Chapter Fifteen: Unrest
The remaining teams which didn't go to MythVille Woods, remained in the city. Every Arcane Guard of the Arcane Safety Department and sorcerer of the Hands Of Arcane paraded the whole city, keeping watch. Several bulwarks were put up by the Arcane Guards and sorcerers to protect the city for extraterrestrial attacks.
It was in the late hours of the morning when the day was usually bustling with activities of great immensity. During this hour of the day, people were usually busy and didn't even have time for themselves. When the people saw the Arcane Guards and sorcerers moving about, they feared something was actually wrong. It was a normal thing for Arcane Guards to move about as they were the ones in charge of enforcing law and combating crimes in the city. But even at that, the number of Arcane Guards on the streets was usually sparse and not characterized by a prodigious immensity. There were so many Arcane Guards that every nook and cranny of the city was inhabited by them. Not only the Arcane Guards were seen but the sorcerers as well. And to think sorcerers didn't normally flood the streets made them feel something was going wrong. It meant a storm was brewing!
Boom!
Just then, everyone heard the sound of thunder as runes appeared in the sky, joining together to form a large hole. From the hole, torrents of lightning fell down into the city but did not destroy anything. It was as if the city existed in another world and not the same world where the torrents of lightning were pouring down.
The Arcane Guards and sorcerers looked up at the sky, wearing thoughtful expressions.
"To think a storm is about to brew makes me fear for the safety of the city," one of the sorcerers said to his comrade. His hair was white and his eyes green.
The Arcane Guard close to him replied, "I don't even think only this city would be in danger. I fear the whole world is going to be affected."
"All this for the Book Of Mysteries," the sorcerer shook his head. "What was Walter thinking when he was stealing the Book?"
"I heard he escaped under the noses of two Array six sorcerers who had attacked him," the Arcane Guard said, narrowing his brown eyes.
"I heard too," the sorcerer nodded in affirmation. "It was said he broke through Array six magical circles and got the Book Of Mysteries anyway—the same Book no current sorcerer had dared to touch. Not even the current Array ten sorcerers have come in contact with the Book."
"Everything is becoming mysterious," the Arcane Guard said. "First he broke through the Array six magical circles and then escaped an Array six attack! He escaped the Blessing of Hellenes!"
The Blessing of Hellenes was one of the most powerful spells in existence. While drawing power from the Goddess, the user could as well block out every other power. Once this spell was activated, no target could escape as he or her power would immediately be negated and rendered useless. It was a very frightening spell and those who heard Walter escaped from this same spell had the right to be amazed. This was the same spell that draws power from the Goddess and for Walter to be able to escape the spell meant two probabilities. The first one was that he was equally as powerful as the Goddess and the second one was that he had a Mysterious Existence who was equally as powerful as the Goddess backing him. Any Mysterious Existence apart from the Goddess was considered evil and the most powerful of these evil beings was the Evil Eye. This was the only being who had the power to contend with the Goddess and was no doubt the one backing Walter.
The first probability was highly improbable because if Walter was equally as powerful as the Goddess, he wouldn't have even gone through the whole trouble. In fact, his place shouldn't have been among the humans here as he would have been a Deity. Deities do no roam around in cities, stealing powerful artefacts from museums when They were in fact infinitely powerful than anything which exist in the infinite cosmos!
The second probability was highly probable. There were people who had the backing of Mysterious Existences in this world but they were very few. Two of such sets of people were the Destined One and Fated One. The former had the backing of the Goddess while the latter had the backing of Evil Eye. It was believed those who had the backing of Mysterious Existences must have been specially selected by them and chosen for various purposes which were still unknown till date.
"We wouldn't have been in such a big mess if Walter hadn't stolen that Book," the sorcerer continued. "And to think everything happened when the Array ten sorcerers left!"
High Array sorcerers usually travelled through the infinite cosmos, trying to solve the mysteries surrounding realities. Their journeys through the infinite cosmos usually lasted for decades, centuries and even millennia!
It had been two years since the current Array ten sorcerers left for their journey through the infinite cosmos. Currently, the whole country was headed by an Array nine sorcerer and other Array nines who served as members of the Parliament. Even at that, the current sorcerers were not stable as they usually travelled out of the world to solve several mysteries surrounding the infinite cosmos. It seemed every High Array sorcerer had this character in him.
If not for the Arcane Safety Department whose head, Damien Hastle was still around and the Hands Of Arcane, whose head was also still around, the Arcane Guards and sorcerers would have immediately lost hope. They would have given up and succumbed to the forces of evil.
"I just think everything was planned till this moment," the Arcane Guard said. "Almost all the High Array sorcerers are all gone."
"It's normal for them to leave," the sorcerer said. "When one steps into the High Array, he would undergo changes in his existence and become very powerful. An Array eight sorcerer is already star level and as such exudes powerful auras. If he stays in this fragile world for too long, he would risk destroying it. So it's normal for them to leave to other dimensions. For the High Array sorcerers who are still around, it's because they are existing in the bodies of mere mortals and not in their real bodies."
The Arcane Guard feeling very enlightened could not help but say, "Wow."
In this world, every single thing was a mystery. Every event hid under the former event, appearing as mysteries upon mysteries. No wonder everyone was trying to solve these mysteries.
They were still talking when the whole city began shaking violently, puffs of dust rising into the air.
Without waiting to know what was happening, they all rushed to the inhabitants of the city, moving everyone from the chaos.
There was a place called the Home of Fortitude in the city. It was said to have been built by ancient sorcerers thousand years ago. This place was a demi-plane and could protect people from all kinds of hazards. Now that there was an earthquake, the best place to send the people to was the Home of Fortitude.
The Arcane Guards and sorcerers began moving helter skelter, teleporting everyone to the Home of Fortitude.
Rumble!
The ground continued shaking, puffs of dust rising into the air. These puffs of dust rose high into the air, making the sky very dark. Accompanying these puffs of dust which filled the atmosphere, there were also black mists rising out of the ground. These mists soared straight into the clouds, blackening them. As a result of this, the whole sky become darker than before, the clouds blocking the sunlight.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Several cracking sounds occured all over the city, specks of blackness appearing immediately.
"Oh no," everyone who saw the cracks had the same expression. The dimensional fabric had weakened and several portals to different dimensions were already opening.
Without waiting to be given orders, the Arcane Guards and sorcerers kicked into action, closing the portals. But with each portal they closed, there were many yet which expanded in the air!
~
All over the whole country, portals were seen opening. These portals were so black that the dark sky seemed to be bright when compared to them.
The Arcane Guards and sorcerers all over the country felt evil auras coming out of the portals. It was like nothing they had ever seen before. Several extraterrestrial beings were seizing the chance to descend into the real world!
They all tried closing the portal but everything ended in futility. The more they closed the portals, the more the portals appeared and at the end, the whole country was brimming with countless portals!

