Luna Melody and Allison kept the conversation going on in the backseat of their SUV. They were hoping that Alisha would join in but she kept silent the whole time. She looked like she had seen a ghost and they were afraid that she would not be able to enjoy the Luna ceremony like she was supposed to, tomorrow.
Debra looked at Alisha through the mirror in the visor and mindlinked Luna Melody "Shall I ask the Alphas to meet us in front of the packhouse? I feel that Luna Alisha may only snap out of her gloom if she sees her mates."
Luna Melody nodded her head imperceptibly and continued talking to Allison about the upcoming Luna ceremony and what they were all going to wear.
Luna Melody suddenly stopped talking as she realised that Samuel had started driving very fast "What is the matter, Samuel? Why are we going so fast?" she called out to him as she saw him clench his teeth and furrow his eyebrows.
Samuel suddenly swerved causing Allison to bump her head on Luna Melody's shoulder. "Samuel! What the heck are you doing?" she yelled as she rubbed head.
"Hold on tight! We have someone following us. Is everyone strapped in? I am going to try and lose them" shouted Samuel as he pressed the accelerator pedal with all his might. This made the SUV jump forward and speed down the lonely road that they were driving on.
The nondescript car that was following them since they left the shopping mall ten minutes ago started accelerating as well. It inched forward, initially bumping them from the back. The car then revved its engine, as it hit them again, this time trying to swerve into them as they sped down the road.
Samuel swore as he swerved trying to avoid the oncoming crash. Luna Melody turned to make sure everyone had their seatbelts on. She held on tightly to the handrail next to her head as she felt the SUV shudder and rock to the right side as the car behind them closed in and hit them again. Samuel roared as he felt them skid to the right. He yanked the steering wheel to the left. He fought to keep the wheels from locking and skidding as the SUV swerved off the road unto the untarred area beside the road, the tyres making deep grooves in the sand. Samuel gasped as he saw the car reverse and speed towards them again. The car pummeled into the SUV so hard that it rose into the air and slammed back down, jarring everyone in it. The car tyres whirred loudly as it pushed the SUV towards the sandy embankment.
The women in the back screamed in terror as the SUV tilted precariously." They are going to force us to roll! HOLD ON!" shouted Samuel as the car hit the SUV again making it flip and roll down the embankment
The rear windshield exploded as the SUV turned turtle several times until it landed on its side. The shards of glass flew across the cabin to scrape Allison and Luna Melody on their face and arms. As the SUV stopped rolling, Alisha seat belt tore open and she was thrown from the back passenger seat to the front. Alisha's scream was muffled as she hit the side of the door and lost consciousness. She laid across Luna Melody who was also unconscious but still anchored to her chair.
Allison was also caught in her seatbelt. She felt the clasp dig into her right thigh as she hung from her chair. She moaned in pain as she saw the bone of her left thigh protruding out of her pants. Blood flowed out of the fractured bone end drenching her pant leg quickly. Allison knew that she would die of blood loss if she didn't do something to stop the bleeding quickly. She pulled off her shirt and pushed it firmly onto the fracture site. She was unable to push the bone back but she managed to staunch the blood flow by trying her shirt around it. Allison called out to Debra and Samuel, who was in the front seat, hoping that they were still alive.
Debra clung to her seatbelt as she was thrown side to side with the rolling of the SUV. She realised that she was hanging from her chair as the SUV landed on the driver's side." Allison! Oh thank the Goddess your alive! Just hold on for a bit...I will come and help you" she said.
Debra called out for Samuel who was under her lying trapped between the steering wheel and the seat"Samuel! Are you okay?! Talk to me!Samuel!" she shouted as she clawed desperately at her seatbelt. She heard the click of the release before she tumbled onto Samuel, falling directly onto his warm, hard body. She smiled as she heard Samuel groan. HE WAS ALIVE!
Debra put her foot into the slots of the steering wheel trying to find a purchase which she could use to haul herself up. She swiped her forehead and winced as her fingers came back bloody. She pulled her hair back to see herself in the front mirror. There were multiple abrasions on her face with a small but deep laceration on her left side of the forehead. She could feel a knot forming under her skin over her forehead." Ooh! That's gonna hurt like hell tomorrow" she murmured to herself.
