Chapter 6 - Issue #6

Ian sped up the hallway and to the gymnasium, it was the weekend, and the sun hadn't come up yet, so no one was out and about.

" Alright, runt. Hank made me promise him not to take it too hard on ya from the start. Of course, I lied. So, any questions?" Logan asked.

" Well, yeah actually." Ian replied.

Logan stormed up to Ian and punched him in the gut.

" Ah!" Ian felt the wind leave hie body as he dropped to the floor, clutching onto his stomach all the while.

" I don't care what your questions are! My job is simple, make you the best version of you I can and teach ya how to survive. Got it?!" Logan shouted.

He grabbed Ian by his neck and pulled him up to his feet.

" I can't hear you runt!" Logan exclaimed.

" Yes sir!" Ian replied, still winded from the gut check he received from Logan.

" You want to be a hero, kid? You want to be an X-Man?" Logan asked.

" Yes sir!" Ian exclaimed once more.

" Then get running, and don't stop until you fall!" Logan shouted.

" Where?" Ian asked.

" RUN!" Logan got in Ian's face and shouted for him to just run.

Ian stumbled backwards and took off around the entirety of the gym.

He was still new to this and was still very much out of shape, so it wasn't long until he began getting tired and his breathing becoming harder.

Logan watched as Ian struggled to make it through his first lap, taking a nice and long drag from his cigar while still working off the whiskey from earlier.

" Come on, Runt! You haven't even finished a lap yet!" Logan shouted to thee boy.

Ian looked at Logan in shock.

" What?! But I've gone around the gym three times!" Ian shouted.

" Nah you haven't. I don't think you've even completed half a lap. Keep running!" Logan replied.

" AHHHHH!" Ian groaned while Logan simply sat back and laughed.

About thirty minutes later, Ian was on the floor, sweating profusely and breathing heavily.

" Am I... Done yet?" Ian asked.

" Yeah, with running. Now get down in a push up position." Logan told the boy.

" Wait... Can I take a break real quick?" Ian asked.

" Yes... Breaks up Get down." Logan said to the boy.

" Yes, sir." Ian replied. He knew in his mind that any kind of negotiation was out of the question, so he decided to just do as Logan said and assumed the position.

" Give me as many as you can kid." Logan told the boy.

Ian nodded and began trying to do push-ups. But failed to do more than twenty, which more than surprised Logan.

' He's so small and he can do twenty perfectly fine pushups. Not bad. For a rookie.' Logan thought to himself. He was impressed to say the least.

" GAAAAH!" Ian sniffled and picked himself back up and continued doing more. Though it only amounted to five measly bad-formed pushups.

" Alright, kid that's enough. Get up. Time for the real training to begin." Logan spoke.

" Wha?!" Ian exclaimed.

Logan cackled evilly, scaring Ian slightly.

" Don't worry kid, this is only gonna hurt a lot." Logan sneered.

A few hours later.

" Heh Not bad kid. I'd say that's enough for one session. Make sure to get up and washed up, I have an afternoon class today, I want you to be there. Oh, and clean that blood up before ya go will ya." Logan told the boy. He left Ian behind, bleeding, on the floor, from his nose and mouth after giving him his first martial arts lesson, in which Logan beat the poor kid bloody.

Ian's whole body hurt, from head to toe, all of it was nothing but pain and suffering. And for the first time in his life, Ian wished that he couldn't walk again.

" I really wish, I was still on crutches. At this rate I might just end up needing them again." Ian complained. He slowly picked himself up from the floor and wiped his face. He sat there, Ian did. Simply looking at his blood and wondering if her really had what it takes to do all this. If he can't handle a simple training session with Logan, how was he gonna handle something a little more... Well dangerous. " I've got a long road. Not gonna go anywhere complaining am I right? And hey who knows maybe one day I'll give that bastard a taste of his medicine. Heha! Now wouldn't that be something? You know, I've got another hour until everyone might start waking up. I think I've got a little mor in me." Ian completely feeling a new sense of rejuvenation and motivation, mostly his want to kick Logan's ass, decided to keep on going for a little while longer.

After another hour of hard work and sweat, Ian decided now was the time to clean himself up and get ready for the day,

Ian wiped down the equipment he used and just as Logan asked, cleaned up the blood.

" I think that's enough for now. Let's go take a shower." Ian exclaimed. He was happy, he accomplished more in one day than he had in his entire life.

Ian hurried back upstairs hoping to get back to his room before someone saw him and ruined the surprise.

Unfortunately Julian, who had just left his weekend "reformation" Class with Miss Frost, was walking back to his room in a huff and just so happened to see Ian running at the end of the hallway.

" Huh?!" Julian jumped up and started rubbing his eyes in shock. " Was that.... Cripple?" Julian asked himself. He couldn't believe what his eyes had seen, " No way. I'm probably just tired from that damn remedial class miss frost is making me take. No way Cripple is running like that." Julian scoffed and continued his way back to his room believing himself to just be seeing things.

Having arrived back at his room, Ian began shuffling through his closet to find something good to wear for his class, wanting to make an impact on his big reveal.

" Haha! This is gonna be so great. Julian won't know what to say." Ian exclaimed.

In the end he decided to just wear a plain white t and a pair of shorts, since after all, he would be working out again.

Ian grabbed his clothes and quickly showered. And by the time he was done, it was time for Logan's afternoon session.

" Damn, I feel good. I feel like a new man already!" Ian reveled in his newfound stamina, his body already basically healed and ready for more punishment.
