Tobias is an actual flirt, he is slick but flirtatious nonetheless.
Weird that Ethera never mentioned this side of him.
Speaking of Ethera I wonder how she is holding up , I mean I know Sheila is there to help and guide her but like how is she handling my classes for example? I am scared she is going to mess up my grades , I can't afford to fail history and so I hope for me that professor Gary doesn't give any tests while I am not around .
And the Eric situation! Damn , how is she going to handle that? Right now him and I are not in a good place and he seems to have a fling with Lore which I still don't understand how but honestly I prefer not to care because if I do it's going to hurt and I don't want that emotion right now , this was one of the reasons I didn't want anything more than friendship with him. I don't want to feel replaced ever again not after Lucas.
If you asked me my feelings for Eric I would say complicated. I don't know what to say, there is something but that something is a threat to me.
Anyways Tobias and I finished our little walk , it was calming and nice to just spend time goofing around a little before going back to being all serious for royal stuff. I am still not used to it but luckily Tobias is pretty chill with me and so I don't feel like I have to act stiff all the time. Honestly props to Ethera and all the girls here who manage to pull all this off.
Right now we are at the cremating ceremony for the two lady consorts who died yesterday.
It is quite intimate, only the king, Queen and the rest of the wives plus me are here , of course with a priest who is leading the ceremony.
The Queen is over there crying her eyes out but I know it is all fake as all she wants is to have Tobias's attention which she gets of course.
She keeps clinging onto him like a leech , the other wives also try to get to him and have a dose of comforting from their dear husband , he obliges of course , it is his duty as husband.
As for me I am just looking at the show they are pulling in front of their fellow sisters who are dead.
Like can't they restrain themselves from being attention deprived for one second? Just as form of respect for the dead in this situation.
Even I who didn't have a close relationship with those girls feel the need to be serious and take this ceremony to heart, it seems my fellow wives can't relate as all they can see in this is an opportunity to steal Tobias's attention and be the favorite.
So childish.
But you know having gone through high school in the United States I have had my fair share of childish people so meh.
"Lady Ethera it's your turn to say your wishes" The priest says as I focus again on what is going on.
I walk up to the laying place of the bodies and wish them a safe transition to the other side and all the best in their eternal rest then I place my flowers on them as everyone else did.
After everyone had their turn it was time to burn the bodies. Tobias was the one who had to do it as tradition demands that apparently the husband should be the one to burn his wife and this was a sign of him sending them off with love.
Which in this situation it is kind of hypocritical considering there is no love in all this polygamous marriage thing, as of what Ethera told me and just from my sources , in medieval times it was rare that married couples were in love as they were forced into marriage and saw it as accomplishing their duties to their parents who raised them. Talk about a sad love life and I am here complaining about mine. I have it way easier than these folks.
The next day…
So yesterday after the funeral ceremony we all pretty much just went back to our cribs / quarters for the rest of the day.
And so today I decided to go start the damn investigation and search for that annoying cousin of mine and unfortunately for me she works at the Queen's place which I don't want to go to because I don't want to deal with an insecure drama queen , quite literally.
So the plan is that I am going to sneak in . Yes you heard me alright, I am sneaking inside the Queen's private house to search for my cousin.
I am becoming more and more adventurous and fearless it seems. If I get caught I am dead meat, she will definitely make an accusing story up to incriminate me which will dirty Ethera's name and I will not let that happen so I have to play it safe .
Luckily for me I am used to sneaking in and out of places , a typical teenage skill you learn and now it is coming in handy.
I wore Normal regular clothes just because I don't want to risk getting caught wearing a suspicious all black outfit and also Ethera doesn't have such clothing in her closet so I am just going with this long flower dress.
Luckily for me Heizel knew of a secret passage to the corridor inside so I used that and escaped the guards and Eunuchs who would have insisted on announcing me to the Queen.
I am now walking around looking left right center for the maid section and of course avoiding to be seen.
As I am walking kind of backwards I bump into someone from behind and immediately turn around in panic that I have been discovered.
Shocker it is Helton , Tobias's advisor. What is he doing here?
"Oh lady Ethera fancy seeing you here. Why weren't you announced?" He asks looking at me weird.
"Uh I just arrived and told them not to bother, I didn't want to disturb the Queen" I say in a hurry without thinking. His stare is making me nervous , it's like he can read my soul. The man is one creepy lad for sure.
"Aren't you here to see her majesty? That kind of defeats what you just said about not disturbing" he said raising an eyebrow and still keeping that weird look.
I just fake smile and say that I am just silly , once I try moving away and excusing myself he grabs my arm and looks at me,
"Just be careful young lady, wouldn't want you to get caught on your adventure would we?" I look at him with wide eyes. How does he-
And what does he mean? Does he know about me not being me? I mean the look in his eyes make it as though he knows what I am up to.
He just smirks at me and leaves me there dumbfounded.
I am starting to believe the reports stated about him in history.
But it can't be right? He can't be an actual-
