Chapter 55 - A promised tea

Standing in her daygown at the window in the hallway in front of her study, Iris could see Benjamin and his party of ten men from where Commander Thornwood was missing. He probably decided himself to stay behind this time to protect his lady. Since the attack in the forest, his attitude has changed so much, he was a step away from swearing allegiance to her.

At that moment, although she was grateful for the knight's service, it didn't make her much happier. She felt betrayed watching how her husband was leaving once again after all his promises. Of course she understood it was urgent, like it had always been, but she could still not see why he must go himself.

From her place, Iris saw a figure covered in a long dark red cloak to protect her from the morning cold, going towards the man in the yard. Lady Rose went directly at her husband, and they discussed something before the lady put some sort of pin on Benjamin's vest. Then they both turned to look at the castle.
