Mike woke to the smell of coffee and bacon. Amelia was down in the kitchen humming away while making breakfast. Sophie and Emily sat at the dining table playing with Barbie dolls. "Are you heading to the employment agency today?" Amelia asked Mike. Back in London Mike was a psychologist for Mater Hospital, top of his department. He had left his position at the prestige hospital to move his wife and daughters to their new home in Australia. It had been a tough year especially for Amelia who had been pregnant but sadly miscarried a baby boy who they named Emanuel. After the funeral they had decided a fresh start was what they needed. The warm weather and beaches in Australia had drawn them to look at the old two story home up for sale. Mike hoped the new start would help his wife and daughters to find some happiness again. "Yeah, I'm heading in this morning to see Jacquie. She thinks she's found the perfect position for me". Mike sat at the table and picked up the newspaper. The same old headlines framed the pages as he flicked through it.
Suddenly Mike heard music coming from the Neighbours house. The music was like the music he heard in Sophie and Emily's jewlerly boxes they got for Christmas last year but the music he heard now was slower and eerie. As he stood up to look out the kitchen window the music stopped. He looked into Jack's backyard to see a little girl with a long white flowing dress go in the back door. Jack must have children he thought to himself and wondered if the little girl may be friends with his daughters. It would be nice for them to make some friends here. He should go over to Jack's later for that drink he offered but right now he needed to get to the employment agency before he missed his appointment with Jacquie. He picked up his keys and kissed Amelia and the girls goodbye and headed off.
