Everyone of them surrounded her, they felt pity for her. They tried to give comfort to her in their own ways. "Alvira, it's okay. Don't loose hope."
"Yeah, you only stood up for a friend, you did nothing wrong."
"Don't feel bad okay we are all here for you."
And so their words of encouragement kept coming. Alvira raised her head, staring at them all. No she wasn't crying at all.
Kathy was nowhere in sight, she smiled bitterly. Yeah she expected this, but she didn't know it will hurt this bad. It was what she chose to do by the way, so it was no one's fault but her's.
She looked up at the ceiling, she inhaled and heaved a sigh. She brought her head back down. "Thank you everyone." She gave them a beautiful smile that melted their hearts and walked away. But they knew how it hurts her inside. With such pain she still had the strength to pull of such beautiful smile.
They looked at her exiting back and she slowly disappeared from sight, she was heading back to her office.
Alvira needed no one to tell her to pack her things, atleast she wasn't leaving as a sacked staff, that was enough to bring her the minimalist joy of today.
Shutting the door, she leaned on it. She laughed hysterically. Her laughter was loud and it kept booming in the close space she engraved herself in. Her laughter slowly started to turn into cries, loud cries which were equivalent to the volume of her laughter. Again she got reminded about the fact that she came to this world unknowingly. That she has no parents...no family.....no home....that...that she just woke up one day and then she was breathing. All this depressing thoughts danced freely with no barrier in her mind.
She cried, dragging her lean body slowly from the door till she dropped on the ground. Yes she has so many insecurities and pain, so many tragical openings. Just because she don't let them out doesn't mean the aren't there. There are!
What actually made her this sad, wasn't because Kathy ran away after getting her ass safe. But because of the bitter words that were spout to her by the witch Lady Roose.
She took of the chain on her neck, She carefully held the pendant. It was a bit rusted and very old. But the gold in it was still obvious. She used her fingers to trace the carvings written on it. It boldly spelt the Word lvira, the first letter on it wasn't seen clearly. It looked like it was destroyed by something. She wasn't sure if it was an E on A. But when she was found, the pendant was used to name her. That was were her name Alvira was formed.
Remembering this, she cried more. her tears not stopping at all, she released all the restrained sorrow that she had held in for years now. She clutched hard at the pendant as she cried so much that her heart ache.
Suddenly the door was pushed open and Alvira didn't seem to be aware of it. Till she felt a palm on her shoulder. She raised her up.
Kayla bent down to her level. Alvira immediately hugged her tight like her life depended on it. "Shhhh, it's okay I'm here." Kayla rubbed her back in a soothing manner. Her own eyes had already started to get wet just looking at her friend weep so severely like that.
Kayla blinked the tears back in trying so hard not to cry too because if she does, who will comfort the other.
"Kay....I'm cursed....I...I..I really am." Alvira said breaking in between sobs.
"Don't say that. You aren't, I know you are not." Kayla said, her voice already getting weak.
Alvira harshly pulled out from Kayla. "How...how could you say that Kay?" She looked at her like she was looking at a fool. Her cries reduce to a look of melancholy.
"Your parents.... didn't they..." She paused to swallow a lump stuck in her throat. "Didn't they leave after they found me? huh? And you said it's not my fault? that I'm not cursed?." Alvira yelled shocking Kayla.
"Don't think like that Al." Kayla said, the Cry she was trying so hard to hold in, instantly broke her leash on it and poured out.
"Why shouldn't I? huh." Alvira was slowly looking like a maniac. Her expressions were so twisted that Kayla couldn't understand her anymore.
"Ivan....your brother, wasn't.....it when I arrive.... that... that you got the news that he was in an accident? huh.. And I shouldn't think that way?" She screamed.
"I'm cursed Kayla, I'M CURSED, DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?" The whole place was silent after her outburst. Only the harsh breath coming from Alvira was audible.
She broke it with a maniacing loud laugh. It wasn't a laughter that meant something was funny, neither was it a happy laughter. But a laughter laced with pain, sorrow and something more like regret.
Kayla slowly shook her head sideways. Her eyes were bulging out in terror. "Snap out of it! snap out of it Al!, SNAP OUT OF IT." She landed a resounding slap on Alvira after screaming that last line. She was acting possessed and she feared her friend was running mad. She had to do something about it.
Alvira quietened down after that slap was rendered to her. She just ogled at Kayla with wide eyes while breathing hard.