Suddenly, there was a loud creaking noise was heard. It was the sound of the passenger door being pried open. Debra recognised their smell. It was the wolves that had made a scene at the food court just now." THEY WERE THE ONES THAT WERE FOLLOWING THEM! Oh My Goddess! They were after Luna Alisha!" she thought becoming frantic. She looked down towards Samuel who was still wedged in under her.
"Samuel! Samuel! Wake up! It's those wolves from the food court. They are after Luna Alisha! Samuel! Wake up!" she whispered urgently as she heard the wolves talking as they cranked the door open.
" Is she dead?! Alpha Thomas will not be very happy to hear that! He wanted to do the honours himself" snickered one of the wolves evilly. Debra saw the wolf trying to reach inside where both the Lunas and Allison had been sitting. He couldn't pull Alisha out as Allison was still in his way. He grunted as he pushed himself up again. Suddenly a loud metallic screech rang out as he pulled the door off its hinges.
"That should do it! Come on...Give me a hand Kevin! I need to pull the bitch out" he snarled, throwing the door to the ground.
Debra saw two hands come through the opened door and pull at the women in the passenger seat. Allison cried out in pain as the hands roughly pushed her to the side. They caught hold of Alisha's arms and pulled her out as if she was a rag doll. Alison caught hold of Alisha's waist as they pulled her out."Leave Luna Alisha alone! You sick pieces of shit!" she shouted angrily
"Let her go bitch!" screamed the wolf in frustration. The wolf called Kevin let Alisha go as he shoved his foot down the opening to stamp on Allison's face. Allison screamed as his foot crunched down on her nose and cheek." I told you to let go bitch! Maybe next time you will listen"he laughed as he helped his friend haul the unconscious Alisha out of the car.
Debra looked back in horror as Alisha's legs disappeared through the door opening. She turned around and saw Samuel slowing opening his eyes." They got Luna Alisha! We were supposed to protect her, Samuel! They have her!" she cried as she saw Samuel's eyes glazed over. He knew that he needed help so he mindlinked the Alphas, telling them what happened and asking them to come quickly as he didn't know how much longer Sean and his friend would remain here now that they got Luna Alisha in their grasps.
"I will try and delay them. Tell the Alphas to come quickly!"Debra pushed herself off Samuel and jumped into the middle passenger seat. She sidestepped Allison who was holding her face in pain "I am sorry Alison! I have to stop them from taking Luna Alisha" she quickly scrambled passed Allison through the mangled opening of the passenger door.
"Debra!! Wait for me! Don't go alone!Debra!"Samuel shouted as he tried to unwedge himself and follow her. He screamed in frustration as he realised that he couldn't move. He was trapped between the mangled chair and steering wheel that had broken and pierced through his shoulder. Samuel couldn't even shift into his wolf as it had been weakened by the blood loss. Hearing Samuel scream, Debra squatted and push her head through the door opening and called to him"I love you, Samuel! Tell the Alphas that I will keep them here as long as I possibly can!"With that, Debra stood up and jumped off the SUV onto the ground
" Hei!You there...Arseholes!!Leave my Luna alone!" she yelled at the three wolves who were dragging Alisha towards their car. Debra knew that the only way she could reach them on time was to change into her wolf. She shifted into Xena, her wolf, tearing her clothes into pieces. Xena hurled herself towards the assailants. She snarled as she jumped on the nearest man's back, biting him on the back of his neck, tearing through his clothes and the muscles on his back. Xena's teeth clamped deeper reaching his blood vessels. She shook her head viciously tearing more muscles in the process. The man let go of Alisha and helplessly flailed about like a rag doll in a rabid dog's mouth. Xena said a quick prayer to the Moon Goddess that she had weakened him quickly, not letting him shift into his wolf.
Sean's eyes dilated in fear as he saw his friend struggling to escape the maniacal grip which the female wolf had got on his friend's neck. His wolf growled and launched himself onto her. His powerful jaws sliced through her forehead as his sharp canine punctured Xena's eyeball and tore at the muscles of her jaw
Xena knew that she couldn't hold on much longer so with a mighty crunch, she fatally bit the man's neck again slicing through his carotids. He howled as his lifeblood gushed through his fingers and drenched the ground.
