Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

[E-Ehhhhh you succeeded in transforming into a male angel?]

Hanni was as stunned by me succeeding as I was at the feeling warmth I felt.

[That should be illegal. In both worlds and in the history of creation I have never see a person acquire divinity that way. Blasphemy, absolute blasphemy. Mother why did you accept that so easily!?]

A rock fell on Haniel's head with the words "Silence" carved onto it.

[Mother just why? Divinity is not something you can bestow onto anyone. You know how long angels work for just a tiny bit of it. This is just not fair!!!]

Another stone fell onto Haniels head without words this time.

[...….I- I understand mother.]

When I felt what the goddess of creation did to me, I was even more perplexed and shocked than Haniel. The spark of divinity I received from the goddess was not bound to my avatar but my original Soul.

Blasphemy. Haniel was right. Absolute blasphemy were the right words for it.

Wasn't I de facto betraying the gods of my home world?

I was worried about spilling some secret and be punished hard for it.

Now It was betrayal.

I have not read the bible in its entirety, but betrayal was never accepted.

How can I save this? Wait, my character creation is not finished. Everything I do influences it.

"I just want to go back to my soul form. Being a soul is easy. Angel is hard."

[[Accepted. Finalizing Contract.]]

Haniel and me looked into the sky. That voice did not come from Haniel.

"Are you actually kidding me?"

As the scenery around me started to change, the last words I heard were [MOTHER WHAT THE ACTUA--].

Haniel didn't seem happy about that development. And me neither. I did not even get the chance to say goodbye. And I thought I got my first friend here.

Opening my eyes, I found myself on a field. My snout touching some flowers that tickled a little bit.

"Auuuu?" (Wait Snout?)

I quickly looked around me. I was at the foot of a huge mountain on a grassy field.

Sharpening my ears I could hear a stream of water.

Did that goddess take my answer that seriously?

"Auauau" (What a day…)

[Contract Established. Welcome to my world young Alexander.]

"Wau?" (Wait what?)

When did I say my real name?

[I am the goddess of creation young one. To see the names of souls and their past is something all gods can do. Although, to see everything about my apostles is something that only I am allowed to.]

[I will not read your mind as I have better things to take care of, but I always know your general location and if I want to, I can even talk to you like right now.]

As if my day was not crazy enough so far, this was the cherry on top.

[Loyalty will not come on its own. Even my angels have to train for years before they become completely loyal to me. I do not expect much from you. Just do good things and keep maybe even put some of your people in check if it is needed.

See yourself more like a moderator if you want to. I will give you a few goodies for it, but you first have to be a good boy to get some rewards.]

I just stood there motionless. I completely understood what the goddess wanted from me. That still did not make it any better for me or my current situation.

What should I do. I wanted to have fun in this world. Now I just have more responsibilities.

Even If I want to influence the players right now, as a wolf that won't be easy. They will just hunt me down.

"Auuuuuuu…" (What can I even do with these fluffy paws of mine?...)

[And before I leave you I must tell you something. I took the liberty to choose your race so to say sorry, you can currently change between your seraphim and your highland wolf form.

You are a soul, remember that. Those two are not your limit.]

[PS: Chant "Status" in your heart for more information. To contact me in the future you just have to pray.]

And with that the goddess left.

After laying in the grass for a good while I got the motivation to stand up.

Today was a weird day. I just wanted to play this game stress free.

When did it turn out so bad?

I don't want to work ~~~

"Au" ("Status")

[

Name: Alexander

Race: Soulwalker

Titles: Apostle from God, Ethereal One, Divine One

Affinities: Soul, Holy

Abilities: Change at will, Ethereal Form

]

I can change back whenever I want?

You don't have to tell me that twice.

With just a thought I changed to my seraphim form and stood back up.

I must say that that is quite convenient.

Playing around a bit with my wings I wondered for a while.

"How do I even fly?"

Before I had the chance to try flying for myself Haniel got stoned twice by mother.

"Oh god even I start to call her mother"

If she can be as imposing as my own mother I will have a rough time handling her.

I could never go against my own mother. If she wanted to play a new game, I had to play with her.

No buts, no ifs.

I wonder if the goddess of creation sees all of this as just a game.

What a scary thought.

"Here goes nothing."

With that I jumped into the air with my fist reaching into the sky.

A longing for the sky. To fly as freely as birds. That was something that many humans craved.

Through the assistance of planes we were close to the feeling of flying.

But now that I was hovering midair, I already felt the difference.

There was no passenger seat. No belt.

Only the air on my wings and me.

Flying was nothing special for birds or races with wings.

I mean how could you long for something that you already had at birth.

