Chereads / CANINES : The True Alpha / Chapter 9 - The Madness

Chapter 9 - The Madness

Rasya stumbled and almost fell with her face kissing the ground if Nakula didn't pull her and lift her to carry Rasya.

They run again.

Rasya tightly hugged Nakula's neck. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest. What creature had she seen earlier? Rasya cursed because she couldn't see clearly. The fog covered the view.

They kept running aimlessly, hitting something which made Nakula and Rasya fall to the ground. Rasya had thought of the worst-case scenario that the creature had stopped them until she heard her friend's soft voice.

"Rasya? Nakula?"

Rasya widened her eyes in shock, but her body felt like it was hit, making her fall back down. Lee Hema hugged her tightly.

"Gosh, Rasya! We were looking for you everywhere! You suddenly weren't behind us and..." Hema stopped giggling and hugged Rasya again, her body shaking. She was really afraid that something would happen to her lifelong best friend.

"Where have you been? We are very worried," Sadewa helped his brother to get up.

"Guys, I don't think there's time to talk. We must go now—"

A scream interrupted Nakula's sentence.

Nakula took a breath and looked at Rasya, then Nakula and Rasya pulled Sadewa and Hema running fast. They ran at full speed.

"Wait, hold on, guys! Why are we running—"

But no one answered Hema's broken words. Sadewa because he didn't understand either, but Rasya and Nakula just kept silent, busy pushing their legs.

"Guys—"

But Hema stumbled, luckily caught by Sadewa and Nakula, and they ran back.

In about a few minutes, which seemed like a million years, they arrived at a giant tree that was the tallest towering among the trees. Rasya gasped and leaned against the big tree. Hema followed. Sadewa crouched down, and Nakula dropped his buttocks and stretched out. Their breaths caught, and warm steam rose from each other's lips.

"Seriously," inhale, "why we—" exhale, "why we running...again?" Hema gasped between her sentences.

A threatening growl.

The four of them froze. Hema's eyes bulged, Rasya banged her back against a tree trunk, Sadewa and Nakula immediately straightened up, and the four pressed themselves together. Too tired to run. And they didn't care if their sweat and breath hit each other.

"G-guys...-"

Then a very loud howl was heard, and the four pressed themselves closer together. Rasya had grabbed Hema and Nakula's arms.

Before they could run again, the creature leapt up and stood a few inches in front of them, blocking their path to leave. His red eyes lit up, and his body was slightly bent, thick fur covering his back and chest. The creature stood on two legs, its long, pointed claws glistening in the moonlight. The ears that stood up straight dropped slightly. And most terrifyingly, its snout was clenched in front of them but could not hide its sharp fangs with drooling.

Their breaths hitched, and their hearts beat fast. Fear was imprinted on their sweaty faces.

"AHHH!!!"

The four of them screamed at the presence of this creature, and this creature pulled Rasya, who was close to the tree. Throwing her in front of them and hitting a tree trunk so hard it fell with blood running down her head. She fainted for a moment.

"RASYA!"

Hema glared in horror, and tears welled up when she saw her unconscious friend, but her screams drowned when the creature grabbed her legs and dragged her away from Sadewa and Nakula.

"HEMA!"

Sadewa and Nakula jumped to grab Hema's hands. Hema screamed for help with tears already flowing. However, the creature turned around with lightning speed, and its claws sank into Nakula's shoulder, making it scream in pain, and it was Sadewa who screamed and tried to kick the creature.

The creature released its claws that had sunk deep into Nakula's shoulder and threw Nakula a few meters behind them. Fresh blood dripped from his shoulder, and Nakula's eyes closed instantly.

Sadewa turned his head in horror to see his brother. His tears welled up, and he tried to pull Hema out of the creature's grip, but the beast had already broken Hema's leg and threw her across. Hema fainted for a moment.

Sadewa fell to the ground and immediately moved backwards. Unfortunately, his body hit a large trunk, making him trapped and unable to escape.

The creature was standing right above him.

Sadewa's heart was pounding, and his hands and feet were shaking because of the fear surrounding him. He turned to the other three, and his tears flowed. Sadewa wanted to cry. Will this be the end for him?

How did their camp go wrong like this? It's just Central Park. Sadewa had always thought he had good luck, but now he was sure that bad luck had hit him hard.

Is this the feeling that Tania is afraid of? If this was the case, he and Nakula should have followed Tania's words not to go camping. Sadewa wept bitterly.

Sadewa hopes this is a dream. And if this is a dream, please wake him up now. And as if reality mocked Sadewa, Sadewa felt excruciating pain in his legs, the creature had buried one claw in his knee, and Sadewa screamed in pain. Blood was running down his knees. Sadewa smiled sadly.

Maybe it's time. He will die.

Sadewa turned to look at Rasya and Hema. They were lying across from him with Hema's legs which were already bruised and blackened horribly. Blood was flowing on Rasya's head. Sadewa did not know whether they were alive or dead. Sadewa hopes they live. At least some of them have to survive-even if these creatures don't kill them after killing Sadewa.

Sadewa turned to look at Nakula, and the pain in his chest gnawed at him. He failed to protect Nakula. Even though he had promised Tania to protect Nakula no matter his situation, he failed, and the guilt seemed to eat him alive.

Sorry, daddy, mommy.

The last thing Sadewa remembered before the pain as if his life had been pulled from his body hit him was the appearance of two wolves that werewolves are howling and growling furiously. And Sadewa couldn't help but scream and scream when the claws pierced her stomach.

Darkness envelops.
