Chapter 17 - Sharp pointy teeth.

I left her to go out back to find food. A barely eaten moose and an entire bear laid dead to rot under a swaying roof, ready to fall and cover the bodies. Two bite marks visible on their neck provided the evidence of what killed them.

The quiet of the air as I chewed was disturbing, my stomach turning with unease. I figured I should pay the rabbit back somehow.

I watched from the doorway, the saddened sight of loss.

"What are you going to do now?"

The anger that emanated was understandable.

"The group I'm traveling with probably wouldn't mind a rabbit like you." Silence was enough of an answer. "Come if you wish."

I wasn't going to bother much with such a small and unreliable thing. It was best that I took my leave and went back to camp. I settled down by his sleeping bag, dozing off eyeing the flickers of the fire.

"Get up you lazy cat," a pesky voice cooed from above. I grinned just imagining batting Roy out of the air.

Acknowledging his antics he replied, "You're too slow to get me."

He flew off ahead while we made our way along the final stretch towards the village. His overhead guiding helped as the village was made to hide its location.

The walls served as basic boundaries which wouldn't hold an army back. Wooden cabins in rows to max out space.

A presence had been obnoxiously hiding in the trees for awhile now. A few barely noticeable stomps on the snow flicked my ears. Cocky hunter. In a dash I circled around, bounding off the tree bark, whipping past to latch my stalker.

Action now, words later didn't work too well with a shocked anxious rabbit.

I did get a my face nearly chewed off as I fell into Deava but we sorted it out with a bit of negotiating and she agreed to come with me. A useful killer. Something that we'll be in need of soon.

I could nearly smell death on the horizon.
