Chapter 3 - CHAPTER TWO

VLADIMIR'S POV.

I looked up from the pile of papers on my desk when the door to my office opened and my beta, Henry walked in with a pile of paper in his hands. Without looking at the papers in his hands I already knew what they were. I wondered why people still manually sent emails couldn't they just use their phones?

"Henry go through the mails and only give me the useful ones, you know where the rest go". I said my eyes roaming the land papers in my hands. Another stupid alpha was trying to take one of my lands and I guessed he was yet to know who he was dealing with. I would gladly put him in his place.

"Well I already went through them and I saw this". He said. I expected him to go ahead and tell me what it was I didn't have the time to read whatever it was but he didn't.

"What does it say, Henry". I sighed looking up at him.

"It's an invitation to Alpha Philip's son Carlos's mating ceremony next tomorrow". He said dropping the invitation on my desk.

"Get rid of it. I don't have time to attend any mating ceremony". Just hearing about it made me remember mine. I shook the memory away and went back to the paperwork sitting on my desk.

"I understand that you don't want to go Vladimir but you have to. Alpha Philip is an ally you don't want to lose right now and considering that you hardly attend meetings with him it'll be best if you go for this ceremony it'll show him you still value the alliance with him and his pack". I knew Henry was right the Moon Child Pack was an ally I didn't want to lose right now I needed their trained warriors for when I go after the vampires for what they did to me when I make them suffer as I did. Just thinking about vampires left a bitter taste in my mouth and my wolf rose to the surface.

"Fine I'll go. Anything else I need to know". I said clenching my fist to gain back control of my wolf. I hated vampires with every fiber of my being and I couldn't wait for the day when I'll get my revenge on them for the death of my mate and my unborn child that was the only thing that had kept me moving forward in the months after her death it was what helped me push aside my grief and enabled me to build my pack into what it is today so I could avenge them.

The familiar ache I felt in my chest anytime I thought of my dead mate and child rose to consume me but I gained back control before it could suck me back into my grief which I had tried to get through for the past three years but I knew I could never get past the guilt I felt concerning her death it was going to be with me till I took my final breath that I was sure of.

"No nothing else. I'll go supervise the training with John". Henry said before leaving my office. He and John my gamma were doing a good job training my warriors.

I continued with my work when my door opened again and this time my sister Josephine came in sitting on the couch in my office. I expected her to say something but when she didn't, I looked up to find her staring intently at me.

"What," I asked her.

"Nothing". She said. I sighed and closed the file on my desk looking up at her, she liked it when I looked at her when she was talking, to her it shows that I'm listening.

"What do you want Jo". I said rubbing my temples, but before she could say anything, my eyes met the invitation card that Henry had left on my desk and I had an idea.

"Jo would like to escort me to a mating ceremony in Moon Child Pack next tomorrow". I asked her, I knew that if she comes with me then I would have an excuse to not talk to anyone since one of her favorite things to do was talk and meet new people, with her there I wouldn't have to talk to the alphas that I knew would be there trying to impress me at every chance they get so that I could become their ally. I knew I needed more allies for my upcoming battle but I wasn't desperate and some alphas are not just worthy to have an alliance with.

"Sorry Vlad I would love to go but I've already promised mum and dad that I would swing by their place they even wanted you to come along with me but seeing as you are going to be busy, I'll just have to go by myself". She said and I nodded. My parents do get lonely sometimes seeing as they didn't live in the pack house with me, they always try to get us to visit them more often. She stood up to go but stopped and turned back to me.

"Also, I wanted to inform you that Shawn and his mum are coming back to the pack. Dad told me". She said frowning. I clenched my fist to avoid breaking something. The thought of Shawn and his mother coming back was enough to bring my wolf to the surface again, but I had to remind myself that they were family and I had still not found evidence to prove that they were the traitors that had helped the vampires to enter the pack unnoticed which had led to Selena's death, but when I found the evidence I would forget the fact that we are family and that Shawn was once my best friend and show him what traitors deserved.

"When would they arrive". I said managing to calm my wolf down.

"Either this week or next. I wonder why they are coming back after three years away". Jo said.

"I don't know but for whatever reason, they decided to come back for I don't think it's good". I said and Jo nodded.

"Well I'll be leaving this evening and I'll be dropping Gracie at the other pack house on my way to mum and dad she has some things to attend to. I'll see you when I'm back". She said before leaving my office.

This time I was going to make sure I find evidence against Shawn and his mother and I wasn't going to have mercy on them family or not.
