"There's something outside." I told the others before opening the door and getting a face full of hail that soaked my coat. I slid between the forming snow and like a snowfox I crept closer.
Nothing moved but the wind, chucking leaves around. I decided to leave as the cold was becoming severe.
"I see nothing." I said, coming in and shaking myself, ridding most of the water to the floor much to Gunther's hate.
"Get some sleep," dismissing my antics and going back to lying down on the floor with nothing but a blanket. I had a peaceful sleep on the cold floorboards.
The freezing temperature of the night had barely risen with the sun bright in the sky. Gunther stood at the door, ready for a big day of walking.
The cold made my motivation sink, these big changes of climates did not do me any good. We found the path again and traveled on. The walk was boring and frustrating, frequent small talk started and died.
"Where is our destination?" I finally asked after a bit of procrastination on if I wanted to know or not.
"There's a relief village on the border of the forest for the army." Gunther responded.
I couldn't understand war. I saw guards playing a card game once about war. They played until one side was practically destroyed. You could already tell at the start of these games who will most likely win, but they still go on. Strategy and thinking they claim makes tides change.
"Why do they fight?"
"They don't want to fall under another kingdom's control, it's their land and they'll fight for it." He replied, tired and breathless. "Let's stop here."
The day had already passed and the hunger was getting to me. He set up a small camp for himself while I ventured into the forest. With our loud, careless walking we were unable to see any life, but under the tickets I was bound to get a tasty snack.
I padded lightly on the thin snow layer, following the little prints that dotted their way to an unlucky rabbit. Unlucky enough to not know about it's upcoming end until I purposefully crushed the snow underneath me.
It sprang off for it's life, a good run it made. I had caught up nearly too soon.
Until-
"Stop!!!"
