Ethera's pov;
I am currently in history class. This is Avery's main course, she tells me about it all the time so I know this class is very important to her.
I know the basic things this class requires but I am just hoping we don't get any form of quizzes because I do not wish to mess up Avery's scores in class.
I just have to get through her lectures and record them as suggested by Sheila to make it easier for me and plus it will help Avery revise easier when she comes back and so she can write her notes however she wants after following the lecture through the recording.
"Okay , who can tell me in brief the background story of the rise of Queen Sheba?" The professor asks.
Queen Sheba? I know her , well not personally but she is an important female figure taught to us from an early age. Her adventures were narrated to us constantly and she is seen as a role model to many young ladies including myself.
I raise up my hand to answer the question excited to share my knowledge on this.
Maybe I can get extra points for Avery thanks to this as well.
"Avery , go ahead" he says.
And so I start explaining how she was born and where, her childhood and all the difficulties she faced from a young age and how she was a hero to her people for she was a smart young lady who grew up to be a great conqueror and respected woman in her region and beyond.
The class claps for me once I am done and the professor seems proud as well.
He then awards me extra marks for that , I am sure those will be helpful to Avery. I am glad.
Class ends successfully without any problems on my end, I got to speak to a few people who are acquaintances of Avery. Really sweet people , I had a few guys making weird and inappropriate comments about my body and even about other ladies too. These guys are really not respectful at all. I almost went up to them to give them a lecture but then I figured this was normal here when I saw the other ladies just ignoring them and walking past , I don't think it is fine but then I am not Ethera right now and I am not in Alba so I can't act like a conservative person.
*sigh This version of life is really getting more and more bizarre.
So far though I have been enjoying the views in New York . The tall buildings , the busy streets with an immense amount of cars and other vehicles I have yet to learn the names. It's just different from the calm environment I am used to and the ever green lands and small cottages.
It is now evening and I am in the metro which is like a train type of thing here , I am with Sheila because she finished her classes at the same time with me and also she had to come with me since it is my first time using this mode of transport.
"You good? You look like you could use fresh air" Sheila says rubbing my back.
"I kind of feel nauseated because of the movements and plus it has been a long ride" I reply trying to hold it in.
"Yeah I get it , plus the smell in here is never cute. I bet the royal carriages smell something like roses" she says chuckling.
"I mean you could say that . It just has a lot of air entering through the windows so it just smells fresh" I say remembering the nice rides in carriages just looking at the country side and enjoying nature.
"I miss it" I say sighing.
She looks at me sympathetically and says "I know"
We reach home a few minutes later and I start getting ready to go out with Eric , which he hasn't told me where we are going or what we are doing.
Sheila keeps saying it is a date and if it really is a date I am in trouble because I will not know how to act. I do not want to cross any boundaries with him because he is the potential love of the life of my friend , if that makes sense.
I know she is also facing the same situation with the king because we have grown close and I know the time for us to consummate the marriage is almost there, I just hope I can go back in time for that. I do not want to put Avery in a difficult position.
"Sheila!" I yell from Avery's room.
She comes in immediately and asks what I need.
"I need help with what I should wear. I am not accustomed to Avery's style nor do I know what ladies in this generation wear on date" I say in desperation. From what I have seen out there, girls barely wear anything and it is concerning, I just hope I don't have to dress that way any time soon.
"I think this outfit will fit the vibe perfectly" Sheila shows me a pair of interesting pants with flowers on them with a blouse and another layer I don't know the name of.
I look at her waiting for her to explain further.
"Oh right let me explain. So these are oversized jeans with these two big flower graphics on them plus a raised collar white top and because of the cold you need this cropped puffed brown jacket" This looks nice plus it covers up a lot. I am still not used to wearing pants since these are mostly for men in our society.
"I like this" I say after trying the outfit on.
"You look fabulous girl. Oh and for shoes I guess you can wear heels , right?" I nod , I wear raised shoes all the time back home.
"The outfit is complete so I guess you can go now. Now I know this is awkward for you to go on a date for Avery but just have fun and get information for her , like if Eric likes likes her and if he has plans for them in the future type of questions" I nod and I get a text from Avery's phone, interesting device by the way.
"Eric says he is here. Wish me luck" I bid her good bye and I go outside to meet Eric by his car.
Eric takes me to a restaurant by a beach, I have never been to a beach before, back in Alba I never travelled so I never got to see such views which I am sure we have somewhere.
"This place is beautiful" I say looking around.
"It really is huh? Plus really relaxing and chill so I figured it would be perfect vibes for an evening with my best friend" he says smiling with his eyes which I find cute.
He pulls the chair for me and we settle down at our table.
"How was your day? Anymore A's to slap me in the face with?" He asks laughing.
I guess Avery likes bragging about her grades , she should , she is really smart.
"No, not today. You are lucky , today was really nice , we had a lecture on Queen Sheba and it was so interesting to learn about such a strong woman" I explain reminiscing the class. I will cherish that memory forever, that was for sure the highlight of this whole New York experience so far.
"Queen Sheba huh? I guess that adds up to the number of people you like before me. More competition I guess" he jokes again.
I laugh at this because he makes the environment not formal at all , it is like he is trying to reduce the pressure one can have during a date if this is even one.
"You are really too silly sometimes, I can't" I say laughing some more.
He comes forward and says "And I will continue being so as long as it makes you laugh like that"
I almost choke on my drink , this man. He really reminds me of the king and his flirtatious ways.
How I miss him.
I look back at Eric and push him back , he laughs at my flustered face, only that it is not because of him but rather the memories he is reminding me of.
"Oh by the way Avery, this is not a date. The day I do bring you on a date I will make sure to make it official first" he says slightly smirking.
Oh Avery you are not ready for what this man has in store for you.
