They arrived at an abandoned parking lot near the edge of town. Other than the lights coming from the rows of bikes that just arrived, it was pitch black. The lights in this area have long been inactive.
With the failed shopping mall and its long since shattered windows and doors from what one could only guess to be an act of vandals or theives. It left a desolate and empty feeling that was in stark contrast with the hopeful and cheerful feeling the highschoolers had in the morning.
Jamie had no understanding as to why anyone her age would think fighting in a cold, dark parking lot is better than going home to a warm bed. Her family wasn't perfect and although she knew she wouldn't always get a peaceful sleep at the very least if anything went wrong the ambulance would find her body. In this far away and obscure location she is more likely to be buried and used as fertalizer rather than be checked and treated for injuries.
Another group of teenagers emerged from the opposite side of the parking lot and stopped in front of them. Jamie began counting.
As they got closer to Jamies group a tall Alpha walked calmly to the front and was only then illuminated by the lights. He wore an old red jacket and sunglasses which singled him out from the others behind him who still wore their school uniforms.
"It's an honor, to finally meet thee~ omega leader everyone has been speaking so much of." With a sarcastic smirk the Alpha bowed a few feet in front of Jamie's face and on que their underlings started laughing like it was the funniest joke to have ever been made.
Immediately, stepping in front of the distracted Jamie, Steff silenced them and drew their attention as she spoke. "Cut the crap, Gritz. You and your cronies shouldn't have brought their bullshit onto our turf."
With a large sneer on their face he responded ."You're talking big for a gang who hasn't participated in this years ranking. You think you're the shit."
"Unlike you, dipshits, we don't got shit to prove. Go back to the landfills you crawled out from to save everyone from the smell." Steff pulled off a disgusted face and motioned to the others to follow along.
Steaming with anger Gritz pointed a finger at Steff. "After getting into the top three you think you can breeze through your senior year without a scratch?!! Since you've become such softies following that omega as your leader. It's best we take that spot for ourselves!"
As the two sides were about to fight it out. A clear voice spoke up from behind Steff with a relieved tone.
"Fifty-seven!" Jamie turned towards Steff," I'll leave this to you guys...I believe in you." Nodded and left to the back as far away from the center as possible.
Steff was surprised but emotions such as pride and recognition took a hold of her. The Jamie she knew was a hot head and anyone who made fun of her for looking like an omega would rushed and beaten to a pulp.
Generally, when that happens she'd have beaten them so badly the other side would be forced to rush them to the hospital as quickly as possible. While another portion of their gang becomes so freaked out they run away, they are teenagers after all, whole life ahead of them. The smallest portion that still want to fight soon find that they'll end up as a punching bag in the end once they get surrounded so they reluctantly leave.
All this happens simply because this is their leaders favorite spot for a fight. As far away from a hospital as possible.
The members of the Silver Sun can be said to have gained a participation trophy for gang fighting while their leader got first, second and third place all on their own since their freshman year. This is their first chance to prove themselves as followers of their strong leader. They quickly rushed to fight their opponents with a burning passion.
"Leader!! We won't disappoint you!!!" They yelled with the belief that their leader has finally given a chance to prove themselves.
Jamie simply waved at them happily as she sat down. She was starting to find it difficult standing in the middle of it all. The thought that she was moments away from being beaten plus the smell coming off of these alphas was so strong she had thought of ripping off her nose almost made her go crazy.
Luckily, being the book fanatic she was, she was able to remember a line from a gangster thriller where the leader had left their underlings to clean up a rival family. Now, she can just sit back and be high on the feeling of safety.
Which, became short lived.
