There was just one thing that was bothering Alex this whole time, he was practically destitute with no money in his savings. His rent alone was enough to drain him altogether. It was to the extent that he had to compromise his food intake to make ends meet. Therefore, the initial gambling investment that he had brought with him was the same hundred-dollar bill that he had found scrunched up in his pockets earlier.
Other than that, he had no other valuable that he could have used as the seed money for his gambling venture.
The vibe inside the casino reminded him of hungry and lustful mortals eating away at each other with bloodlust in their eyes. It was a gambling den but it was no different to playing with the lives of those you gambled with. There was a VIP table that had been reserved for the wealthy who played around with their entire inheritance. As soon as he had entered, there was someone who had been lying on the ground bawling his eyes out right next to that table. From the clothes that the person was wearing, Alex could tell that he was someone who belonged to the same community as the rest of the individuals enthroned on the rest of the seats on the VIP table.
The only reason that the person was in such a dire situation was the fact that he had lost his entire life at the table, the company that he had belonged to had been the final stake that he had used to get his lost pride back. The result was obvious; he had ended up losing everything that he had tried to earn back.
The gambling den was a place where lives burned, efforts became wasted, misery turned into fate for some while some found luck of their past generations. Alex had come here hoping to be the latter but it wasn't just hope that made him feel confident. It was the ability that he had unlocked that was enough to make the lowly mortals worship him as the god of gamblers.
Alex pulled down his hoodie so as to hide his face altogether kept his gaze on the ground refusing any piercing gazes that were bound to come his way after he revealed his interest in gambling with his pitiful seed money.
Still there had been one thing that Alex had failed to consider. This was where gamblers lost and won their fortunes. Therefore, there were always people in his situation who lacked the money to continue gambling so it wasn't very odd in the first place. Although it wasn't odd, this was definitely not something that the employees at the exchange counter appreciated since these guests usually wasted their time searching for money in all of their pockets before managing to pull out a measly little bill that wasn't enough to satisfy their desires at all. These kinds of guests were usually loud and foul mouthed and basically a nuisance for the staff at the counter.
Therefore, they either shooed such guests away or asked the bouncers to throw such guests out in case they got out of hand.
Alex had yet to fall under the latter category because despite being poor he was still well behaved which the staff at the counter appreciated somewhat since they had been expecting another outrageous demand from the shabby guest.
Hundred dollars was not enough for those who truly wanted to gamble at the casino. If someone told them that they had come to play at the casino with that kind of funds, the staff would have definitely laughed out loud because they had seen guests who never found luck despite spending millions of dollars looking for it. How could it be so easy to make money in the casino? If that had been the case, the casino would have long since run out of money.
Alex didn't let those disdainful sneers and mocking smirks on their faces, destroy his confidence as he collected the chips at the counter and headed towards the game that he had intended to play.
There were many options to choose from. Games requiring strong mentality and a penchant for deceit like poker were extremely popular but it wasn't the game that could jump start Alex's venture with a rapid influx of funds. It was not a game that was purely based on luck but his Eye of the god didn't make him omnipotent in the game. In case he failed to get good cards in the first game, he might have ended up folding. That would have led to a disastrous beginning of his gambling profession.
Alex walked around a few games that sparked his interest but didn't deem them good enough to be the golden goose that he was looking for.
Finally, at a table at the far end of the casino Alex found the Holy Grail that he had been hoping to find. It was a station where a dealer was busy shaking a cup full of die.
It was the perfect game to boost his funds. Alex practically leaped towards the table around which a few individuals were busy betting on the outcome.
Dealer shook the die in the cup and settled down the cup on the table. The betting began soon after. The people who were gathered around the small table bid either 'small' or 'big'.
'Small' referred to a combination of die in the cup that had a sum total ranging between 3 to 10. While 'big' would be the s total ranging between 11 to 18.
There was a total of three die in the cup and the total of the number that would be rolled determined if the roll was big or small.
Based on the number of chips bet on each roll, there was a fifty percent chance of a win and a loss. Each roll would either be big or small. Also there was a minuscule chance of rolling three sixes that would mean the dealer had won the bet and all the chips bet in that round would be lost to the casino.
Alex with his penetrating gaze was able to clearly tell the sum of numbers in a particular roll.
