Chapter 24 - Devastation

The onlookers were taken aback and surprised by the impressive display of power. They were at a loss for words and didn't expect such a sight.

"Who did that...?" some of the onlookers murmured in a confused tone.

It was an awe-inspiring performance.

"The aura it emitted was that of the Lord's," Mei Ling said as a smile formed on her fair complexion.

"So, it is indeed him?" Hei Bing, the black-haired girl inquired from behind.

Mei Ling affirmed her statement with a nod.

Intrigued by their conversation, Leonard Eldrid, a man with long golden hair, golden eyes and pointy ears dressed in a golden robe, approached the two women and respectfully asked, "Pardon me, but do you happen to know who was behind that incredible display of power?"

Both Mei Ling and Hei Bing nodded in response to Eldrid's question.

"Uh… Just a nod? At least tell me if you know!" He thought with an expression of helplessness and felt compelled to retort. But before he could do so, he felt shivers run down his spine.

At that moment, a sudden impact jolted everyone's attention.

All eyes turned to the distant point of impact, and there they saw a blurry figure shooting out from the roof of a faraway building, thrown high into the sky.

The figure was wrapped in black clothing, and its body seemed like wisps of smoke.

"Curses!" the dark figure exclaimed.

As it soared higher and higher, a figure appeared in its path of trajectory ahead of him. Zhang Yu had intercepted its trajectory.

"Not too fast…!" The dark figure bellowed in a deep voice.

Just at the moment of their collision, the black figure vanished.

With lightning-fast reflexes, he disappeared and reappeared behind the Admiral, attempting a sneak attack. However, his plan was thwarted as Zhang Yu caught his fist with ease.

"You're not skilled enough to get the jump on me," Zhang Yu remarked, a smile on his face.

In a single fluid motion, he clenched his fist with a vice-like grip and flung the dark figure towards the earth with a mighty blow that propelled him down with the velocity of a bolt of lightning.

The enigmatic figure shot down towards the ground, hurtling down like lightning.

Abruptly, a blur of motion yet again intercepted his trajectory, striking him with such ferocity that it produced shockwaves that reverberated through the air.

The strike created a shockwave that shattered nearby windows and caused buildings to quake as dust covered the area.

Emerging from the dissipating dust was Chang Jianhong, his countenance calm and collected.

With incomparable swiftness, he materialized in the dark figure's descent path, delivering a powerful blow in a fraction of a mini-second.

"Glad I arrived in time, for the consequences of his collision with the ground would have been dire," he reflected.

Demonstrating the deftness and precision of a master, he dealt a decisive blow to the black figure, propelling him towards the town's epicenter while minimizing the harm he could cause upon impact.

At breakneck speed, the dark, wispy figure careened towards the earth, slamming into the ground with unimaginable force.

The impact was so massive that it sent seismic shockwaves rippling throughout the area.

The strength of the collision was such that in a matter of moments, it carved out a colossal crater that spanned an astonishing five thousand feet in width and several tens of thousands feet deep in the heart of the town square, right beside the Grand Tower at the town's epicenter.

The entire vicinity was engulfed in a dense cloud of dust as countless particles from the impact soared high into the sky and descended throughout the town.

As the shockwaves reverberated throughout the town, several structures crumbled, and larger debris began raining down, transforming the once-quiet town into a scene of utter chaos.

The onlookers were left aghast as they witnessed the events unfold in a matter of seconds, not comprehending the gravity of what had occurred before their very eyes.

Reacting swiftly, Mei Ling and the others hurried towards the town square, organizing people to assist those affected by the calamitous occurrence.

The Town Square was enveloped in a thick, dome-shaped cloud of dust several thousands of feet large that extended well beyond its borders.

Struggling to his feet, the dark figure muttered, "Damn it," while trying to regain his composure. "I must get out of here as soon as possible! These people are too dangerous, and their movements are too agile!"

The damage inflicted on his vital organs were extensive, making his movements sluggish as he coughed up blood, staining his dark attire.

Disoriented and still reeling from the attack, he slowly levitated above the massive crater, surveying his surroundings warily. The thick cloud of dust made it nearly impossible for him to see anything.

Gradually, the thick veil of dust began to dissipate, as a fierce windstorm swept through the area with tremendous force.

In the next instant, 2 figures, draped in pristine white robes, materialized above the damaged buildings surrounding the town square, forming an impregnable barrier that enclosed the area.

As the winds subsided and the dust cloud cleared, the dark figure's eyes fell upon the 2 figures, and his heart sank.

"Who...who are these unknown people?" he stammered in fear. "How can they be so… so…!" His thoughts were in disarray, and he was shaken to the core as he wracked in pain.