Office of the Head Sorcerer,
Hands Of Arcane, MythVille.
A man stood, facing the window. This office was located on the last floor of the one hundred storey building, overlooking the whole urbs and suburbs.
The man had a white hair and sea blue eyes which were as deep as the sea itself, turbulent and filled with turmoil. He was dressed in a white robe, exuding a powerful aura. Although this powerful aura was powerful enough to instantly petrify one's soul, it was also filled with calmness and sacredness. The aura that was exuded from this man fluctuated between being powerful, calm and sacred.
This was Andrew Walls, the Head Sorcerer of the Hands Of Arcane. He was an Array eight, Grand Prince of the School of Theurgy.
"To think that countless extraterrestrial beings are seizing this chance to come into this world makes me feel bad for them," Andrew Walls said, still looking at the commotion.
Not only could he see the whole of the city, he could see the whole country as well! He was seeing every single thing in the whole country!
He then sighed, "Evil Eye will not rest till this world is destroyed."
He took a step forward, transforming into countless spectral creatures before vanishing out of the office.
~
Office of the Arcane Safety Head,
Arcane Safety Department.
Damien Hastle's blue eyes narrowed as they looked at the whole commotion. He wasn't the least bit worried as he felt he could handle everything.
But then he sighed, "To think my enemy would definitely use this chance to descend to this world makes me awed at how persevering he is."
A ball of white light swirled around him, filling the whole office with brightness. Then the light dimmed and then cleared to reveal the empty office. Damien was gone.

An unknown Church
In the Church stood the Bishop and seven Priests on the altar, his eyes as dark as night. His expression was solemn as he stared at empty space.
The seven Priest held incenses in their hands which filled the whole surrounding with sacredness.
Then the Bishop said, "From the begining, the Kingdom of the Goddess suffered violence but violence had always been suppressed."
The seven Priests didn't say anything as they continued holding the incenses with the calmest expressions as if there was no trouble in this world.
"But in all times, the Goddess shows Mercy," the Bishop chanted.
"She shows us Mercy," the seven Priests repeated.

An unknown place
In the dark place, a figure sat. In the dark environment, the figure's face was indescribable. It was as it blended with the darkness.
Then it said in a deep voice, "Evil forces have once again tried to beseech the Earth."
With each word it said, there was a gust of powerful auras seeping out of its mouth, accompanying the words it said.
"Evil must surely exist but the Knyghts of God won't allow it to persevere. It must be uprooted."
Then there was silence. It was unknown whether the figure was contemplating about how to go about uprooting the evil or how to deal with the countless portals that had opened.
But then there was one thing that rang in the heads of everyone: Evil had returned.
