The room where Kirika made her virtual body gave off a blinding white light. Neomi's soft voice was replaced by a hum that
followed the direction of the dark blue hallway that was pulling Kirika's body. A few seconds later, she was already in the middle of the starting city on Planet Eldian. A safe zone in the form of a beautiful European countryside.
A gentle wind caressed Kirika's blue-black hair. She looked around and immediately felt a calmness that was beyond words. Usually she had always been in a noisy city, now her new world was very much different. Behind her stood a simple house made of wood.
But she realized that now was not the time to admire the beauty of the city. The purpose she skip the tutorial is to exit the game once she done creating the virtual body. Although she trusts Virtue as a company that applies strict operational standards and always makes gaming machine. Still this is the first ever VRMMO RPG.
She still felt worried, afraid that there bug that prevented her from exiting the game or bugs . Kirika raised her hand, staring at the slender fingers that must only consist of a collection of data. Then she moved her index and middle fingers and formed the letter H in the air in front of her to open the main menu window.
Instantly a transparent panel showing boxes with different symbols appeared in front of her, accompanied by a brief clatter as the menu window popped up. Her gaze immediately fell on the lower right corner, a box with the symbol of a door opening and closing as Kirika's index finger approached it.
"Thanks God…."
She breathed a sigh of relief that the option to exit the game was still there, but this wasn't enough to dispel her fears. She also decided to exit the game, making sure that the log out working.
The twilight scene was instantly replaced by a swirling dark blue hallway, and Kirika could feel her body strength returning. She slowly opened her eyes, even though they were covered by the blindfold from the Dynames Gear—all she saw was the ceiling of her room that was covered with Heavenly Online posters. She got the poster from the sales package of her gaming device.
Kirika tried to move her fingers, before trying to get up into a sitting position. She couldn't lie to herself, feelings of anxiety and excitement made her heart beat fast. Then, she lay back down again and took a deep breath while trying to lower her crazed heart rate. Once again she said 'Game Start!'
The light from the lamp on the ceiling slowly faded away. The transmission from her visual nerves had been cut off, and her eyes were shrouded in darkness. Before long, a dark blue passageway that spun around and gave off a buzz appeared. This is a short process aimed at confirming connections to all the nerves in her body.
After a few seconds of being in the revolving hall, Kirika had arrived in a different world. The begining city that was on Planet Eldian, she reappeared in front of a wooden house and the twilight sky greeted her.
"Maybe I'm the only one doing this weird thing, but I have to make sure one more time."
She raised his right hand, then pointed her index and middle fingers to form the letter H which comes from the word Heavenly. The tinkling of bells rang out and a transparent panel appeared in a split second. An agile movement of her index finger aimed at the symbol of a moving door. She gently touched the log out.
After the blue hallway ended, Kirika had already returned to her room. But this time it was a little different, she saw Heavenly Online posters that seemed to be spinning on the ceiling. Not only that, but the whole room was spinning too.
Kirika closed her eyes, it wasn't her room that was spinning but right now she was experiencing the effects of logging out hasty
In Virtue's explanation, there is a conflict between 'ease' and 'fairness' regarding logging out. In other words, it should be designed so that people who have emergency matters such as appointments or have to take care of their physical bodies in the real world can quickly leave the game.
However, on the other hand, it had to be arranged in such a way that it couldn't be used to escape combat situations or prevent theft. For this reason, Virtue puts certain restrictions and conditions on logging out of Heavenly Online.
Players can log out from anywhere, but their characters will remain in a 'lifeless' state for a few minutes and will be vulnerable to attacks and theft. But Kirika did it in the safe zone, her Zeunoia character should be fine.
The mistake was that she immediately logged out without adjusting the position of the virtual body with the real body in the real world. While playing games full dive, the player's senses are brought to the virtual world, so that when logging out these senses will be returned to the original body. So, if you suddenly change from standing to lying down, there will be a strong feeling of vertigo. Just as Kirika was feeling right now.
To prevent such symptoms, it is better to log out by 'sleep off', in other words, to fall asleep. When the player character is falling asleep in the virtual world, they will be automatically logged out and sent back to the real world.
But Kirika's baseless suspicion made her forget something important like this. Even though Virtue kept reminding them of this at Virtue Station.
Maybe out of the thousands of gamers , she was the only one who worried too much about unreasonable things. And, maybe she's the only one going back and forth in and out of the game for fear of bugs happening.
"At this rate… I could be left behind from the other players," she grumbled as she stomped her hands and feet. A little annoyed with herself being too anxious.
"Okay… this time I'm really going to play."
After taking a deep breath and the dizzy effect was gone, Kirika gave the order to dive to the game.
"Game Start!"
Her body felt light after saying the command to start the game. All the senses in her body stopped functioning. She was pulled back again by the dark blue passage with rotating points of light.
The tinkling of the bell echoed inside Kirika's head. She don't know how many times she had heard that sound. Until then. she was silent even though the voice was still heard. If she usually only heard sound effects when entering a game from her computer speakers, now the sound is so close.
White goose feathers are still scattered around her. Dancing with the remaining sunlight. Of course it was just a data set that was created as an accompaniment when a player's character had just appeared in the game.
Something that surprised Kirika was the astonished look of a player who was already standing in front of her. It felt like that person had been waiting for her for a long time. Perhaps the player was confused. because Kirika's character had been silent for a while and came back to her senses in a short time.
I don't know what the player was thinking, but the expression on the virtual body of the person in front of her was very innocent. The player uses a female virtual body that is much shorter than her character. Her face is pure white, with milktea hair. Her round eyes with hazel irises are able to make people who meet her immediately conclude that in the real world this person must be a cute girl.
Then she tried to sharpen her gaze so she could see the information of the player character in front of her.
"Crimines?"
