Chapter 42 - 40. Twilight of gods - Part Two

Hurriedly they hid behind a nearby wall. Peeping out, they could see how the being, that Damien called death - sucked life out of the stationed guards at the left wing.

Their bodies decomposed immediately. Theo held his mouth with his hand. The scene was disgusting, he turned back to Damien "What in fuck's name is that?"

"I told you, it's death"

"You have to be more specific, Damien" Theo said and peeped again. What he saw made him jolt and without delay he grabbed his brother. "It's coming" he said as they made a run for it, again.

At there next turn, twelve Red Draconian guards were positioned. They all bowed when they saw their princes.

Theo walked up to the one in front.

"You all have to leave, now" Theo said still panting from the previous run of his life.

The guards exchange looks, then one of them asked "Are you okay, Your highness?"

"I just ordered you all to leave, and you are asking me if am okay. Do I look alright?" Theo asked with a loud voice.

"This is our post, Your highness, and we can't leave. Unless the second prince says otherwise" another one answered.

"Listen, you don't understand there's something coming and it's...dangerous -"

"Theo" Damien called him, "It's already here."

Immediately the guards started to choke, Theo could see their breath leaving their body. But there was no time to stand and watch, so he dragged Damien along as they ran towards the east wing.

They pushed open Kal's study room and rushed inside, closing the door behind them.

Kal stood up from his chair, "What is it?" he asked.

"Death...it's coming" Damien said as he crouched to the ground to catch his breath.

"What?" Kal asked confused. "What are you talking about?"

"Kal," Theo said as he came closer to him, "This might seem a bit crazy, but there is this being in the castle ... and it's killing anyone it sees"

"I don't think I understand you" Kal said.

"Great Rao!" Theo ran his fingers into his hair in frustration. Then the door suddenly flew open.

Damian stood up straight, as he watched 'Death' enter inside the study room.

"It's here" he said.

"What's here, I don't see anything" Kal said glancing around.

Immediately Damian rushed to Kal, and held his hand. He felt the same rush, and then he saw what was standing at the opened door.

"Do you see it now?" Theo asked.

"Bright, and clear" Kal said as he dipped his hand into his long jacket and brought out a certain sliver coin.

"What are you doing?" Theo asked.

"It can't see." Kal informed, "It follows sounds" he threw the coin at the left side.

The death being turned to the left. But still stood where it is.

"The blood running down it's face is preventing it from seeing" Kal informed in a whisper "The only thing it sees is blood and death"

"How do you know all this?" Damien asked in a whisper.

"I read a lot of books" Kal whispered back and threw another coin at the left.

But it still refuse to move.

"It knows we're here" Kal whispered to his brothers, as they started to move backwards.

"I'm really convinced that we can fight this thing" Theo said.

"It's a spirit being, death personified. We can't fight it" Kal explained, "Just keep moving backwards" he instructed them. And they did just that, moving backwards, while the death being moved forward.

Kal brought out another coin, before he looked up at the chandelier. His brothers already knew his plan, and they took cover. So with the supernatural strength that every god had, Kal threw the coin up at the chandelier - and it broke immediately into a million pieces.

The perfect diversion plan. Without wasting much time, they ran out of the study room, Kal wanted to lead the spirit being out of the palace, away from the ongoing party.

They stopped abruptly in front of the wide widow at the upper wing. Kal drew the window open, air rushed in, scattering their hair.

"We have to jump" Kal said, looking down at the height.

"What?" Theo asked, it was quite a great height, they would certainly break some bones if they indulge in the jumping.

The numerous touch lights that were lit, in their direction - blew off suddenly.

Damien looked at their back - as rushing air started to approach them.

"We have no other choice. At the count of three we jump" Kal said.

"One...two,"

"Great Rao" Theo whispered.

"Three," and immediately they jumped out of the widow.
