Of course before arriving at the Ruins of a famous Battlesoul master, anybody would research about him.
Evan Hills was a member of one of the Great Houses, the Hills House. He was actually an average Battlesoul master, someone with a low General Grade Battlesoul, someone who would most likely never touch upon the Exalt Stage.
Yet he did. And splendidly so.
He had managed to forcefully evolve his Battlesoul into one that barely counted as a Marquis Grade Battlesoul. With this, he was able to advance into the Exalt Stage. And from then, he showcased his new talent, showcasing his strength.
The process of this was quite confusing but many guessed that maybe his Family had spent a large amount of resources on him, after all, it was a Great House.
But now Noah understood.
What evolution? What bullshit resources?! What genius?!
Evan Hills was a Devilsoul master!
Luke had spent a lot of time explaining this group of people to Noah. Devilsoul master were people who possessed attributes that allowed them to use living materials like human flesh or human souls to increase their strength. As long as they weren't killed, it was very easy for Devilsoul masters to increase all the way to the Demigod Stage even if they had the trashiest Common Grade Devilsoul.
Of course this had a lot of downsides. Firstly, their strength was a bit weaker than most at their level, they mostly fought with people weaker than them. This could only be countered by possessing a top quality Intent or Will but against someone who was at their level with a top quality Intent, they would still lose.
The second downside was that their foundation was frighteningly weak. Not much Devilsoul masters would ever reach the legendary Divine Stage. But then again, not much people could reach the Divine Stage.
The third and most devastating downside was the fragmentation of their mental state. The thoughts of a Devilsoul master were very fragile, leading to very powerful mood swings. They could be smiling one moment then massacre a country the next. Basically, they were crazy.
It would be great if that were all but it also led them into having lower battle conscience. Basically there wasn't much difference between Devilsoul masters and slightly smarter beasts.
Noah now understood why Evan's Intent could be something as crazy as Soul Damage. He glanced around and found out that both he and Alyssa possessed slightly translucent bodies, meaning that they were not here with their physical forms but instead as their souls.
The large soul that was Evan smiled as he looked at the two of them. "If you two choose to give up your bodies, it's easy for me to keep your souls and place you into other bodies. Although it would be weaker than your current ones, you wouldn't die."
Alyssa's face paled. Her expression revealed bitterness as she knew there was no way out for her, the person before her was several times more powerful and could kill her with a finger. Yet she also did not agree to his suggestion as that was basically placing her life in this Devilsoul master's hands, a fate worse than death.
Noah was also silent for a while before smiling lightly. "Sir Evan, you must be a powerful Devilsoul master right?"
Evan nodded with a smile, asking this question was almost the same as approving to his suggestion, making him very happy. The body of Noah could be described as the peak of the very peak of human potential. With a body like that, nobody would be able to resist his future might.
"You should be able to turn me into a Devilsoul master right?" Noah's question made both Alyssa and Evan shocked, but the latter was more ecstatic as he heard this. Because even if Noah changed bodies, he would still keep his comprehensive talents, making him a talented helper.
Alyssa, on the other hand, glared at her companion with hatred. "Noah, are you insane?!" Her reaction would be considered normal as Devilsoul masters were seen as the dark side of humanity because of their intense mental state. As someone taught at the academy, she knew of the sick and insane things they did making her loathe them even more than most common people.
Noah ignored her and kept on staring at the large soul figure of Evan. "As you know, I'm not part of any major Houses. If I go out with the kind of potential I have, people would either invite me to their organization or directly murder me. Even if I manage to settle down at the Soaring Star Academy, as a minor figure, the resources I would receive would be little to none." He sighed with emotion as he glanced at Alyssa. "I wouldn't be lying to say that those trash from major families can get better resources than you even if your talent surpasses them, right?"
She frowned and grew silent, struggle seen in her eyes. No retort came out of her lips as what he had said was true. Being a genius with no background could never get her as much resources as those with powerful backgrounds. Although Emperor Grade Battlesouls were rare, in a place like Soaring Star Academy there were still as much as 20.
"I am right then." He sighed once more facing her silence. "The advancement speed of the Devilsoul masters had always tempted me, I just haven't found a way to perform the transformation. So Sir Evan, would you be able to turn me into a Devilsoul master?"
"Your suggestion is truly feasible. After possessing your souls, I can promise to inject your soul into a body with a Marquis Grade Battlesoul." Evan appeared to think about it for a while before giving this answer.
"I would prefer a Battlesoul soul at the Duke Grade." Noah smiled as he spoke. Evan's brows twitched as he stared down, but the former still maintained his smile. "Sir Evan I truly can't bear to live with a Battlesoul any lower than that."
Evan remained quiet for a while before grunting. He glanced at Noah's soul body that was almost solid and nodded. "I can work something out."
But then Noah's smile only got wider, to the point it looked evil. "Indeed it's as I thought."
Evan was stunned while Alyssa revealed a confused look.
Noah's soul suddenly emitted a bright light as a Silver Dragon and a large sword bearing a mighty aura flashed into existence and fused with his body, transforming him into a silver colored humanoid Dragon reaching 10 meters in height with a large sword in his hand. "If I'm right, the Battlesoul masters that killed must not be idiots. They know that the only true way to completely kill a Devilsoul master is to obliterate his soul so as to prevent you from possessing another person. So I'm guessing that although you're alive, you could only manage to escape with a bit of your soul left. You probably don't have even 5% of your former soul power.
This is why you appeared all large and mighty so as to scare the both of us, the sun on the outside was probably you're doing so that our souls would be very weak by the time we got here."
Evan's eyes narrowed as a terrifying killing intent surfaced from his soul. "You're truly observant."
Noah laughed. "Actually I would have fallen for it because I'm not quite used to this world, but you sold yourself out with that act of yours." His grip on the sword tightened as he entered a battle stance. "Real experts don't bargain."
Evan revealed a murderous smile as a frightening aura was emitted from his body. "Haha, you're right. Real experts don't bargain. But you're also very foolish." Flames gathered on his body as his figure reduced to 15 meters. "I know that you're a reincarnated expert, who was somehow able to return from the path of the dead but that doesn't mean anything. You've lost your strength completely and can only rely on your soul strength but I still have my Intent! Even if it's only 5%, it's enough to kill you ten times over!"
Noah said nothing and simply grunted, Alyssa at this point had also moved into a battle stance. Their battle was about to begin!
