that house and you know that! I couldn't even wait until I was 19!
I left a year before I became officially an adult! And I lived basically as a runaway during that year!
And yet I lived better that year than all the years I spent living in that house with those two monsters calling themselves our parents?!" Ha-yoon finally broke down.
"Right! And while you lived happily! I was suffering alone! Because you left me behind, those monsters made my life a hell!
They became too strict after you left, I was lucky they didn't discover I was gay until I left them!" Ha-joon replied.
"Why are you angry at me! You yourself chickened out from running away!" Ha-yoon said, "I was 16 and you were 18! Of course I chickened out! They could've called the cops to find us!
If you just waited 3 years for me to be legally independent! We could've went somewhere! You and me! And started over!" Ha-joon replied.
"Are you fuckin with me?! 3 years more I would've killed myself! Besides if I didn't leave that night, they were gonna hurt me!
I Heard Father say he'd rather have a dead daughter than a gay daughter!
You were lucky they didn't know you were gay too back when they discovered me!" Ha-yoon said, "And FYI! I don't regret leaving our family home when I did!" She added.
"But You were my best friend! You vowed to protect me as my older sister! Are you saying you don't regret leaving me behind?!" Ha-joon asked with tears in his eyes.
"You two please!" Soo-Min said pleading but she then saw Seong-min and Cyrus standing close by, looking at them with dumbfounded faces.
"Older sister?!" Seong-min mumbled, "Wait your dad's boyfriend is Ha-yoon's younger brother?!" Cyrus asked confused.
Seeing his daughter, "Seong-min!" Nam-gil glanced at her, "What are we gonna do?!" Cyrus asked Seong-min.
"I don't wanna interfere but I hate to see Ha-yoon hurt like this." Seong-min replied, "God even their names and styles are similar?! How did I not realize the connection sooner!" She added with frustration.
"Ha-joon, I'm sorry if my actions hurt you, but at that moment I needed to survive, don't you think it's selfish of you to blame me for wanting to survive our parents abuse?!" Ha-yoon said.
"But you promised me! And You lied! you said you won't abandoned me, that we'll get out and live together away from father and mother but then one day you ran away without a goodbye! You didn't even tell me!" Ha-joon replied crying.
"Because you would've snitched! You were still controlled by those monsters!
I managed to escape them by sheer luck if it wasn't for the person who helped me leave the country!
Also why are you fuckin angry at me now! Huh?! For God sake You're dressed well, you look healthy and dating someone you love, Aren't you happy hyung?!" Ha-yoon asked.
Scoffing, "Not thanks to you! Noona!" Ha-joon replied.
Suddenly, a familiar car parked nearby, it was Nikolai's ride driven by Jin.
In a matter of seconds, both Nikolai and Jin came out of the car, and Seong-min watched her brother approached them and the arguing siblings.
With a frown, "What the hell is happening?!" Jin asked, Cyrus wasn't surprised to see Jin, he got intrigued when he saw Jin's face go pale at the sight of Nam-gil.
"Jin?" Nam-gil uttered in disbelief as he looked at Jin, it's been 7 years since the man saw his son, and Jin has changed a lot.
"Uh, what's happening?" Nikolai asked, "Our father is here." Seong-min whispered making Nikolai gasp as he knew what that meant.
With Jin's arrival, Ha-joon and Ha-yoon calmed down a little, they both stopped talking, though they still glared at each other for a second afterwards, then turned to look at Jin and Nam-gil as they faced each other.
"Jin!" Nam-gil said again.
Frowning, "Hello mister Young." Jin replied coldly while glaring at his father.
