"How did you... " Aurora trailed when Amberly suddenly barged in.
"I am very upset." she announced as she stormed inside and sat on a stool.
"Amberly," Aurora said as she glanced at the grim reaper who just leaned on the closed door. She then walked to her friend and asked. "Is something wrong?"
Amberly looked at her, then all of a sudden she started crying, well Aurora knew that it was a fake cry.
"Jonathan is seeing another girl behind my back" she said, making loud crying noises.
"Amberly I'm so sorry" Aurora said patting her softly.
Amberly sobbed, "Sorry? Do you think that sorry will fix this?"
"But what do you want me to say" Aurora said.
Amberly sobbed even harder, "I'm heart broken. Do something about it" she said and sneezed into a clean towel.
"Were you the one that broke her heart?" the grim reaper asked.
"Shut up" Aurora told him, but Amberly looked up at her.
"Did you just tell me to shut up?" she asked.
"No. I did not say that" Aurora said, and the grim reaper smiled.
"Where is Annika?" Aurora asked.
Amberly sighed, "Her mama forbid her to leave the house"
"Why?"
Amberly stood up, "I don't know. I'm having an emotional breakdown, and Annika is all you care about" she snapped.
Aurora said nothing as she just looked at her.
"I can't believe you" Amberly said.
"If Jonathan is no longer interested in you, I don't see any reason for you to cry about it" Aurora told her.
Amberly smacked her lips, "Aurora Ashtin, the girl that knows nothing about love is suddenly giving me a piece of advice."
"I ... I was just trying to help" Aurora said.
Amberly waved her hand, "Oh, please" then she walked into the kitchen.
"Hmm," the grim reaper hummed as he came closer to the mortal girl.
"Well, your friendship is interesting" he told her.
"Amberly she, s-she is difficult sometimes" Aurora said.
"She's a brat, and she is rude" he said, standing behind her.
Aurora turned facing him, "She's not"
"She is." the reaper said.
"Well, you don't know her" Aurora said.
"Who are you speaking with?" Amberly asked standing infront of the kitchen door.
Aurora turned, "No one" she answered.
"You were clearly talking to someone" Amberly stated.
Aurora didn't respond, she didn't see the need to, she can see the reaper, Amberly can't.
"Aurora, please for today, stop acting so crazy. You are creeping me out" Amberly said. Then she looked closer and asked, "What are you wearing?"
Aurora glanced down at Zander's jacket that she wore.
"Zander gave it to me" she said with a smile.
"Oh, your fantasy savior" she said and closed her eyes. "The jacket is very style worthy, but it suits you not."
The grim reaper leaned at Aurora's shoulder and said. "And you said she's not a brat"
"Can I try it on?" Amberly asked.
Aurora clenched the jacket, "I...don't -"
"I'm not going to eat it, Aurora. I just want to try it on, I'll give it back" Amberly said.
Aurora exhaled, before she removed the jacket and handed it to Amberly, who took it and wore it.
It was not that over sized, Amberly wasn't as small as Aurora.
"It smells nice" Amberly said admiring the jacket on her. "I really like this jacket. It's nice and clean, it's the kind of clothing that I deserve"
"I think I'll hold on to this" Amberly said with a smile.
"What?" Aurora asked, "No, you have to give it back. It's not mine"
"So?"
"That's not how...you can't just take what doesn't belongs to you like that...that's not how it works"
"Then how does it? What could you possibly know. Aurora you know nothing, you have been cooped up inside this house all your life" Amberly snapped, "I know better, and I'm much smarter than you"
Aurora stared at the ground, as tears threatened to fall down, but somehow she held it in. Then she looked up, "Amberly, please just give it back"
Amberly glared at her, before she removed the jacket angrily and tossed it on the ground. Then she left.
Aurora inhaled deeply, before she bent down and picked up the jacket.
"How can you let her speak to you like that" the reaper asked.
Aurora sat at the nearby stool, her legs has started to ache painfully.
"She's my friend" she said.
"Aurora, friends don't behave like that" the reaper said.
Aurora said nothing, she didn't know what else to say. Ever since the villagers deemed her and her papa as cursed and outcasts, it was only Annika and Amberly that stood by her side, no matter what anyone said. But sometimes Amberly's behavior and words can be and rude and inconsiderate.
"Well, goodbye for now human" the reaper said with a wave.
"Wait, you haven't -" Aurora didn't finish her words as the grim reaper disappeared into thin air.
"Answered my question" Aurora finished. How did the reaper know Zander well enough to distinguish his scent.
Is he a reaper too? Aurora asked herself, because she was certain that Zander is no human. He was just too perfect looking, and there were things about him that is too mysterious and enthralling to be a human. She could see things that no one else could -- Ghosts, grim reapers.... Who knows what else she could see. Whatever Zander is, Aurora was determined to find out.
