Chapter 7 - After High School Graduate

Smith tries to find his cell phone.  However, it turned out that there was nothing in his pants pocket.  He thinks if his phone fell in the lake.  Smith then thought about contacting Clara's parents on the hospital phone.  But he doesn't remember the number.

Smith in his still wet clothes then went outside and ran as fast as he could to public transport.  Because his wallet didn't fall, he still had money to pay for public transportation.

Arriving at Clara's house, Smith's breath was still out of breath.  He knocked on Clara's door and Clara's mother came out.

"Excuse me auntie, sorry to interrupt the time. I want to tell you that Clara is in the hospital now. Sorry, I have made your child go to the hospital," said Smith.

"Huh? How come? How is she now? In which hospital?"  scorned her mother Clara.

"At Permata hospital. So earlier I took Clara to the lake. And who knows who pushed us and finally we fell into the lake. Then Clara got stuck in the lake. After I got Clara, she was unconscious. Then I took her to the hospital. I'm a sorry auntie," explained Smith.

"That's it. We're going to the hospital now!"  take Clara's mother.

Arriving at the hospital, Clara had been transferred to the treatment room.  Elen and Smith went straight to Clara's room to be treated.

"Clara, how are you?"  asked Ellen.

"Mom. You are here," said Clara.

"Yes. Smith has told you everything. I will be here soon. What's your complaint?"  asked Ellen.

"I don't feel anything anymore. Maybe i can go home too," Clara answered with a smile.

"So you went to the lake? Then someone pushed? Didn't you see who pushed?"  scorned Ellen.

"No, ma'am. If we knew we might have avoided it earlier," said Clara.

"Then what are you guys doing at the lake? Instead of going straight home, you just wandered off," Elen sneered.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I was the one who took Clara to the lake. I ..." Smith had not finished explaining that Clara had cut him off.

"Smith wants me to be his wife, Mom," Clara interrupted.

"Huh? Seriously?"  said Elen, surprised.

Hearing that did not make Smith feel ashamed.  He was proud that his future mother-in-law had known his intentions.

"Yes, that's right, ma'am. I do want Clara to be my wife. But wait until I graduate from high school. I just want to make sure how Clara feels about me. And also so that other people don't get ahead of me," Smith replied firmly.

"I have agreed from the beginning that you two were in a relationship. Because I saw Smith, you are a good and responsible man. Clara's father also feels the same way. However, are you sure about getting married after graduating from high school?"  asked Ellen.

"Yes, ma'am. I have several businesses to be able to support Clara's life. And I am also optimistic that I can pay for all of her needs and support Clara to continue her studies. I just want to have a legal relationship as husband and wife with Clara," Smith answered firmly.

"Okay. For the final decision, there must be Clara's father as well. Now the question is who was the one who pushed you into the lake? That is a dangerous activity and can be punished. Luckily Clara survived, otherwise what?"  Ellen grumbled.

Everyone was silent.  Indeed, who was the person who had deliberately pushed Smith and Clara into the lake?  Even though at that time the atmosphere on the lake was quite quiet.  Moreover, to obtain evidence there is no CCTV to support it.

That night Clara was allowed to go home.  Smith also drove Clara home.  At home, Herman was already waiting for his family to arrive.

"Where are you guys from?"  Herman asked.

After everyone was seated, Elen then explained the chronology of Clara until she was able to enter the hospital.  And Smith's statement asking Clara to be his wife.

"How can that be? It's outrageous for that person. I will find the person who pushed you to make Clara go to the hospital," said Herman.

"I also hope that person can be found," said Elen.

"So you have stated that you want to make my daughter your wife after you graduate from high school?"  Herman asked.

"Yes, Sir. I sincerely love Clara. Even though we are young, I want to make your child happy. I promise to be able to keep it," replied Smith.

"I approve. But you just need to do your best at school! Because your current obligation is to study. As students, you only need to complete high school education, so that's up to you," said Herman.

"So Dad allowed us to get married after high school?"  asked Clara.

"Yes," Herman answered firmly.

"Well, now you go home, Smith! Your family must be looking for you. Your uniform is dirty like that," said Herman.

"Okay, Sir. Thank you very much in advance. Then I'll excuse myself," said Smith.

After Smith came home, Herman wanted to ask Clara.

"Clar, you can marry after high school. But show your best performance before you get married. I want you to marry with good performance. I'm not asking you to be number one. But do the best you can and as much as you can. I want to let go of you with people who can guide you to be better," said Herman.

"Yes, Dad. I'll try my best. But maybe tomorrow I want to rest for a day. It feels like after drowning my body feels weak," said Clara.

"Yes. You just rest first! I will also try to find the person who pushed you into the lake," Herman replied.
