Chapter 10 - Winner

He closely observed the process for two rolls as it was his first time playing this game even though he had heard about it from one of his delinquent classmates.

After he was sure of the win, he waited for the dealer to finish rolling the dice and bet all his chips on 'small'.

He wasn't the only one to do so since there were only two options to choose from. As a result, when the dealer lifted the cup Alex gained twice the chips in return. The roll comprised of a three, a two and a three. The total amounted to eight which represented a win for him.

Alex was not the least bit surprised since he had already seen the result with his 'Eye of god'.

There was a clamor of voices; some stained with regret while some fluttering in jubilation. As soon as the voices died down, the dealer took it as his cue to roll the die again.

The people surrounding the table began to contemplate how much to bid and to whether choose big or small.

The roll came to a halt and dealer expectantly looked towards the crowd waiting for all the bids to complete.

Alex bet 'small' without a hint of doubt visible on his face. Unlike the others in the crowd, he was anxiously waiting for the dealer to roll again. He wasn't even interested in the result of the bet since he already knew the answer. He just wanted to increase the pace at which he was winning.

The two hundred dollars that he had won turned into two hundred thousand in the matter of minutes. Alex was someone who won even more when the odds were against him which earned him the envy of veteran gamblers.

The dealer was starting to sweat as the guest had been constantly winning without a single loss or miscalculation.

The dealer had previously been quite confident of his skills and could play any of his guests with ease but the guest that he had received today was an oddity that even he was unable to explain. No matter what kind of tricks he played, Alex was able to see through them all.

The casino had been losing but the loss hadn't been as significant since the bets placed hadn't been very high and the guest had only managed to accumulate a total of two hundred thousand dollars.

But the fact that the hooded guest had not experienced a single loss made him dangerous for the casino. Every time the guest made a move, he would go all-in which devastated the heavily beating heart of the dealer.

Alex had already managed to amass two hundred thousand worth of chips and he was still following the same philosophy. Normal gamblers would have grown hesitant at this point since two hundred thousand was a considerable amount of money and yet a bumpkin like the hooded guest had yet to show any frustration or hesitation on his face.

The thought finally struck the dealer as he was rolling the die. He had met a pro. The guest was definitely a professional who could tell the number by the sound of the die. This also explained why he had been able to get his bet right every single time.

When the roll came to a stop, the dealer's heart came to a stop with it. The hooded guest had gone all in again.

If the guest managed to win this time, the losses to the casino would be devastating, this terrified the dealer.

The dealer was sweating blood as he knew that the situation would soon reach the ears of the owner of the casino which wouldn't work out well for him.

Alex who had been intent on winning this whole time had failed to take into account the fact that his constant winning streak had resulted in a lot of suspicion on him.

When he noticed the eyes around him, it had already been too late. There were various gazes locked on him and some of them were even mimicking his bets to gain profit.

Alex felt wary of this atmosphere and knew that it was time to change the game or else the crowd wouldn't have let him go in one piece. They would have torn him into pieces to get a part of his luck for themselves.

Alex didn't even count the total number of chips he had before leaving the table. He had decided to play poker now that he had the funds to do so.

It was not a table with no limits as he had wanted but the people at this table looked wealthy enough to him. The number of chips they had amassed wasn't any different from his own.

The dealer took out a new set of cards as the previous game came to a conclusion. The mustached man next to Alex had come out to be the winner of the previous round. There was a disgusting smirk on his face as if he wanted everyone to know that he had won.

Alex avoided the abhorring sight by turning his gaze away from his neighboring player. The lean man wearing glasses was seated across from him while an elderly sat towards his other side. The elderly looked to be quite upset as he sneaked a glance at his cards that the dealer had just dealt to him.

Alex took a look at his own cards which turned out to be a seven of spades and a seven of hearts. After taking a look around, he found that the elderly man who had appeared to be utterly devastated at the state of his cards earlier actually had the best hand dealt to him by the dealer. Four eyes in front of him had received a dud. It was a five of hearts and a nine of diamonds.

The mustached man had run out of luck as well so he folded as soon as it was his turn.

It didn't take long for the four-eyes to fold as well. Alex found during the game that the kind elderly man had been the most cunning opponent in the game. If it hadn't been for the Eye of god, Alex would have already been done in by him.