Slowly but steadily I got the hang out of flying.

Soaring just a few meters above ground already calmed me down.

To let my mind sway after these stressful encounters worked wonders on my body.

I felt light. The wings literally took the weight off my back.

Even though I had to work a little bit.

It couldn't be too hard right?

I was always rather natural good in my behavior.

Just punishing evil people shouldn't be so hard.

"Hey mother. Which way should I go now?"

But sadly now answer came through the system.

Does that mean I have to decide?

Man, why couldn't I spawn in a city.

Mindlessly killing beasts until I get strong is not my style.

I quest for the story in most games.

There should be at least one city in my vicinity.

This mountain range is just to good to not build a city around.

Its rich in vegetation and a few string beasts should also roam around.

Lets do some scouting.

And with that done I flew up as high as I could.

High above the clouds I came to a stop.

My wings began lightly freezing.

This height should not be my max height, but for now it must suffice.

Looking down I could not believe my eyes.

I have flown a good amount of times with planes in the other world but I could never see so far.

This being due to the curvature of the earth.

You can only look so far until you see the horizon.

But here the horizon was much further away than I was expecting.

The earth is relatively small in comparison to other planets.

But mother, this was a little bit extreme.

This world was at least a bit over ten times bigger than earth.

How should normal people travel across continents?

With this much continental mass, how much have humans conquered and how much was controlled entirely by beasts?

Now I know why my father called humans a trash race.

In comparison to other races they may be the allrounder race, but are outclassed by many races when it comes to territory or might.

Still, my goal has not changed and I looked over the land to find a city.

And quite a few I found without looking too hard for them.

Most of the cities that I found were built on large open planes.

From high above one could see quite a few interesting things.

I knew for example where the ocean was and knew the location of a desert.

Picking a near city from the bunch that I could choose was harder than expected.

Had it only been a few cities the choice wouldn't be so hard.

A few cities fulfilled my criteria for a starting city.

In the end I just chose the closest city that fit for me and started flying towards it.

How would I enter? The front gate should be obvious, but I have no money or identification.

My wings should also be in the way.

I want to look like a human.

The next thing came unexpected but also totally expected.

I fell out of the sky.

Wanting to look like a human hid my wings in my back.

I fell. And at a fast pace at that because of the momentum I had.

"Wings!!! Fast!!!"

My wings sprouted out of my back at that command, and I resumed flying.

I was never close to the ground, but the sudden fall got my adrenalin pumping.

What if my wings didn't come back?

Overthinking stuff really is my forte.

I like to have a plan but that bites me in the back sometimes.

Like today when my overthinking and planning made me an angel….

With only a few remaining kilometers to the city I landed safely in a forest and made my way to the main road.

The walk towards the city wen well without any incidents.

I saw a few cute looking animals on the way but nothing out of the ordinary.

For the story that I would serve to the guards at the entrance I had a wonderful idea.

Why hide my wolf side. That was a part of me. There are some classes that fit me very well.

In the end I chose the druid because it was not unexpected of the to have a few animal forms.

Druids can attack and heal, even tank when having a tanky beast body.

For my purposes this was perfect.

No one would expect that my actual race would be Soulwalker.

Arriving in front of the two guards who crossed lances as I got closer, I introduced myself.

"Hello dear guards, I am Alexander the wandering druid. I am an upcoming adventurer"

I waited patiently for their response.

"Do you have any form of identification? Like your adventurer card." Said one of the guards.

"Eh, no"

"THEN HOW CAN WE CONFIRM THAT YOU DON'T MEAN EVIL TO THE CITY?" shouted the other guard.

"The only this I can do is to demonstrate my abilities to you or swear onto the goddess of creation that I don't mean evil?"

They both looked perplexed at each other as if they had seen such a dumb mistake being made.

"Do you have a death wish or are you simply stupid?" said the first, rather calm guard.

"To swear upon a god and breaking that oath will result in divine punishment. No sane man will swear upon a god lightly."

"We will let you in but that was for sure the dumbest way I have ever seen to get through a gate."

After opening the gate and directing me in the direction of the adventurer's guild and a few inns the guards resumed their work at the gate.

I had done it. I was finally in a city. Now that the hardest part was over, I chose to follow the road to an inn. I wanted to finally log out and process the trouble that awaited me in the other word.

With the tiny bit of starting money that were just a few silvers I rented a room and two daily meals for a week.

Finally being done felt great. I changed into my wolf form and snuggled into a ball on the bed before I severed the active connection with my avatar.

I don't know how it is for others. But for me logging out is a matter of willingly severing the thought of controlling my avatar and focusing on my real body again.
