" As you know Scott, Darwin the professor and Ian were all within the M'Kraan crystal for quite some time. For Darwin, his powers made it so his body would survive inside the crystal. For Charles it's much better. His legs are fine, and his mutation has been returned. He's one of us again." Hank explained to the man.
" I see that, Hank. But that still doesn't explain what's happened to Ian. Why is he still unconscious?" Scott asked the man.
" Well, one would much worse when entering a universal-sized black hole with the power to kill us all." Hank joked. " But in all honesty, I'm not sure. His mutation is somewhat similar to Darwin's, with the exception being that instead of instantly adapting the situation, it takes time. Perhaps that is what went wrong. Perhaps the energy inside the Crystal shorted out his healing factor and that's why he's still in a coma." Hank told the man.
Scott sighed and rubbed his head, things were just piling up, one thing after another.
" Okay, well is there anything else?" Scott asked.
" There is... Something else actually. When I was doing energy readings, I noticed something quite strange." Hank stated.
" What is it, Hank?" Scott asked.
" Well, it's just... His energy readings have skyrocketed. They're similar in levels to yours and Alex, Scott." Hank told the man.
" How's that possible?" Scott asked.
" Well, I believe the report we received from Kurt and James stated that Ian had shown some form of energy manipulation, similar to that of Vulcan's." Hank explained.
" That's impossible." Scott stated.
" Not necessarily. It's only a theory of mine, but we've never seen what happens when his body interacts with energy before." Hank stated.
" Yes, we have. He's been hit by Noriko's electricity quite a few times." Scott spoke.
" Yes, but his body is dense, Scott. I doubt the levels of electricity that Noriko can generate can even hurt him, and if they can it's obviously not to the levels of being seen as life-threatening." Hank replied.
" So, what are you saying Hank?" Scott asked. " Is he?"
Seeing where Scott was going, Hank shrugged his shoulders.
" Cerebro, still has at a class B. A beta. But if what the others have said is true, then we might need to upgrade." Hank stated. " Only time will tell."
" Keep me updated, Hank. I need to go see to Rogue's team. The mission went to high hell." Scott told the man.
" Of course, Scott." Hank replied.
Scott sighed and walked away from the man, his nerves on high.
" First, Jean-Paul and Auora attack and now these children of the vault are attacking. One mess after another. You know something, young man, I'm beginning to think that maybe this is our fate. Destined to fight and die for the rest of our lives. Is that anyway to live?" Hank asked. " Sorry, you probably can't hear me right now. My mistake." Hank went back to checking on the other men and women who also currently occupied the medical room.
" Ugh! Do you need to talk like that, Hank? You're making my head spin more." Bobby spoke up.
" Oh! Bobby, you're awake. How are you feeling?" Hanka sked the man.
" Like I was just shattered into a million pieces." Bobby replied.
As he said that Sam Guthrie walked into the room and laughed at the man.
" Ha! That's because you were." Sam told the man.
" Not funny." Bobby replied. Still feeling the pain from his fight with Auora.
" Well, it might not be funny, Bobby. But it was still impressive none the less. Evaporating and then recondensing. Bobby, I do believe that's an X-Man first." Hank told the man. " How's it done?" Hank asked.
" I- I don't even know, Hank. I was still aware. Still conscious. Then I found that if I concentrated, I could sort of-- Coalesce. Pull my self together again." Bobby explained.
" I'm going to take a reading of your core density. It may be-"
" It's eighteen percent down on normal mean values. Salt and potassium down by a quarter,"
One of the institutes new additions Karima, a human turned omega sentinel, explained as she cut Hank off.
" Almost suspiciously precise, Miss Shapandar." Hank stated.
" Sentinel tech. Analyzing mutant abilities is part of core functionality." Karima explained to the man.
" Yes, of course." Hank replied. He then turned his attention back to Bobby. " Well, Bobby, I'm prescribing you bed rest and a liquid hydrogen bath. Should have you perky again in no time." Hank explained to the man. " It'll mean sealing you though, I'm afraid."
Bobby slumped down in bed, he certainly wasn't feeling the hottest right now. But that's why Sam was there.
" You'll be fine, Bobby." Sam told the man.
" I know. But right now, I feel like a slush puppy." Bobby told the man. " Thank, Mystique for me, Sam. She kind of came through when I needed it."
" Don't worry, buddy. I'll let her know. You just rest now. You as well, Miss Karima." Hank stated. He grabbed his clip board and turned the lights in the room down, and then he and sam got ready to leave.
However, just before Sam could leave, he felt a presence in the room
" Hello? Somebody there?" Sam asked. He turned back around and walked over to Lady Mastermind's bed, another new resident to the mansion since M-Day. And in that moment, Sam's whole world turned around as one of the Children of the Vault Serafina, had stolen Lady mastermind's powers and used them to create an illusion world for Sam.
In twenty short seconds, Serafina and Sam lived an entire lifetime in their world.
Sam hit the ground hard, and Serafina stood over him and began going over the people in the infirmary, seemingly looking for someone of particular.
However, as she looked over them, she soon came to a stop in front of Ian's bed and looked down at his chart.
" Hm, this one should be interesting." The lady spoke. She used Lady Mastermind's powers once more to enter, Ian's mind and began wading through it. She noticed how much of a wreck his mind really was. There were ruins everywhere, memories jumbled together, shattered, and separated. She wondered how someone with a mind like this could still be sane.
Although his mind scape was in ruins, Ian's presence was still there and aware of everything that was going on around him.
" Who are you?" Ian asked.
This surprised Serafina. She hadn't expected the young man to have been able to manifest his own will inside his tattered mind. Not with it in such shambles.
" I'm sorry, I didn't think anyone was at home right now. Just relax, the less you resist the less this will hurt. Well, it's not like it really matters anyway, your mind's already in shambles. So, a little more pressure won't hurt it too bad." Serafina told the boy.
Ian grabbed his head and the world started changing, in his current state, he wasn't capable of defending himself.
But thankfully, he wouldn't have to.
Back in reality, Serafina's wires had been disconnected from Lady Mastermind's body, meaning that her usage of the woman's powers were gone. Thus, Serafina was dragged back to the physical plane.
" These yours?" Logan asked the woman. " You made a big mistake messing with the boy's head lady. He's one of mine. Though to be honest, I'm a bit relieved you exist. I thought I was going crazy." Logan told the woman. " It was like there was a dead zone all around you. A moving blind spot."
" Going crazy? I know all about you Wolverine. I believe that would be a very short age trip." Serafina told the man. She threw a bunch of small objects at Logan and the man cut them with his claws.
" Don't play well with others, do you, frail? Well, that's okay, neither do I." Logan told the woman. Logan cut them all down but noticed that something was wrong with his claws.
"Adamantium has thirteen allotropic forms. Unstable, and short-lived, but virulently poisonous." Serafina explained. " This is a brief taste of adamantium nine."
As Serafina explained her adamantium, Logan dropped to the ground in pain and convulsing.
" S-Sarah! Don't!" Sam yelled as he finally awoke.
" It's Serafina, Cannonball. I lied to you about my name. And my species." Serafina told the man. She rushed cannonball while he was still defenseless. " In the vault, reproductions is Asexual. I wanted to try the other kind. I'm weak. I should have resisted. But when else could I have done it without actually touching you?" Serafina asked. She kicked the man in his head hard and he dropped. " If it's any consolation, I enjoyed our time together- All four minutes of it. And I'll remember you... When your kind is gone." The woman said to the man. She then began to disappear once more.
