Chapter 6 - Private Training Space

Marcus was dumbfounded, he knew what Lucien said he was going to do but there is a difference between hearing it and experiencing it.

His very own system!

Although he still had to wait for 24 hours for the system to be fully installed he still had access to an AI with a guide to the private space that his ancestor had gifted him, it seemed worthwhile to have a look around after all he had nowhere else to be.

He wondered if his system worked like the ones in the stories he had read online where they could hear and respond to his thoughts to avoid looking crazy.

[Yes Marcus, the system is based off many of those stories and although your ancestor was a little weird from your perspective he is not a sadist that wants you to look crazy]

The system replies before he even tried to ask it, apparently it's not one of those where you have to actively think to talk to it.

[The idea of having to actively think to talk to me is absurd, you are always actively thinking unless it's an uncontrolled subconscious thought which even you do not notice so by that logic I would always hear you. Anyway it's best this way as for example if you are in a panic with no time to think the system can give you some advice without you needing to ask]

[I would suggest you start to look around your private training space, as it is incredibly large and will take a while to guide you through, although please note I will not reveal everything as it is designed for you to explore and claim the resources you discover. Therefore I will only provide a general outline of the areas and rooms]

'Damn, I thought the old man was going to just hand me everything needed but he wants me to actually do things from the get go' Marcus sighed at the fact he couldn't just be passed a warehouse of resources.

[So you just want to stay lazy for the rest of your life? How are you going to defeat the big bad guy without working hard for it? If he's not destroyed then your world will be when he hands it to his dark creatures. So get off your ass and see what you've got to help you]

'Alright, alright you crazy system. Where should we start?' Marcus relented.

[We can start right here, this hut is the central nexus of the space, from here you are able to get to any area or training room within the space, look at the doors along the wall, each has a teleportation rune embedded within the wood and will send you out to a certain location. Up the stairs are multiple sets of living quarters and another door leading to your private library. Let's head there first.]

Marcus agreed and started to head up the magnificent staircase and opened a large door at the top to find himself in the middle of a narrow yet spacious hallway with 3 doors, one on each end and one opposite him in the centre.

This hallway just like the hall downstairs was beautifully decorated with similar paintings and ornate furniture. The system told him that the centre door was to his private quarters, the door at the end to his left was to the library and the door to the right was for guest or servant quarters.

He decided to check out the library first and headed left. As he touched the door handle he felt a searing pain in his palm reaching up to his chest.

"Aaaah! What the fuck was that" he yelled out after the moment of pain was over.

[Sorry, I neglected to mention the first room you try to enter would activate a soul link, this is to sort of register you as the master of the Private Training Space, so you have full authority within. Nobody else can add or remove authorizations or enter certain areas while you still live, if they try they will be punished]

"Ok, but will it hurt like that every time or was it a one time deal?" Marcus asked worrying about opening any more doors.

He had also decided to abandon telepathic conversation since he was alone anyway.

[One time deal, you're linked now so the space will recognise you wherever you go within the space]

"Ok, is there anything else like this that I need to be aware of?" Marcus decided to act on the side of caution and just ask the question.

[Not that you need to be aware of no] the system responded ominously.

"Eh?"

[Don't worry about it, it probably won't be today anyway]

"Fuck it, no point worrying. As long as it doesn't kill me it's fine I guess" Marcus sighed in defeat.

[Oh, that's something you should know. In the Private Training Space all beings respawn upon death, sentient species such as humans will awake in their bed while hunted creatures are reborn in their nests as new creatures]

"Wait! what? That's incredible" Marcus shouted again. It's been none stop shock and awe since getting beaten and thrown into the river.

[Yeah, its because it's for any training that may be deadly. Anyway, let's get on with the tour]

With that Marcus opened the door and was again amazed by what he found inside, row upon row of bookcases each around 20 foot tall and going as far as the eye could see.

Each row was categorised, there was knowledge of magic, blacksmithing, alchemy, enchanting, beasts, demons, dark creatures, farming, mining on and on it went.

[These books should be all the knowledge you need in your fight against the dark creatures and the traitor, the ancestor told me to advise you to learn as much as you can and put things like the crafting knowledge into good practice as during his surveillance he notices that magic had basically died off and will be greatly needed in the future battles]

Putting his shock aside Marcus continued the tour of his new private space, he looked at his private quarters, with a bed big enough for 20 people to sleep on, an ornate desk for his studies, an enormous empty wardrobe and a locked door that the system advised was a private corridor to other facilities in the cottage that will unlock once he has toured them. Overall it was an amazing room fit for a king.

Next he had a look at the guest and servant quarters, they were seperate behind the main door in both location and quality, though not as grand as his own quarters the guest quarters were suitable for somebody of any status to stay in and feel like they were in luxury, while the servant quarters were another step down from that.

Next he went back downstairs and was advised that the doors on the left side of the staircase were either training rooms or crafting rooms and on the left was areas of wilderness with various biomes.

There was a forest filled with plants and animals useful for alchemy, another mountains with various veins of ores to be mined.

The beach which apparently had some sort of holy properties and some resources used in enchanting.

There was also a tundra where along with a few resources that the system said were for him to discover there was apparently a prison if he wished to use it.

Finally there was a desert which was supposedly a good place to meditate and reflect on the knowledge he had absorbed,

after all its one thing to learn its another to understand.

After having a quick look at each biome Marcus was thrilled at having such a large space of his own, and decided to have a look at the crafting rooms.