Xena growled as she turned towards the brown wolf who was staring at her. Her menacing wolf grin was more pronounced as her empty eye socket and jagged piece of skin and muscle flapped with every growl. It caused Sean's heart to skip a beat as knew the only way he was going to leave was if he killed the wolf in front of him. Xena knew that this was her final stand. She just hoped that the Alphas would get here soon as she was not going to be able to hold them off any longer. She turned to look towards the SUV in the distance. Her sharp wolf-hearing heard Samuel scream in despair as he saw the love of his life sacrifice herself to prevent the kidnapping of their Luna.
Xena reared onto her back legs and lunged at the brown wolf with the last of her energy. He tried to dodge her sharp canines which were aimed at his neck and turned to swing his upturned paws towards Xena's head. His elongated massive claws struck the side of Xena's face breaking her facial bones. Blood spurted out of her mouth and nose as she screamed in pain. Sean's wolf zeroed in on her neck as he ravaged through the muscle of the neck. He shook his head vehemently and spat out chunks of Xena's flesh onto the ground. He then threw Xena into the air like a little leaf in the wind and pounced on her falling body as it crumpled onto the ground with a resounding thud breaking her arms and pelvis in the process.
Xena couldn't hold her wolf form anymore as she laid on the hard ground. Beaten and battered, Xena withdrew from Debra's consciousness leaving the gasping girl to face Sean and his wolf.
The brown wolf sniffed Debra's body and then turned to walk back towards the car. He shifted back to his human form and quickly put on a pair of shorts he kept in the car for times like this. He then helped Kevin push the unconscious Alisha into the car and banged the door closed. Kevin. pulled Alisha's hands behind her back to handcuff them in place. He then tore off a large piece of black tape and stretched it over Alisha's mouth effectively preventing her from screaming for help
Sean turned to see Debra crawling her way toward the car, pulling her broken body forward as her blood trailed in pools behind her, she knew that she needed to delay Sean and his friend's getaway so that Alpha Mitchell and Alpha Markian could get here. She knew that Samuel had already told them what had happened and they would surely be close by.
"Stop young wolf! You have protected this worthless Luna of yours already. I told you that she was going to be the death of your pack. You will be the first to feel the wrath of bastardizing our wolf lines." growled Sean as he stamped on her already battered back. Debra gasped as the weight of Sean's foot pushed all the air out of her lungs. Sean laughed when he saw that she was valiantly trying to breathe so he lifted his foot for a second and grounded it back down viciously. Debra felt a sharp unimaginable pain as her ribs broke and punctured her heart. Blood flooded her mouth and nose as she coughed and breathed her last breath.
A long mournful howl ripped through the air as Samuel felt his mate bond with Debra break. He tried again to pull himself away from the broken steering wheel but didn't have the energy to. He knew that she was gone as he looked through the splintered windscreen of the SUV. Seeing her fight for her last dying breath as Sean laughed above her, broke Samuel's heart. His eyes blurred as tears trailed down his face. He vowed to find Sean and kill him to avenge the love of his life as he howled again in anguish.
Sean heard the howls of despair coming from the upturned SUV as he climbed into the driver seat of his car and started the engine. He looked back at the broken wolf on the side of the road and spat on the ground she was laying on. He grinned evilly at the crumpled body of the young female wolf as he knew that the mournful howls could only be coming from her mate.
As he reversed, the front bumper of the car, which had been hanging drunkenly by its last screws after the first collision with the SUV, dropped on the road. Sean didn't look back in his rearview mirror, so he didn't realise that the bumper remained on the road.
He turned back to the passenger seat and licked his lips lasciviously, imagining all the atrocious things that Alpha Thomas was going to do to this human. He refused to call Alisha a wolf, as he didn't think a lowly human deserved to have a wolf inside them. He mindlinked Alpha Thomas"I have great news, Alpha. Do you remember we found a few children's clothes in Beta Lawrence's house? Well...I found her! After all these years!!Yes! I am bringing her back to the pack so we can make sure we kill her before she taints our bloodlines again!" He smiled at Kevin and sped towards the Black Raven pack knowing that his Alpha was pleased with him.
