Chapter 12 - The dinner is failed

The dinner party suddenly became silent. Jokes and jokes like earlier seemed to evaporate. Since then Kevin has only been going back and forth leaving Abel to answer his phone. Kevin had been different ever since he picked up his first cell phone.

"Vin, are you okay?" Abel asked starting the conversation because he was so curious.

"I am okay." Kevin replied with a stiff smile.

"Call from whom?" Abel asked again carefully.

"Nobody."

"Is it a business matter… or a personal matter.." Abel felt that he should know what made Kevin so angry.

"It's a nobody, Bel! That's it.." Kevin answered in a high and curt tone.

Okay, the word 'that's it' proves that Abel must know himself and keep his mouth shut. Abel's appetite disappeared. Abel got up from his seat and pushed his chair. Of course Abel felt very offended by what Kevin said.

"Bell, you don't intend to leave, do you?" Kevin stood up.

"I really want to go." Abel said annoyed and walked away from the table.

"Bell, wait." Kevin grabbed Abel's hand. Now everyone here was already staring at them. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. Come on, sit down again."

"No Vin, I want to go."

"Just sit down for a minute. We haven't had the dessert yet. They'll serve you chocolate pudding."

Kevin said, pleading with Abel. Abel fell silent when he heard the chocolate pudding. He was about to consider, but Abel pulled him back again. He would still sulk, wouldn't be weak just because of a pudding.

"I don't want eat pudding."

"Then, let's have a coffee."

"I don't like coffee."

"Bell, there's no way you like coffee. I know very well that you like coffee."

"You don't know anything about me, dear Mr Aiden."

Abel said then forced his hand to let go, then left the restaurant. I don't know how long it's been raining outside. But Abel didn't care. Abel had to get out of here right now. The woman pulled the hood of her hoodie over her head. Breaking through the torrential rain that hit the highway.

"Abel, come on up. I'll take you home." A car stopped in front of Abel. Kevin opened his car window.

"I don't want to go home with you." Abel answered with a little shout. The sound of rain hitting the tin roof of the seat made a loud noise.

"You can't stay here forever. It's raining here." Kevin said as he got out of the car and sat next to Abel.

"I can. I'm used to it." Abel turned his back to Kevin.

"Bel.." Kevin patted Abel's shoulder. "It's raining really hard. Come home with me soon."

"I don't want to go home with you. I want to take home by the taxi."

"Oh my God, why are you being so stubborn like this?"

"I'm stubborn. You just don't know." Abel shifted his sitting position away from Kevin.

"I know you, Bel. I know you as much as I know myself."

Finally Abel turned to Kevin. Staring at him furiously. He knows a lot.

"Listen, you don't know me, Vin." Abel raised one index finger that was almost stuck to Kevin's face confidently. "If you really know me like you know yourself, you should know that when we're having dinner, I don't want to be ignored. I don't like being ignored just because you pick up your stupid phone. I don't want to eat smoked beef. and I don't want to drink wine. I want a colorful drink with a lemon wedge on top of the rich glass that the boy is drinking. You should know that, Kevin!"

Abel spouted those words in Kevin's face. And at the same time Abel immediately covered his mouth, he realized that everything should not be said. Kevin stared at Abel stunned and a moment later burst out laughing. Abel lowered his head feeling so very embarrassed, while the rain was pouring down on the tin roof.

a moment later burst out laughing. Abel lowered his head feeling so very embarrassed, while the rain was pouring down on the tin roof. Kevin moved forward towards Abel.

"Okay, I'm sorry. But can we start over? I promise I won't ignore you and I'll ask you what you want."

A moment later a taxi came from a distance. Abel and Kevin both stood up. Then Abel waved one hand to stop the taxi. As soon as the taxi stopped Abel approached him. Abel opened the door and went inside.

"Are you sure you don't want to come home with me?" Kevin asked, poking his head into the cab window.

"No, I'll just take a taxi."

"Okay, but you haven't answered my question. Do you want to repeat our date?"

"Yes." Kevin smiled widely.

"Okay. Tomorrow night at eight."

"Yes, eight o'clock."

***

Tonight's date failed. Though Abel wanted a nice night. Laugh together, laugh together. Get to know each other more closely. Like it used to be. Not even fighting like this. *** Kevin stomped on the gas pedal as hard as he could. Splitting the highway in the rain to a house.

After getting a call from someone, his heart was already unsettled. Start raging with a forked mind. So he had to meet her right now. Kevin parked his car in front of the house fence which was painted white with gragas. Then he pushed open the iron fence and rushed into the house without knocking. A man came out of the room. He was just about to talk to Kevin, but Kevin went straight into the room.

He was immediately stunned to see a girl lying on the bed. His face was pale, his body was so thin and frail.

"How's Lily, Mas?"

"She had a relapse earlier, she kept calling you. We were all confused. Where have you been?" In his gaze that deathly pale face. Guilt immediately grabbed him. Kevin should have been by Lily's side when she needed him. Not leaving when Lily was in pain.

"I had an appointment with a friend, Mas."

Kevin gulped, then stood up to the man standing behind him. The man tapped Kevin on the shoulder several times to calm Kevin. The man knew that Kevin didn't mean to abandon him.

"Should Lily move to Malaysia again, with Aunt Rinda and Mbak Melisa?" Kevin shook his head quickly. He didn't want to take the risk. It was enough what happened one week ago to be Lily's last. He didn't want to make Lily more sad. At least that's what he promised Barata.

"Mom and aunt Melisa can't stay close to Lily Mas." said Kevin. He took a breath and massaged his forehead.

"Lily is safer here with Mas Tristan's family."

"Okay," Tristan replied. The man's name. "You just stay here. I'm afraid Lily will look for you when she wakes up." Kevin nodded slightly agreeing with the man's idea. Maybe he should spend the night here with Lily.

"Mas Tristan," Kevin cleared his nose. The man called Tristan turned his head.

"Yes?"

Kevin was silent for a moment, before he finally said. "It's all right."
