Chapter 22 - Avoid Them As Much As Possible

"Have you reconciled? It should be. It seems cool." Jade asked Jayna and Edward who came over with a smile and a laugh at them.

"Did we have a fight?" Jayna asked back with a confused face.

"Since last night the two of you are like a cat and a mouse when you're together." said Jake next to Jade.

"Yeah, we've already bet when the world war will start again." June joked at them both.

They just laughed. It's not unusual for everyone to realize that the two of them are indeed having problems. Because all this time, Jayna's family has memorized the interactions between the two of them since they were in high school.

"Let's go for a walk." Take Jade down the stairs of the museum by holding his wife and children.

They all walked towards the parking lot where their van was.

Quite a distance behind them, Drey had also just exited the museum and headed for the parking lot.

"Shit!! Why do you have to be next to them!" Drey slowed his pace when he saw the van Jayna and Edward were traveling in parked right beside his vehicle.

Drey crouched down, pretending to tie the laces of his untied shoes. When Jayna and all his family got into the van, he stood up and walked towards the parking lot. He pretended not to notice as van Jayna and his family passed him as they exited the parking lot.

"It's a good thing I didn't have to say hello to them." Drey muttered as he got into his car.

Drey sped his car out of the parking lot. Suddenly someone blocked the speed of the car. Drey's tires screeched from braking suddenly when Daphne, who had come from nowhere, was already in front of Drey's moving car.

"Insane girl! What else is there." Drey smacked the steering wheel as Daphne ran over and opened the door next to her driver's seat.

"I'm coming with you." Daphne said after closing the door of the car she was in without the owner's approval.

"Get off!" Drey told Daphne firmly.

"No. I'll follow you to the inn!" Daphne half forced.

"You came here with your brother. Why not go home with him?!" Drey turned off the engine of his car.

"I already told Harry, I came home with you." Daphne paid no heed to Drey's anger towards her.

"Let's go. What are you waiting for?" Daphne jolted Drey.

Drey resignedly started the engine of his car and drove back the vehicle. They just stayed silent along the way to the inn.

"Drey." Daphne opened her voice.

"Don't even think about giving unreasonable orders like apologizing with those two losers." Drey snapped at Daphne.

"So, don't like to interrupt the conversation, please." Daphne is pissed off.

"Then what?" Drey replied curtly.

"I'm hungry." Daphne half-begged Drey.

"What do you want to eat?" Drey asked Daphne again.

"Goat satay. The famous one." Daphne answered with a smile.

Meanwhile, Harry, who was still enjoying the atmosphere in the museum, walked leisurely while chatting with one of Daphne's friends who decided to split up and continue the tour on their own.

Harry stopped in front of an aquarium filled with large, colorful ornamental fish. Next to him was a small woman with her hair tied in a ponytail, also standing staring at the same aquarium.

"What's going on?" Harry asked the woman.

"Miss Daphne and the 2 people you just mentioned are the owners of the company that will be working with our company?" asked the woman, keeping her eyes on the aquarium.

"Yes." Harry answered curtly.

"It seems they've been friends since high school, as Miss Daphne explained. And the four of them, together with Mr. Drey, are in the same class." he said.

"Then?" Harry asked.

"It seems they had a bad relationship back then. Miss Daphne and Mr Drey sounded as if they were trying to humiliate them by bringing up the past. What's more, Mr Drey called them 'the nerd' and 'the frog prince'. And Mr. Edward replied by calling Mr Drey as Miss Daphne's errand boy from then until now." She explained the situation she saw very clearly.

Without asking too much about this and that, Harry could understand as he recalled Daphne's sudden change in behavior when she introduced Edward and Jayna as owners of the company they were going to work with.

We go back to Drey and Daphne who are heading to a restaurant that Daphne wants. Just as Drey entered the restaurant's grounds, a van went past his car.

"Let's go elsewhere." Drey was driving straight.

"Why?!" Daphne glared at Drey who was driving.

"In the van there were Jayna and Edward." Drey said casually.

"And then?" Daphne innocently asked.

"Do you want to eat in an awkward atmosphere?" Drey replied.

"Why should it be awkward?" Daphne casually answered him.

"After what happened earlier, you still ask?" Drey held back the tone of his voice that was getting annoyed with Daphne.

"Drey! That place is big enough to pass them Drey." Daphne answered.

"Turn around!" Daphne said.

"NO!" Drey flatly refused.

"Drey!! Turn around. I want some satay over there." Daphne pulled Drey's hand off the steering wheel.

"Daphne!!! It's dangerous, you idiot!!" Drey shouted at Daphne.

"Then turn around!" Daphne was still clutching Drey's shirt.

Drey's tires squeaked.

"Get down!" Drey stopped the car on the side of the sidewalk.

"DREY!! ARE YOU CRAZY?" Daphne screamed in the car as Drey wanted to drop her off.

"YES!! Come down if you want to stay there and meet Jayna and Edward. Just thinking about it is driving me insane!" Drey replied with a shout as well.

"Drey, come on. What is it that makes you have to be like that? Why avoid them? We will eventually meet them again." Daphne tried to calm an upset Drey.

"You meet them. I don't want to run this project with them." Drey hit the steering wheel and started the car again.

"If you don't want to come down, that's up to you." Drey added with a curt tone.

Daphne was just silent with Drey's behavior. She just couldn't understand what had made Drey so angry. She didn't feel like she said anything wrong. And what's the problem if they cross paths with Jayna and Edward at the diner. They can pretend not to know each other or pretend not to see them. What's so hard?

"Where are we headed?" Daphne asked.

"Eat elsewhere." Drey replied.

"Where to eat?" Daphne asked again.

"You'll see." Drey answered curtly.

"Don't take me out to eat on the side of the road. Hot and smells like sweat." Daphne warned Drey.

"Yeah. Got it. Don't worry. The place fits your outfit." Drey replied casually to Daphne.

"Good if you understand." Daphne smiled at Drey's answer.

Ting.

A voice message came in on Daphne's cell phone. From Harry, her older brother.

Harry: Position?

"There's an incoming message from Harry." Daphne made an announcement.

"Why did he say?" Drey asked.

"Just asking, where." Daphne replied while replying to Harry's message.

"Just reply first." said Drey.

"Yes." Daphne answered while typing a long sounding message.

Daphne: Still on the way. With Drey, I want to find a place to eat first. Maybe a bit late to the inn.

Harry: Yes, be careful. Let me know when you arrive at the inn. I want to talk.

Daphne: What do you want to talk about? Urgent?

Harry: Yes. Bring Drey too.

Daphne: What's the problem, bro?

Harry: Later.

Daphne: Fine.

"Harry will talk later. With the two of us." Daphne put the phone back in her bag.

"What is it?" Drey asked, surprised.

"I don't know. It's important." Daphne replied casually.

"Just eat first." Added Daphne.

Drey walked into an ornate restaurant filled with very thick local-themed ornaments.
