Chapter 4 - I Missed You

In Guangzhou University, the university exam was fast approaching. There were three weeks left until the beginning of the exams.

Liu Xiuying stayed up late at night, revising what the lecturers had taught them from the beginning of the semester till now. She had no one to rely on and she didn't want to fail, so she spent extra time on studying after class.

It had been a week since she also visited the private art galleries.

After classes, Liu Xiuying went to her apartment to take an afternoon nap before continuing studying. She was about to take her examinations, so she couldn't help feeling nervous.

In the evening, Qiao Liuli, her mother dropped by her apartment with some groceries. She cooked for her daughter and told her to continue studying when Liu Xiuying wanted to help her.

After eating, Qiao Liuli left the apartment.

Liu Xiuying stood in the kitchen, washing the dishes she and her mother used. Her phone vibrated. Liu Xiuying washed the foam off her hands, grabbed a kitchen towel to pat her hands dry.

She grabbed her phone and saw the unread messages from Dai Mao. The last one was, [Big sister,do you have time to come and play with me? I missed you so much~]

Liu Xiuying's heart warmed up when she saw the message. She remembered the little one's cute, chubby face and a smile appeared on her face.

She suddenly didn't have the mind to reject the little girl, however, she had exams to write and didn't want to fail. She replied, [Baby, big sister has an exam to write and will be a little busy. I'm so sorry]

[After your exams, will you come and visit me?]

[Sure. I promise]

[Good luck, big sister YingYing]

Liu Xiuying locked her phone after reading Dai Mao's message. She continued washing the dishes.

Two days to the exam.

Liu Xiuying was excited and at the same time nervous. She had studied enough, but she felt like she was still missing something. She had no friends in school and because the exam date was fast approaching, the lecturers became busier.

After 3 hours of revising, Liu Xiuying decided to take a break. She changed from her pajamas into a white thin knitted sweater and a long skirt.

The weather today was nice and warm. The sun was shining bright and when Liu Xiuying stepped out of her apartment, her normally fair skin became fairer that it almost looked transparent.

She waved down a taxi and entered the taxi.

There were a lot of people gathered at the entrance of a building. All of them were holding either LED sign boards or banners while constantly calling a certain celebrity's name.

Liu Xiuying walked through the crowd, trying her very best to leave the place as soon as possible. A girl rushed over and nearly knocked into Liu Xiuying, but she moved to the side to dodge the attack.

The next moment, a group of fangirls ran in a hurry into the space at her front and knocked into a tall man quite a few times.

Liu Xiuying's eyes widened. She reached out and grabbed the man's arm, saving him from falling. The man fell backwards into Liu Xiuying's arms.

Liu Xiuying lowered her head to look at him. The man was tall, slender and neat. In his long black trench coat, he gave off a refined and refreshing, yet ruffian aura. He was wearing a mask, so it was difficult to see his facial features, leaving only his phoenix eyes which were cold and sharp.

"Are you alright?" Liu Xiuying's voice was already drowned down by the noises of the fangirls, but it still sounded soft and cool.

The man straightened his body and nodded.

He turned his head to look at the scene behind him. With his height advance, he was able to see through the crowd. In the middle of the crowd was a female celebrity accompanied by bodyguards.

The man furrowed his brows and raised his hand to dust off his clothes, looking displeased. "Thanks" the man turned around and left.

Liu Xiuying raised a brow.

When Liu Xiuying returned home, the apartment was already pitch-black. She turned on the lights and changed into her slippers before she walked into the kitchen to drop the things she bought.

She was already tired to begin with and had no strength to cook. She opened the refrigerator and brought out the leftover dumplings and warmed them up. She ate it with a cup of yogurt before returning to her room.

Liu Xiuying was about to change her clothes when her phone rang. She looked at the callers ID and smiled, "Mom"

Qiao Liuli picked up the coat at the side, and wore it before leaving the hospital ward. "Have you eaten?"

Liu Xiuying sat on the chair and flipped through the pages of her textbook, "Yes, I just ate"

"That's good. I thought you haven't eaten and I wanted to go over to cook for you"

"I went out to buy groceries, so I can cook dinner," Liu Xiuying yawned as she stared at the textbook.

"You didn't sleep?"

"I did"

Liu Xiuying hadn't had a good sleep since she started preparing for her exams. Also, she could not possibly tell her mother that she hadn't been sleeping well. It would make Qiao Liuli more worried.

"What are you doing now? Leave whatever you are doing and rest a little, okay?"

Liu Xiuying wanted to refuse, but when she heard her mother's worried voice, she agreed. "How's dad?"

She hadn't had the chance to visit her dad in the hospital because of her upcoming exams and felt very worried especially now that her dad would have a surgery soon. Her mother had been the one taking good care of him and didn't have the time to rest also. If she refused to listen to her mom, she was only adding more to her problems.

The duo spoke for sometime before Liu Xiuying hung up the call. She was feeling tired, so she slept for a while.

When Liu Xiuying woke up,she heard some sounds coming from the kitchen and hurriedly walked out of the bedroom.

"YingYing, you are awake"
