"Take your seat! I don't want to waste any more time on you," Junwei remarked and extended his hand out when Wang Zexi handed him the file.
Sophie quickly took her seat. 'He saw me signing the autographs for his employees. But why didn't he scold me? I thought he would explode,' she thought and looked at his face.
Junwei told them about the work schedule. "I have decided to begin work in two days. I don't want Miss Lin to trouble my employees during their work hours," he said while looking at the documents inside the file.
Ciao Hong glanced at Sophie and wondered if she has again done something wrong.
"Is the car model ready? You said that it would take two weeks," Sophie stated.
"I didn't know you would go against my office policies on the very first day of your work here," Junwei remarked. They dropped honorifics for each other, and their series of arguments began.
"I didn't trouble anyone. You should not accuse me," Sophie said. Ciao Hong told her to calm down, but she didn't stop.
"Why did some of my employees surround you on the 4th floor? You even met my gaze and pretended as if you didn't notice me. I strictly told you to adhere to the company rules. You will be responsible if I fire them." Junwei's domineering voice intimidated all of them.
Ciao Hong pushed the chair back and apologized to Junwei for Sophie's mistakes.
"I am not here sitting to hear anyone's apology," Junwei said and tossed the file on the table.
"Junwei, why are you getting angry at my manager? You are making an issue," Sophie defended Ciao Hong, who urged her not to speak.
"You have no right to speak when you made a mistake. I strictly told you not to disturb my employees during their work time. You were supposed to sit here and wait for me to come, yet you went out to have fun. Your reputation is already ruined, so better behave this time if you do not want to completely leave this industry," Junwei stated. Some of his words were harsh and they hurt Sophie.
"Sir, please calm down," Wang Zexi said.
Sophie's eyes filled with tears and she stood up in anger. "I will not work with you," she said and walked ahead. Ciao Hong ran after her to stop her, but she did not listen to him.
Sophie had opened the glass door when she heard Junwei say, "You cannot step back from this anymore. Pay me a hundred million dollars according to the contract we signed."
Sophie tightened her fists and turned around. She wanted to throw many punches at Junwei's face, but she controlled her anger. Junwei stood up from her seat and turned to face her. He walked up to her and slid his hands into his pocket.
"It is your first day working for me and you have already decided to leave the job!" He arched his eyebrow and leaned down to whisper in her ear, "The nation's superstar cannot stand working with me. Was this the spirit you talked with me about a few days ago?" He gazed into her eyes and smirked before walking out of the office.
That was the most unexpected reaction Wang Zexi observed in Junwei.
Sophie also left after Junwei while Ciao Hong ran after her followed by the others.
"Junwei!" Sophie shouted his name, who stopped and turned at her.
He furrowed his brows together when she ran in his direction. But in the middle, her heel broke. She screamed in panic as she lost her balance and stumbled forward.
Junwei sprang into action and caught her by the arm before Sophie would hit the ground. Their gazes met and a warm feeling spread across her chest. She blinked and all of her anger vanished.
Junwei felt strange and instead of helping her stand up, he pulled his hand back and Sophie fell to the floor. She was stunned at his action and so were the others.
"Do not shout at my office. I will lock you in the room if you do," Junwei said and walked away from her sight.
Sophie chuckled when Ciao Hong helped her stand up. "Miss Lin, are you alright?" Wang Zexi asked, his tone filled with concern.
"Did you see Secretary Wang? He threw me to the floor! Who does it? What if I have injured my back or my leg?" She was annoyed. Ciao Hong and others told her to calm down.
They took her back to the boardroom. Wang Zexi handed her a glass of water when his phone rang. He saw Junwei's name flashing on the screen and excused himself. When he reached the office room where Junwei was present, he complained to Junwei about his wrong behavior toward Sophie.
"Did you come here to preach about her?" He did not like Wang Zexi's behavior.
"Be a gentleman, Sir. What if Miss Lin has gotten hurt? You would have been blamed then." Wang Zexi for the first time scolded Junwei. Being his elder and being a close person to Junwei, he knew he could do that.
"If I had not caught her, then it would have been more problematic. She is a thick-skinned woman," Junwei muttered and asked him to look into Sophie's work which would start after two days.
"Shouldn't it be you, Sir?" Wang Zexi asked.
"I will come to check the final work. I do not want to be around her," Junwei asserted and leaned back on the swivel chair. He reminisced about the moment when his eyes landed on her and he felt weird. He shook off his head and told himself not to think much.
