Chapter 17 - Lying Again

"Gosh!" Jake shrieked.

"Why?" Jade leaned his head closer to Jake.

"I just remember. That person also said something like old times when I said goodbye." said Rakka.

"What's the point?" He's curious.

"Hmm… 'Don't get entangled with the memories of the past. The memory only fools you and destroys you again, don't repeat the same mistakes.' something like that." Jake explained.

Jade was silent and took a step back and then looked again at Jayna. This time, they met eyes and smiled at each other.

"So, what's our next step?" Jake asked Jade who looked nervous after hearing his story.

"I am also confused. It's not the same as I thought before. What does all this mean, I am also confused." Jade looks restless while biting the tip of his thumb nail.

"should we continue our journey to grandparents' village? Will it be alright then?" Jake slowly asked.

"Or should we just postpone it for another time?" added Jake.

Jade just remained silent. His eyes moved quickly and he frowned.

Jake was getting more and more worried seeing Jade's attitude, he had never seen anything like this in his eldest brother. It was the first time he had seen his eldest brother that nervous.

"We still need to go there. We should at least know, to what extent Jayna's dream will affect all these puzzles. Let's just let our wife and kids stay and stay at the hotel with Edward. The three of us will go alone." said Jade. He still looked restless even though he tried to be okay in front of Jake.

"Are you sure Bro?" Asked Jake doubtfully.

"Yes. This is our chance. To minimize the risk, the three of us only went. Tomorrow I will explain for the others." said Jade again.

"Okay. If you think we should go like that." Jake agrees with Jade's plan.

Jayna watched her two older brothers chatting while smoking near the red and green giraffe statue. They seemed to be having a very serious conversation. Suddenly Jade turned to Jayna who was watching them, Jayna was shocked and reflexively smiled at Jade.

'Jade has a sixth sense, maybe? Very aware that he is being watched.' Jayna said to herself.

Jayna was secretly still watching her two older brothers who were still engrossed in their chat.

'Jade, why? Why is he so nervous? It's not usual for he to bite his finger like that.' Jayna was still muttering to herself in her thoughts.

Every now and then, Jayna noticed her two nephews who had finished their food. Edward was leaving to order new food for Jayna.

'What's wrong?' Jayna wondered what her two brothers were talking about at that time. Jayna couldn't figure out what they were talking about. Apart from the fact that they are quite far apart, the two of them stand with their backs to Jayna.

"Jay!" Edward intentionally startled Jayna.

"Oh my gosh!! EDWARD!!" Jayna hit Edward's arm.

"What are you looking at, Jay? You look so serious!!" sneered Edward.

"Look at the handsome boy just passing by." Jayna answered curtly.

"Me??" asked Edward confidently.

"Gosh!!" Jayna quickly turned his head away.

"Come on, you don't have to be shy. Just admit it .." Edward teased at Jayna who deliberately took a hard sip of her noodle. Edward laughed cheerfully at her.

"Jay, look at that!" Edward nudged Jayna who was about to take another sip of the oil.

"Mmm." Jayna paid no attention to Edward.

"Jay. Look at their!!!" Edward fondly held Jayna's cheeks and turned her towards her two nephews who were staring at her.

"Want some more?" Jayna asked her two nieces with noodles still hanging in her mouth.

"Hehehe.. may we?" Answer both in unison.

"Here. Use that fork, together. Don't fight it." Jayna gave again her noodles.

Jayna looked at Edward, but Edward immediately averted his gaze and quickly devoured his delayed meal.

"Ed .." Jayna called Edward softly.

Edward was still busy chewing his food and ignored Jayna who called out to him.

"Ed!" Jayna tapped Edward on the shoulder.

"What else!?" Edward was startled.

"Can you share your food with me.. I am hungry.." Jayna pleaded.

"You want?" asked Edward.

"Yes." Jayna begged Edward.

"There is a password." Edward said with a smile.

"What's the password?" Jayna replied.

"Hei handsome Edward, can you share the food or not? try it." Edward gave a sly smile as he said it.

"Oh Gosh, No. I won't!" Jayna immediately turned her head away.

"Yeah.." Edward continued his chewing.

"Mh. Very delicious!" Edward deliberately teased Jayna who was hungry.

Jayna gulped as Edward chewed his food.

'Ah, what a fool!' said Jayna's mind.

"Handsome Edward, can you share the food?!" Jayna said it quickly.

"What? too quickly. I don't hear it." Edward was startled.

'DAMN!' Jayna thought.

Jayna took in a deep breath.

"Handsome Edward, can you share the food?" Repeat Jayna softer.

Edward, who was satisfied, handed Jayna his food with a satisfied smile.

Ring… Ring… Ring…

Edward's cell phone rang.

"Just finish it Jay, I'll answer the call first." Edward told Jayna who was busy chewing.

'Indeed, who would want to spare food for you after that damn password' Jayna said in her heart.

Jayna felt two times hungrier than before after saying the password Edward had asked for. She did not deny that Edward was handsome, but if she admitted it then all the victories she had achieved so far seemed to be zero.

Edward had moved to a place quite far from Jayna and her family.

"Hello, sweetie?" Edward had just answered the phone.

"How long did it take? Where are you? Let's watch film on cinema?" Answer the voice on the other end of the cell.

"Sorry, I didn't hear that. Do you want to watch? I don't think I can right now. the day after tomorrow?" Edward answered at the voice.

"Why? Busy? I've already bought the ticket though." Answered the voice wearily.

"I'm sorry. I'm out of town for that matter. Just came back the day after tomorrow." Edward replied doubtfully.

"Are you out of town on an assignment? Yesterday you didn't say you had an assignment out of town." It sounded curious.

Edward hesitated to tell the truth or lie to his lover, Leina.

"It's sudden. Is it okay?" asked Edward.

"It's okay. Who did you go with?" Asked Leina again.

"Jayna and her family." Edward was slipping.

"What does that mean?" Leina's voice was muffled.

'Edward idiot!' Edward cursed to himself.

"It means that Jayna took her family along for a vacation. Coincidentally, they do have vacation plans, so go ahead. That's why he came home the day after tomorrow. I ride their family car so I don't get tired on the road" Edward reasoned quickly.

"Oh yes. You must be tired if you drive by yourself. What city?"

"Yeah, I thought so too. Rather than tired. East City." Edward sighed in relief.

"What are you doing? Have eaten? How far are you now?" Leina was bombarding him with questions.

"Just arrived, at the foodcourt, eating. We're at the zoo, we're taking Jayna's two nieces first. Tomorrow morning I'll meet a new client. Don't forget to eat too." Edward was nervous when he said that.

"Yes. Let me know when you arrive at the inn."

"Yes dear. alright then." Edward ended it.

"Be careful. Don't forget to let me know. Love you!"

"Love you back, baby." Edward ended the call.

"Are you full?" Edward went to Jayna who was seen cleaning up his used dinner plate.

"Off course!" Jayna picked up the tray and walked over to put it back.
